One of my favorite things in DnD is when the party has gotten too rich to deal with copper and silver, and also wants to live the truly impossible fantasy of being ridiculously rich. I'll be like "that'll be 4 copper for your ale" and they're like "w/e I give them 10 gold."

Some things I still feel aren't pushed enough in TTRPG: 1) The GM is also a player, and they aren't the sole person responsible for the game being fun, and 2) as a GM, if you aren't having fun? A good group will want to help fix that and ensure everyone is enjoying themselves.

I have another very non-nuanced DnD DM opinion for today: If a player wants to switch characters? Just let 'em. If they're unhappy, don't try to talk them out of it or negotiate. If it's a question of affecting the story, consider that maybe the plot needs to be more fluid.

Increasingly I find the best GM/DM advice for running a #TTRPG / #DnD is also the simplest: never lose sight of the fact your friends - the real, actual people playing with you - are the ones controlling the characters, and their feelings should matter more than the game.

Something I don't often see discussed for new DM/GMs is that you should be aware your players can and will make ANY NPC into a sudden backbone of the campaign. Basically, I'm saying be careful of the ones you go "his name is, uh, Jjjim... bo. Jimbo." Jimbo is gonna be important.

Simple roleplay advice for TTRPG players that's still worth repeating: The best way to get people to be interested in YOUR character... is to be legitimately interested in OTHERS' characters, and find ways to engage the rest of the table.
