Right now a judge is deciding the fate of rescue dogs after Carla Lane Animals In Need submitted an urgent injunction application. I truly hope they are successful and the lives of countless innocent dogs are saved 🙏🏽.
We should find out tomorrow.

Me and Billy should be making an appearance on
@SkyNews
this evening to talk about how the
#xlbully
ban will affect us.
He looks unsure of the camera but he absolutely loved Chris the camera man and Rob the producer.
Me and Billy made an appearance on
@GMB
to talk about the
#XLBully
ban and our hope that the
@dontbanlicence
emergency injunction application is heard this week.
It would be a Christmas miracle for all the dogs in rescues who face being euthanised in January.
“Not a mass cull”
Yet any dog given up since November will have to be euthanised if it doesn’t find a home before the end of the year.
This is getting worse and worse.
All my hopes lie in the injunction application being heard before then.
#XLBully
We are not the only ones questioning the statistics 👀
The issue for me is that despite no one being able to type an
#xlbully
- it’s been accepted that the breed is responsible for the attacks.
Where is the DNA proof?
@dontbanlicence
@John_Cooper_QC
So I’ll forever be walking my dog on a muzzle because of THIS GROUP & now they have the audacity to call for the same things we’ve been campaigning for (while they hurl abuse at me in the comments?!)
Innocent dogs & responsible owners have paid the price for this.
With the XL Bully ban coming into effect this week, Bully Watch will be winding down. In our view, the ban is a necessary response to not only the scale of attacks we saw but also the amount of backyard breeding that was taking place. The ban will save lives. It was the only
All this ban is doing is punishing and killing innocent dogs. I can’t imagine how heartbreaking this is for people working in rescues.

@TheEconomist
@RoryJGalloway
The only thing that is dangerous is a government who don’t recognise where the real issue is - irresponsible breeding and ownership. I’m sure Newport will be trying to save us all from the next dangerous dog very soon.
We had an incredible weekend, finally meeting most of the
@dontbanlicence
team. We’ve been working together for months (voluntarily!) so it was great to get together for a weekend of dog training and strategy 🤓

You’ve given hope to so many people today who understand the realities of what this law will mean. Not the sugar coated ‘muzzle and lead’ version the Government are trying to sell.
We are all glad to be working with you on this.
Banning a ‘breed’ will not solve the bigger issue of irresponsible ownership and breeding in the UK. It will not stop dog attacks.
A government petition to repeal the ban with over 500,000 signatures shows that the public agree.

I was talking to a group of dog owners yesterday about the
#XLbully
ban and asked if they knew about the £200 compensation scheme for people who choose to euthanise their dog.
They all audibly gasped in shock. The public are generally unaware of the details of the ban & impact.
A snippet from
@GBNEWS
yesterday - My plea to the government to consider licensing over the

ban.
The big consequences of the ban are losing pet health insurance & possibly homes. But even the smaller consequences matter.

I wish in

they would put the amount the entrepreneurs are asking for and the % at the bottom of the screen because I always forget. Can you sort it
@SteveBartlettSC
I’m sure the government thought they could push this law through without a fuss & get a tick in the voting box…
These donations haven’t just come from bull breed owners, they’ve come from all different dog owners who want better legislation.
Time to listen.
@dontbanlicence
Perhaps Neil Hudson should watch this video. He said in the EFRA evidence meeting that we need to stop referring to the
#xlbully
ban as a ‘cull’.
Well that’s exactly what these animal charities are calling it.
A knee jerk reaction that will negatively impact the welfare of many dogs, or worse, be their death sentence.
@dontbanlicence
has instructed
@John_Cooper_QC
and we hope a better solution for the future of responsible dog ownership can be fought for.

The dog spent the afternoon in the pub with my partner getting attention from everyone who passed the table.
It makes me sad that this might not be possible next year.
Muzzle = no bone. Also not fair to muzzle for so long while we eat lunch.
@Mikkb123
@GMB
No I wouldn’t, I always supervise my dog around children and make sure children know how to appropriately behave around the dog. Just as any responsible dog owner should

I’ve had overwhelming empathy from people out and about all saying it’s not the dog it’s the owner.
I also interviewed with Channel 5 last week & they said the vast majority of public response was against a breed ban.
The gov, police, councils all know this.
@SteveBartlettSC
Hi
@SteveBartlettSC
could you clarify what you mean by ‘partnered’? Is access to the podcast gifted to the prisons or will they have to pay some kind of licence?
Maybe it’s not the best use of the word because partnerships today tend to mean money has exchanged hands 🤷🏽♀️
I will keep saying this:
- register all dogs.
- licence all breeders.
- educate for responsible dog ownership.
Bring in tough punishments NOW
Instead of getting out a tape measure to try to work out what constitutes a dangerous dog.

I chose a Bully! He’s been everything we could have wanted in a pet. Energy for long walks but totally chilled at home. Super affectionate, eager to learn. Never had any problems with chewing furniture, resource guarding etc. A very easy dog! I take training v. seriously too.
This is how the gov are ‘selling’ the ban to the public. Muzzle. lead. Not so bad?
Failing to mention it’s an indirect cull of dogs who cannot be rehomed. People in social housing forced to give up their dog. No health insurance. Low quality of life for any dog who ‘looks’ type.
I've signed the legislation to ban XL Bully type dogs, for public safety.
From 31 December, dogs will have to be muzzled and on a lead in public.
From 1st February 2024, it will be illegal to own XL Bully unless it is registered on index of exempted dogs.
Difficult times require extraordinary actions... here's a special edition of Dogs Today all about the ban, why it's bad news and how you can help to fight it.
Please share it as widely as you can

It’s all very well if they’re better than importing but still going to be extortionate compared to eating in season. 🙄
This book has been quite timely & I couldn’t recommend it enough. I love the amount of research & science backed evidence- it’s always important to me to get proof! I’ll be making some changes in how I operate based on this 🙌🏽

@CommonsEFRA
Implementing a ban that will affect hundreds of thousands of responsible dog owners is going to have a huge impact in terms of costs, mental health, not to mention the euthanasia of countless healthy dogs.
I truly hope you listen to the real experts and evidence.
I saw this online and it shows why the
#xlbullly
ban and the targeting of a breed/type does not address the root cause of the dog problem: irresponsible breeding and ownership.
What breed is next then?

This is going to be deep because it was written in the 70’s - but Freedom To Live by Dr Robert S. Hartman is half his story about escaping Nazi Germany and then half his philosophies on good/evil and how to develop ‘good’. He was Nobel Prize nominated for his work!

- I hope you’ll be attending the parliamentary debates on Monday at 4:30pm.
The debates are on the

petition + the

petition which has over 600,000 signatures - 365 of which are from your constituency.
I have emailed you further info. Thanks.
The one thing we all commented on, was how nice it was to meet so many bully breeds and see their similarities and differences. A great weekend and a reminder that we are on a mission when it comes to responsible dog ownership in the UK 💙
As the UK’s largest

Signing some legal documents today and I liked to see that my money was going towards a staff wellbeing fund (kind of cute as I work in wellbeing!)
I did say I was happy if the wellbeing fund was also a pub fund, no problem with that at all on a Friday!
We’ve written to

@ChiefVetUK
today outlining our concerns around the impact of the forthcoming ban on XL Bully dogs on the veterinary profession, as part of our ongoing engagement with Government on this issue.

It’s the bold assumption too. I said my dog is socialised with children but I always take precautions. I would never leave any dog alone with any child it’s just common sense 🙈

We are getting a lot of messages from people with dogs that are some of the breeds you’ve described above. Yes they could exempt and keep their dog ‘safe’ but what about all the other consequences of having a banned breed.
And more.
This is creating a mental health crisis and some sort of sick pop quiz where we are being asked to judge whether to exempt our dogs or face the consequences.
#xlbully
@jellymalin
Absolutely completely agree with this. I swear some people would rather mindset themselves into inaction than take action.
Also... I’ve dipped into clubhouse and just felt like every single speaker was selling something 😬

Interesting day to release this information when they acknowledged the court documents from

Funny how mine doesn’t look like the stock images, chosen specifically to make the dog look aggressive.
Here he is enjoying a lovely bit of watermelon
Had to tell
@example
what an old school fan I am- first gig was supporting
@DizzeeRascal
at Ibiza Rocks, then supporting Lily Allen then at some grotty club in Southampton. Thanks for being cool! Look how happy I am 🙈😂
Meanwhile I’ve got mine on a lead because he doesn’t have 100% recall, and we had passed all types of dogs yesterday where mine either ignored them or was friendly / had a quick sniff.
Come January, mine will also have to wear a muzzle, even though he’s never shown aggression…
If the government cared for animal welfare & public safety they would be looking at new legislation, not adding to 20+yr old DDA that does not work!
- Register - Licence - Educate.
A desperate attempt for votes.
I will talk to any journo about this today.

It’s clear the American XL Bully dog is a danger to our communities.
I’ve ordered urgent work to define and ban this breed so we can end these violent attacks and keep people safe.
