All the British holidaymakers stranded by Thomas Cook must be delighted by the EU law (Eu261) which gives them financial protection.
Until 31 Oct at any rate.
You may not agree with him.
You may not like him.
You might not vote for him.
But trapping a young man , his wife and new born infant in their home is scurrilous, despicable behaviour.
This is not Ireland. Get a grip.
There's a lot of women queuing for Penneys today because they need pyjamas, along with baby clothes & underwear for kids. They're going early because they dont have to take the kids.
Not because they "want pyjamas".
Tried to park in Lidl to get a few bits (NOT stockpiling). Waited 30 mins for a parking space. Drove away in frustration & found zero queues in local greengrocer, butcher & fishmonger. Sorted.

Worth remembering that the Quinn Levy remains imposed on every single insurance policy sold today. Every premium, every person, every year.

Easiest vote I ever cast.
Also added fun with reporting 4 No posters across road from polling station put up overnight. €1000 fine each 😄

Happy Christmas to the Barrister (self described) who complained to my (min wage) waiter son about a discrepancy between menu pic & dish received threatening restaurant closure. On Xmas eve. He was (unsurprisingly) dining alone. 👋
We're told the delay in rolling out the vaccine which is sitting in a warehouse, is 'complex consent' forms.
Just a random thought: couldn't we have done all this while we were waiting?
Wonder how many mothers are a bit pi**ed off that they have to arrange childcare on
#InternationalWomensDay
because the Govt has closed schools for referendums ... to remove the word "mother" from the constitution 🤪
In case anybody still thinks disgusting posters are put up by both sides, the equivalent for the Yes campaign would be images of babies with fatal disabilities, dying women or raped 12 year olds.
So no, we don't do that.
#repealthe8th
Ate in a restaurant tonight. Tables of 2 4, 6 all 2m apart. Stupidly forgot my mask. They sold me one for €5. Spotless & safe. This is not the problem, just closing good businesses.
The Beacon hospital is in the Sandyford industrial estate.
St Gerard's school is is a different county. I get that some teachers may live in Sandyford but there's a primary school ACROSS THE ROAD from the Beacon if teachers were the intention.

Full name & shameful list of alleged rioters last night.
To nobody's surprise, free legal aid features prominently.
Men and women aged 19 to 57 appear in court on public order, theft and other charges following Dublin rioting
Our 4 children are all in different countries tonight, none of them Ireland.
I cannot tell you how disconcerting this is if you're still a parent of small people still clinging to your knees who won't let you out of their sight.
Okay. So here's a random thought: instead of moving the homeless out of Dublin hotels for the pope's visit, let's move pope's entourage to the country & tell them housing the homeless is what Jesus would do. 😐
It appears that NPHET are briefing the media again ahead of its primary function of advising Cabinet causing speculation and worry.
If this leaking continues, questions must be asked as to whether or not the body is fit for purpose in its current form.
I was in the city centre late last night trying in vain to get a taxi for 2 hours. 2 people helped: a nice hotel concierge & a fantastic taxi driver who eventually came to my aid despite his cab being attacked earlier. Both were immigrants to our country. Both v welcome.
The Citizens' Assembly, chaired by Catherine McGuinness and widely derided by No camp as being unrepresentative of the Irish public voted 69% to hold a Referendum. The Irish public voted to Repeal by 69%.

reports:
Stephen Donnelly "hopes" all maternity hospitals will comply with fathers' access. The worry is why he cannot ORDER them to so do.
Why not, is precisely the reason women are so concerned about the St. Vincents/NMH situation in providing all healthcare.
"Aisling Riordan is a mother of three ..." starts
@PaschalSheehy
on his report about hi-tech jobs in Cork, of which hers is one. Would ANY story of a Male exec start with "John a father of three ..."
No!
@rtenews
Happy to be corrected, but does this word not simply mean "very tired"?
Its other form, a noun, is of course, insulting to the Traveller community.
Sen Flynn said they "sound similar" which is offensive, but so do pear, pair and pare.
Singer Dermot Kennedy has been criticised for using the term "k****ered* during an interview
Senator Eileen Flynn has written a letter to the singer and is telling
@kierancuddihy
why that language is offensive to the travelling community
Listen here:
Chair asks Kelly what he does.
"Marketing"
"Where did you work before ?"
Kelly mentions Cadburys.
"What were you selling for Cadburys?"
silence.
"Chocolate".
In any other sphere this would be A-ok. A benefit in lieu of fee from a grateful company. He wasn't taking a car allowance, didn't charge & had permission.
At some point, we have to move on here. I don't know Marty, but let's call this one a venial rather than a mortlar.
VOTE:
Remember you are being asked to vote YES to the 36th Amendment, not "Repeal the 8th"! That's the way the Ballot paper is designed & it's confusing, so we need people to be sure.
Whether a 10 or 12 week limit is chosen in
#repealthe8th
wording, it is a medical fact that Downs Syndrome cannot be diagnosed within this gestation period; therefore, anti choice side using these families for agenda is disingenuous at best.
By my cursory maths, you're foregoing €52,624 by waiting until 70, to gain €62 extra p.w., meaning it's 16 years before you catch up.....
NOBODY should do that - it's madness!
If Primetime is unable to find a No speaker tonight why not ask one of the eminent, currently employed Consultant Obstetricians in one of our major mayernity hospitslswho object to Repeal.
Spoiler alert: Because there aren't any.
I'm confused at the Longford traveller wedding story. Gardai had a court order to take down the marquee, but didn't. 120 people in it while they kept a 'watching brief'.
What were they watching? 👀
Another "heatwave" on the way.
Spare us please the doom-mongers of medics & meteorologists in favour of ice-cream vendors 🍦, Sun hat sellers 👒& joyous children🏄♀️🚣♀️🤾♀️🤹♀️!
It's GREAT news!!
If I am to do this, then I have to put them in the boot of my car and drive back to the supermarket, rather than recycle them in by green bin, which I'm already paying for.
The upcoming Deposit Return Scheme represents a major change for shoppers & businesses.
From 1 February, customers will have to pay a 15-25c deposit on every plastic bottle or can they buy & they'll have to bring back their empties to get that refunded
So... First indoor dining experience since ... whenever.
Walk in, no booking.

"Yes!". *searches app for covid cert & passport*
"Ah I'll take your word for it".
"Do you want my contact details?"

@rtenews
Tubridy and Kelly are fuming. If they are believed (and back up documentation would suggest they should be), then RTE may well land themselves in a far worse court than an Oireactas committee.
The border is once again the Covid elephant in the room.
There is literally no point in banning UK flights to Dublin if they simply fly to Belfast, decant passengers and bus them down here.
I'm curious about the still relentless number of Covid cases, 1200+ today. We've been 4 weeks locked down 🤔. Had to collect my phone from repair this afternoon, circled twice in shopping centre for parking 🤨. Are there shops open I'm missing? 🤷♀️
Watching Juncker slip effortlessly from English to German to French in his address while May fiddles with her translator earpiece is just so ...

Someone complained today that I said a "rude word" on

last night. In my defence I was provoked by 3 politicians, not to mention Ivan. And it's 3 hours past the watershed.
The word was "bloody".

I hope someone has taken the time to tell Praveen Halappanaver that we're sorry it took so long. Savita was in everyone's thoughts today who put an X in the Yes box. RIP.
I wrote a lot about Patrick Neary's utter failure as Regulator at the time. The only time he complained was when I referred to him as 'Paddy' in print.

I had occasion to listen to some radio today. Personally I'd have thought that if one had a child and was unable to care for it, dropping it off at outside a hospital would be preferable to leaving it exposed on a beach. Apparently this is no longer an acceptable thought.
Peter Fitzpatrick reads out his questions, which is annoying. He seems unconvinced about LLS resignation. Tubs has answered this at least 20 times already. It's extremely tiresome at this stage.
Swear to god the weirdest story from today. The utter self aggrandizing arrogance from a man responsible, by virtue of his gambling, for a levy on every single insurance policy we buy for the next 20 years.

Hubby: It's Monday. We don't drink on Monday.
Me: I just anchored 3 hours of live radio ffs!!.

'Before he was Harry Styles'.

I do hope that someone who knows Joanne Hayes tells her the majority of Irish women believed and trusted her in 1984 and wish her well now.

It's worth remembering that if the 8th is repealed on Friday we still won't have abortion.
On Friday, Saturday & every other day, 9 women will still be travelling.
There will be no law. The actual work will only be beginning.
