Two minutes of complete silence at an airport, it seems impossible. But every year, on the 4th of May, Schiphol becomes completely quiet. Today we commemorate all war casualties and everyone who fought for our freedom.
Down through the years
Take-offs and landings
Ups and downs
Braving the elements
Our first love
and our longest relation
Even after 100 years
still up in the clouds
Congratulations on your 100th birthday
@KLM
💙
A warm welcome to the newest member of KLM’s fleet – the Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner. The plane has a special logo to celebrate the airline’s 100th anniversary. What a beauty!

There have been no changes at our airport for UK travellers. New staff members were being trained yesterday, leading to longer queues at the passport control than usual. Sadly, this tweet has taken on a life of its own. For further reference: ^Jonathan

Have you spotted the Pride baggage belt yet? It will be here until the 6th of August to celebrate Pride Amsterdam, which is taking place this week! 🏳️🌈

The government's experimental regulation is being suspended. This means that the maximum of 460,000 flights no longer applies. We are disappointed by this development seeing as the regulatory scheme gave local residents clarity and certainty.
It's our birthday today. Schiphol was founded exactly 104 years ago. Even though we're not having a big celebration this year, we want to thank you for all the times you travelled via Schiphol and we hope to see you again soon!

Some spotters take such professional-looking photos that they deserve to be in the spotlight. Mike Rozeboom: Many airlines land at Schiphol every day. I try to take the most attractive photos possible of them. Like this one of a Korean Air Airbus A330 getting ready for take-off.
Today, the new

A340-300 landed at Schiphol for the first time. This colourful Airbus will be flying between Schiphol and Paramaribo on a regular basis ✈️
Today, on the 4th of May, we held a two-minute silence. We did this together in remembrance of all victims of war and everyone who fought so hard for our freedom.

De-ice, de-ice baby ❄️ We have to admit, de-icing planes looks quite "cool". And when those anti-collision lights hit, the aircraft look "extra fresh".
Ok, enough ice jokes for today 🤐
Fly by! The Royal Netherlands Air Force KDC-10 made a farewell flight through the Netherlands today. Schiphol was one of the airports this special tanker and transport aircraft – which can refuel fighter jets mid-air – flew past on its final voyage 🇳🇱
Today marked the one-millionth taxi ride to leave the Schiphol taxi stand in 2018. Of these journeys, around 70% were driven in a Tesla: electric and no emissions. …
The famous Dutch fast-food outlet FEBO has opened its doors at Schiphol Plaza. This is the brand's first branch at an airport in the Netherlands. And of course, the iconic 'snack wall' can be found in-store! 🍔
Unusual cargo passing through our airport this week: components of the

mission to planet Mercury are being transported by the Antonov.
Here's an example of why Schiphol will remain open. So we can still receive planes carrying surgical face masks and other medical supplies that Dutch healthcare workers so desperately need. It's great to see that
@KLM
is using passenger planes to carry this precious cargo💙
It's finally happening! As of this morning, the panorama terrace is open again for all ages. The first visitors arrived early today. When will your next plane spotting trip be?
Schiphol is covered in snow. We are working day and night to make air traffic possible. Looking at the forecast, flights may be delayed or cancelled tomorrow, Monday February 8th. For questions about your flight please contact your airline.

Say hello to the first electric aircraft at Schiphol! It made its first touchdown this morning. This marks the start of another important step in making aviation more sustainable 🛩️
