Over a 10 year period 80% of taxpayers NEVER generate a capital gain ever. Of 20% who do, avg is $5,200. And number who would actually hit $250,000 for cap gains alone would be about 1-2% (of the 20%). This doesn’t cover corps but you get a very clear sense — impact is narrow.

Lots of folks in Ottawa are unhappy with Federal Court ruling on EA - and my comments agreeing. But the Court clearly finds the Convoy form of protest was illegitimate, unacceptable and caused harm. Point is govts should have found other way to end it.
