We recently contacted

requesting the removal of their policy charging workers to advertise in a new location, and that all other charges should remain payable using credits.
We will continue to push AW on this until we receive an appropriate reply.
Amazing scenes outside

HQ in London this afternoon. Sex workers demand a meeting with the company, clear policies and an end to blocking workers’ accounts.
On International Workers Day we send our solidarity to all workers. Particularly the workers, who like sex workers, are still fighting for access to basic labour rights.

WE BEAT ANOTHER STRIP CLUB BAN!
Over the last 2 years, our members have been fighting
@Edinburgh_CC
to prevent their workplaces from being shut down under a nil-cap.
Today the council voted to keep the current cap of 3 in place, with an option for a worker run club to open.
🧵
For sex workers, this isn’t an extraordinary story, it is an all too common nightmare. Many of us have had our bank accounts closed without warning, further isolating us from participating in a society that already pushes us to the margins.
This is an extraordinary story. The idea someone can not access banking because of their political views is deeply dangerous & at odds with living in a democracy.
Without access to banking you can’t operate in a modern society - ideally it would be enshrined in law (1/1)
Both
@ASLEFunion
members & sex workers deserve to run trains in safe working conditions.
Which is why we will always stand (or split) in solidarity with ASLEF members - & all workers - on picket lines or in supporting union actions.
Workers, united, will never be defeated ✊
Criminalising sex workers does nothing but harm.
Realistically, what does this achieve? Is this worker any safer with criminalisation? No, obviously not.
Carceral policies surrounding sex work only serve to punish and inflict violence upon sex workers.
We are not going to engage with the misogyny, Islamophobia and fetishisation of violence against us that we’ve been subject to the last few days - but we do want to make one thing clear. Solidarity is not, and never should be, conditional. Especially in the face of genocide.
Yet another article from the Morning Star using the deaths of sex workers to advocate for a criminalised regulatory framework that only inflicts more violence on sex workers.
Sex workers need decriminalisation for our safety - not further criminalisation, not legalisation.
Hi combabes,
You may have noticed we've been unusually quiet recently, and there's a good reason for that.
It was not an easy decision, but our sex worker branch recently voted to leave United Voices of the World, and formally dissolve United Sex Workers.
(🧵:1/10)
This is why we fight for the decriminalisation of sex work. When sex work is decriminalised, it will be subject to employment law and sex workers can access the rights, safety and recourse we are due - inc. the power to fight back against bad bosses.
On international wh0re’s day, we send our solidarity to every sex worker across the globe.
We will continue to fight until we can all celebrate this day with full access to the safety, dignity, workers’ rights and protections we are due.
The financial exclusion of sex workers is an issue that is only getting worse, exacerbated by the fact individual sex workers often have neither access to justice nor the power to enforce change. It can have a devastating effect on the lives of already marginalised people.
This is HUGE news! (Thread)
A
@unitedstripper
member just won a tribunal case for worker status! The judge has ruled that strippers are WORKERS not independent contractors.
The financial discrimination facing sex workers is pervasive & has a devastating impact on sex workers’ financial security.
Sex workers are frequently denied essential banking & payment services. We are able to work on fewer platforms due to payment processors anti-sw policies.
Due to an unexpected policy change, Stripe has decided to part ways with WishTender. We are thrilled to announce that we've acquired a new financial partner, and we are collaborating with them to continue building the best wishlist platform for creators.
We will continue to
Unionised strippers in Sheffield organised this beautiful action yesterday to defend their club - and livelihood - from the so-called ‘feminist’ groups, who use unlawful tactics to threaten SEV licenses. Strippers need unions, not saving!
#SexWorkIsWork
As there have been an increasing number of reports from sex workers about being detained/deported at borders, we’ve decided to collect some data on those experiences via a questionnaire.
If you’re a SW who would be interested in sharing your experiences, DM us for access ❤️🔥
It is reprehensible that a Labour council leader is continuing to pursue the closure of Edinburgh’s strip clubs, forcing over 100 workers into unemployment or unsafe conditions, during a cost of living crisis. Especially utilising vast swathes of public funds to do so. (1/5)
This is why we say disability rights are sex workers’ rights.
Many sex workers are disabled, and make the decision to enter sex work because of the low pay, inaccessible conditions and discrimination disabled people face in more “traditional” workplaces.
BREAKING 🚨 | 7 in 10 disabled workers earn less than £15 an hour.
Disabled workers are much more likely to be low paid than non-disabled people, our analysis reveals.
Hey Onlyfans creators,
Does it make you angry that you can barely get support, the website frequently doesn’t work, and 20% of the profits of your hard work are going towards this?
Get unionised babes! Join us and fight for your rights.
No matter what name they rebrand the Nordic Model under, one thing stays true, it increases the criminalisation, violence, danger and marginalisation sex workers face.
It is reprehensible for MEPs to continue to push this model despite overwhelming evidence of harm.
✊💜Adopt the Equality Model now!
Following the adoption of the report on prostitution by
@EP_GenderEqual

Sex work is work and we are workers. We deserve safe workplaces, better conditions, the right to organise, unionise and hold our bosses, and the platforms our labour builds, to account.

International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers is December 17th 2018
#nosilencetoviolence
It’s time to start listening to sex workers.
Decriminalisation increases sex workers’ power in their interactions with clients, managers, police and landlords. It makes people safer.
We’re at
@BrizTransformed
all weekend alongside our comrades at
@ukdecrimnow
!
Stop by our stall to learn about the sex workers’ rights movement, why sex workers need the full decriminalisation of sex work, and how you can support sex workers’ rights ✊
Violence and exploitation are no more inherent to sex work than any other form of work, it is a policy choice. Criminalisation creates conditions where violence and exploitation thrive.

Huge congratulations to strippers in Washington who have campaigned so successfully to enshrine their rights & protections at work.
The bill, written by the workers, included a cap on predatory fees and anti discrimination protections.
Solidarity, up the workers! ✊
Our Strippers' Bill of Rights SB 5614 has PASSED THE SENATE! This is SO exciting for the dancers of Washington State! SB 5614 is getting more rights and protections for dancers, and would legalize alcohol in WA clubs. Strippers Are Workers and Deserve Workers' Rights!
“Sex workers ask to be credited with the capacity to struggle with work - even to hate it - and still be considered workers. You don't have to like your job to want to keep it.”
[Revolting Prostitutes]
Liberation for one is liberation for all. Up the workers.

Bullsh*t. These platforms enable workers to advertise themselves and find clients independently, therefore having more control over their working conditions. Shutting down those platforms would only lead to more exploitation, rather than less.
Today
@DianaJohnsonMP
asked the Home Secretary why she still hasn’t outlawed pimping websites – which traffickers use to advertise victims for sexual exploitation. The sites facilitate & enable sex trafficking, making it easier & quicker to perpetrate sexual exploitation. (1/6)
Our members have already won worker status cases in strip clubs, have fought against exploitative practices on online platforms, battled financial exclusion, and have retrieved money from clients who tried to withhold payment.

❤️🔥Announcement for AW workers ❤️🔥
We’re aware that AW have been emailing some users, specifically non-U.K. nationals, to upload visible face pictures or risk having their account suspended.
We’ve been in contact with AW and can now announce that AW have retracted this policy.

Campaign group, Not Buying It, secretly filmed in the Spearmint Rhino strip club in Sheffield. They say the film shows sexual acts taking place. Strippers like Ella feel their privacy has been violated and a job they love is under threat.
We continue to fight for decriminalisation so all our work can be brought under employment law, and we can utilise those laws to uphold our safety and rights.
(4/8)
So brothel workers can formally unionise against their bosses and change their working conditions. So street based workers can work without fearing police harassment, fines and arrest. So workers can work together for safety.

This is your last chance to fill this out and help defend strippers’ safe workspaces in Edinburgh!
If you care about sex workers’ rights, then take 5 mins out of your day to respond to the consultation linked below.
On international Labour Day we think of workers in prisons, of migrant workers and those who sought asylum and are banned from working. We mobilise our communities for the liberation of all people from the systems of oppression that bind us.

“We’ve had some councillors imply that we’re not even a trade union…We can’t imagine many other workforces, where the chosen representatives of workers would be so isolated from a process and decision that directly impacts the working conditions of those workers.”

The STATE of journalism in this country. If you close down the platforms that enable workers to advertise their services independently, then you are forcing them into further exploitation and reliance on third parties. It is truly not a difficult concept.
Let this be a lesson for all local authorities, that when workers are united, we will never be defeated.
Workers should, and will, be central to any decision directly impacting their working conditions.
Up the workers! 💖

Deliveroo riders in the face of this hugely disappointing decision for gig economy workers.
All workers deserve the right to unionisation and collective bargaining, especially those in workforces with very few existing protections.
Breaking news: The UK Supreme Court has ruled that Deliveroo riders cannot form unions or be recognised as employees in a landmark decision for the gig economy
We’re super excited to be attending

striking workers today, because both sex workers and rail staff deserve the right to run trains in safe working conditions, with full workers' rights & protections.
P0rn performers, content creators, make sure you have your say in the U.K. government inquiry on regulation p0rn - head to the NUM members’ area to share your thoughts.
Do you create or perform in adult content online?
The UK government is running an inquiry on regulating p*rn (we got shadowbanned for saying it!) and we want to make sure your voices are heard in it!
Head over to the NUM members' area and take our survey to share your thoughts!
‘What Dancers Want’ is a mass worker’s survey, by strippers, for strippers. . Let’s make sure our voices are heard when it comes to decisions about licensing and dancers’ working conditions by taking the survey and sharing with fellow strippers.
This is a huge win not only for our members, but for all strippers, in pushing back against the implementation of dangerous nil-cap policies.
Closing down strippers’ workplaces prevents them from organising for better working conditions and accessing workers’ rights.
Despite facing the constant threat of losing their livelihoods, our members have tirelessly campaigned for their rights, including raising over £20k to take the council’s initial nil-cap ruling to a Judicial Review - where the nil-cap was declared unlawful.

Let’s talk about censorship! For a long time, sex workers have struggled against deplatforming in an industry that requires an increasing online presence. Our Instagram accounts are blocked for even just being a sex worker, even if we are not necessarily posting explicit content.
Thank you for the shoutout 💖
We’re extremely proud of the continuous work our members are doing to better the working rights and conditions of sex workers. All sex workers should have access to safety and equitable workers rights.
Solidarity with all striking delivery riders today ✊
Workers will striking across 90 zones, between 17:00-22:00, in what could be the largest platform strike in 5 years.
Get yourself down to a strike zone (linked in tweet below) and show solidarity with delivery workers.
BREAKING: Self-organised delivery riders in London & beyond to strike tomorrow!
Riders are tired of long hours, low pay, no rights, dangers of the roads & harassment from police.
The strike sends a clear message: This can't continue. United, precarious workers are unstoppable.
We are extremely proud of every member that worked on this campaign, and fought against the odds for their rights and their safety.
Thank you to everyone who donated to our fundraiser, who filled out the public consultation, and engaged with their councillors on this issue.
One of our members recently took up a case against card payment machine provider SumUp, after they closed her account simply because of the work that enables her to survive.
Do you want to support sex workers, but have no idea what the difference between legalisation and decriminalisation are?
@ukdecrimnow
have got you covered! Read through their handy explainer of the different legal frameworks, and join the movement for sex workers’ rights.
There are many different legal frameworks surrounding sex work, but only one that reduces harm to sex workers.

We are so pleased to see the responses to the recent public consultation are overwhelmingly in favour of the workers.
As members of

Just finishing another amazing political economy and organising course with
@BFAWUOfficial
members 🔥. There’s such energy and enthusiasm to get out there and organise - we’re so excited to see the union grow in strength power ✊
We are the canaries in the coal mine. To use the words of Farage, which is not a statement we ever thought we’d say (truly the one and only time we will), “if they can do it to us, they can do it to you too” - and they will come for you, so stand up now.
Even our personal bank accounts can be shut down without prior warning, leaving us unable to pay rent or bills, to feed ourselves, and putting us at risk of incurring debt, losing our homes and without any way to interact with an increasingly cashless society.
SWU members, get your notepads ready because we’re hosting a series of organising workshops run by

on the 7th, 14th and 21st November at 6pm.
If you’re a member who wants to learn how to unionise your platform, club or broth, then DM us to register your interest ❤️
The “dangers of the sex industry” are largely created by criminalisation. Under both partial and full criminalisation, sex workers are forced to work in isolation, under threat of arrest, cautions and fines, and are prevented from accessing our work and human rights.
It is shameful that a so called socialist paper, a paper of the worker, is so committed to campaigning against the rights of sex workers, ignoring the demands of our representative trade unions, and promoting a legal framework that kills us.
Solidarity to all workers who have faced instances of sexual harassment or abuse at work. Every worker deserves safe working conditions, dignity and a workplace free from harassment. We urge any worker to join their union and hold their workplace to account.
@BFAWUOfficial
@McDonaldsUK
amazing what you read on way to a Regional meeting.
Sexual harassment should not and will not be tolerated in any way shape or form. This union will stand by any member that makes any complaint against other members of staff
Curtailed our use of the platforms we use to work. A major example of this is PornHub, who had VISA and MasterCard block consumers ability to make purchases on their site. Even Onlyfans prior threats to ban adult content in 2020 were due to pressure from the payment processors.
“Workers with marginalized identities reported being hit hardest by the changes. Black performers, other performers of color, & trans and queer performers, were more likely to suffer compounding effects from the change in policies than their cis, white, or straight counterparts.”
We fully support
@ukdecrimnow
’s campaign for the full decriminalisation of sex work.
Criminalising sex work does not make it go away, it only makes working more dangerous for sex workers.
Sex workers deserve safety, and to live without the threat of arrest and violence.
Criminalisation has failed to reduce sex work. It has failed to keep sex workers safe.
Criminalisation puts sex workers in danger.
Sex workers demand full decriminalisation now.
But we need your help to achieve it.

CONGRATULATIONS! We are so so pleased for all the workers who fought for their rights, and pulled off an incredible campaign to become the only unionised strip club in the USA. We absolutely love to see it! Up the sex workers! ❤️🔥
VISA/Mastercard implemented strict restrictions for all “speciality merchants”, dictating what content sex workers’ can sell, and placing even more stringent regulations on how they upload them.
That is the only purpose of criminalisation, to cause harm to sex workers. To make sex working so untenable that it becomes too dangerous to work, without tackling any of the root causes of why people sex work. To attempt to police us out of existence & visibility.
“Fat performers -identified models, are the most likely group to see detrimental effects (they’re also disproportionately targeted by social media algorithms that ban nudity). When these identities intersect, the effects are felt even more strongly.”
