The Torch-passing events to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day this June were inspired by CANADA🇨🇦 - by the immortal words of Cdn war poet Lt Col (Dr.) John McCrae “In Flanders Fields”. The torch design came from talented students at McMaster University, Hamilton.

D-Day80 - commemorations begin. HMS Belfast (now part of the Imperial War Museum) was offshore Normandy on June 6/44. Today the Commonwealth War Graves Commission lit torches aboard The Belfast to be taken to France and passed by Veterans to children on that 80th anniversary.
