Meta-analysis of exposure therapy vs. other approaches for PTSD showing:
- more sustained long-term effects if exposure was used (compared to non-trauma focused therapy or medication)
- longer therapies were *less* effective
Why? Because
- it groups mental disorders that can be treated, neurodevelopmental disorders and other phenomena that are not even clinically relevant
- it suggests that none of the included phenomena can or should be treated
- it implies a biological basis for all of these
A plea for all

Individual patient data meta-analysis (346 patients from 8 studies,) finds no evidence for superiority of EMDR over other PTSD therapies. No significant differences in symptom reduction or dropout rates.
Long-term follow-up of CBT and psychoanalysis for chronic depression shows no difference in main outcomes. Mean number of sessions for CBT: 59, psychoanalysis: 242.
