Hair washed and ready to boss my Monday ✨
Whenever my hairs out, it’s always a conversation starter with my girls at school… the power of representation!
*SCREAMS*
From September, I will be a Assoc. Assistant Principal - Leading Sixth Form and Science 😭😭😭😭
What a way to start my summer 🧡🥺

Not me and my natural hair & purple suit trying to represent for all the young natural Queens 🥺✨ (ps my hair does what it wants whenever it chooses)
I honestly don’t know how anyone has ever claimed that Summer 2 term was “winding down” I feel like my feet can’t touch the ground atm.
To do list is GROWING… not shrinking.
I’ve watched three times and I can’t even explain why. This makes me so so angry
The complete dismissal, condescension, and feigned offence, at what is essentially facts and direct quotes. I just can’t.
Zarah quotes the Prime Minister’s own racist words, and the Minister tells her to lower her tone and accuses her of shouting at her?
What a world we live in.
Soooo I finally FINALLY graduated today!!!
After everything 2020 brought, I finally made it to this day!!! So proud of my thesis because BLACK WOMEN NEED THEIR STORY TOLD ✨🤎
Happy Graduation to me 🥳❤️🥰

Teaching is a career which you LOVE and enjoy, but equally, it just really wipes you out.
Doesn’t matter how refreshed I feel going back… and how much I love being at work, three days in and I’m wiped again…
If you’re not watching the brand new

Why has one of my former students emailed me with “Hi Gen Gen 🙂” 🤣🤣🤣😡 This boy is SO cheeky!
But I’m going to let him off because he’s only gone and got 3 A* and is OFF TO CAMBRIDGE 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
I am VERY passionate about the Windrush Generation as a 2nd Generation Black British Caribbean Woman.

It literally makes me feel sick that was allowed to happen by teachers, a school, with no respect for this girl’s dignity, vulnerability or innocence.

I remember wanting straight hair from early and settling for the hot comb on special occasions. I had permed hair for 14 years, every 3 months! “Hair is your beauty”
Now look at me! The Natural Hair movement saved my hair!

Black History Month special today 😍😍😍 The kids enjoyed it sooo much.
A Y7 told me about Senegalese jollof (her heritage), one Y10 told me she loved the bananas (plantain), bless her 🥺 and a Y11 boy ran back in shouting “NAHHH WHO COOKED THIS CHICKEN IT’S NICE!” 🤣🤣🤣

Today we did EM Waves - one of them said “Miss, not gonna lie, this is the best lesson I’ve had all week” 🥺🥺🥺 AND others agreed 😭❤️
It has made my week!!!
I passed my NPQH this week!
Big congrats to my teammate
@mprteaching
too! 18 long months. Proud of us 😊
Ended the week by some ex students coming by & surprising me with these too 🥹
HAPPY WINDRUSH DAY! I hope we get the time to reflect, with our students or by ourselves, on the importance of the Windrush Generation and their impact on today’s society. I would not be here without them.

A Y10 girl told me how much she liked my hair, at the end of last term, a particular braiding pattern.
She came back this week with the exact same hairstyle, so it was my turn to tell her much I loved her hair 😍😍
Been having some major imposter syndrome since I received this but I got accepted onto a NPQH!! 😲🥳
I’ve been needing a challenge but… now I’m scared!

I have watched that Adele and her teacher clip so many times now.
1. I cried 😭 but most importantly…
2. I really REALLY hope that, in years to come, there are students who talk about me in that way 🥺
Teachers… you are LOVED 🌟
World Afro Day today 🥰 Lots of kids wanting to take part in the celebrations, some BEAUTIFUL fros today; and we had a mini salon 💇🏾

Yesterday: First time in a Yoruba Bridal Party - Trad wedding for one of my closest girlfriends 🧡
🇯🇲 x 🇳🇬 Honestly, the most Beautiful day 🙌🏾
Today: Struggled through the school day 🙃
Pink and professional for today’s VERY important day in school. Needed to bring some colour to a cold and busy Wednesday
Still reading about stories of hair discrimination in schools. The girls, colleagues, and I, rock every braided hairstyle going 👌🏾
I can’t tell you how much it means to me that FINALLY sickle cell sufferers (Warriors), who are predominantly Black people, may be looking at a revolutionary drug after decades of suffering!
I really hope and pray this is a turning point for the pathology of this condition 🙏🏾❤️

I don’t know else who has this privilege, but yesterday, my mum became my colleague. She’s the new p/t art tech at my school, after interviewing a few weeks ago, and she started yesterday.
Mum AND colleague 🥰
Have a girl in Y11 who is quite disengaged generally with lessons a lot of the time, doesn’t like school and doesn’t know what she wants to do in the future
Let me tell you... online lessons...?
SHE IS ON FIRE 🔥
I’m even getting my “Hi Miss” and “Bye Miss” every lesson 😍🥺
Had a sixth form site review and honestly, I could have vomited all day… I have been STREEEESSED!!!
But the feedback 🥺
Don’t get me wrong, lots to develop, but I cried inside. T&L great, students feel happy and safe, I appeared knowledgable & articulate… I’m SO happy!
Every day I have high hopes to “get stuff done” and be productive but NOPE. Another day just binge watching reality tv and doing absolutely nothing 🥴 This unsummery summer break has brought out the real me 😂
Made a promise to myself that I’m going to try and do whatever I can to LIVE outside of work, and make the most of life during the week too.
Left work today and went to the cinema & caught an early evening film. Perfect start to the week.
American Fiction is 👌🏾
