A little reminder. This is the guy they're cheering on: "I have said for a long time that I believe in rule by a military caste of men who would be able to guide society toward a morality of eugenics." "I believe in Fascism or 'something worse'".
@realchrisrufo
Isn't there a curious puzzle here? Why would "Selective Breeding" have instantly rocketed to bestseller status unless on the basis of BAP's established fan base? Actually, I *am* tempted to tell your mother: that the appeal to eugenics & military dictatorship doesn't trouble you.
Arguably, Christopher Rufo's pat-on-the-back to Bronze Age Pervert/Alamariu should get no less publicity than Nate Hochman's use of the Sonnenrad on the DeSantis video.

@ILLSP_GWU
Suppose BAP/Alamariu took a chunk of his profits from BAM & used it to purchase enough copies of his Yale thesis to get the book into the Amazon top 100. Impossible?
No one can convince me that these people are jumping on the "Selective Breeding & Birth of Philosophy" bandwagon without knowing that Alamariu = BAP. Hanania in fact says it directly in his pro-Alamariu tweet.

You don't find it insane that someone best known for spreading Pizzagate lies has millions of social media followers, & is the "George F. Will" of the current iteration of the Trump-worshipping GOP?

A mobster with lots to hide should not run for President of the United States. Not smart. Violates elementary principles of prudence.
"BAP’s image of male predation, rapine and pillage is the fantasy of an aspiring teenage gang member in a disintegrating modern city." "His adolescent philosophy will soon be forgotten." Let's hope so!

100%! What Trump & now DeSantis have said about J6 pardons is absolutely disqualifying. The U.S. surely doesn't need pro-insurrectionists as President!
@SethAbramson
A typically illuminating commentary by Abramson on yesterday's interview. DT's reference to "The Resistance" (= Resistance to Comey, not Resistance to Trump!) is rather mysterious, until SA (persuasively) explains it.
The more time I spend on

With Cheney, it's starting to take on the feel of a one-woman campaign to take down Trump. Also starting to feel as if Trump has more to fear from Liz Cheney than from Garland.
Seems important to set this straight, esp. at a time when Duginite ideology is contributing to the horrors in Ukraine. For those who may be interested, I've posted a somewhat longer, footnoted version on my page. Here's the link:
@mmpadellan
This is not good news! 44% of voters are willing to put back in the White House someone whose never-ceasing crime spree brings down upon himself indictment after indictment, both state & federal? Totally dysfunctional political culture.
@SethAbramson
*Totally* unhinged. FBI = "a den of thieves and lowlifes". Doesn't that pretty much automatically count as sufficient grounds for 25th Amendment?
I'm announcing that I'm now *officially* a pessimist about the human condition. Despite the odds, for 68 years I remained -- at least officially -- an optimist in spirit. Yesterday was the last straw.
Anyone who thinks Dugin & Duginism are a purely intra-Russian affair should check out WAR FOR ETERNITY by
@BenTeitel
Bannon & Dugin met for 8 hours (!) in a hotel room in Rome in November of 2018. Teitelbaum reconstructs the whole conversation in Chapter 12 of his book.
"Carey McWilliams grew up with a very strong sense that while there were limitations to the desirability of the liberal order, there were alternatives that are much more frightening - and I don’t see that [sense] in Patrick’s more recent writing" (quote from McWilliams' daughter)
To be clear: This is a nicely written, even-handed profile of a very well-connected guy who just published a book advocating the violent overthrow of liberalism in the United States. 1/8

Absolutely jaw-dropping responses from Trump. And this is after 8 years of hearing all kinds of insane & vile things coming out of his mouth. But this really takes the cake. It's like him holding up a placard saying: I'm a monster & I'm 100% proud of it!
Sure, he has legions of fascist followers. But enough to turn the Alamariu thesis into a bestseller? And would enough of those followers care in the slightest about his scholarship on Plato & Nietzsche? Interesting questions.
Impossible that people are buying this book because they're interested in the scholarship of Costin Vlad Alamariu. They're obviously buying it because they see Bronze Age Pervert as the supreme guru of the new fascist age. Surely buying the book to discover "the early BAP"!
@DougSaunders
Worth re-reading 8 years later! "If his language is taken at face value, Putin has become an ethnic-nationalist menace to his people & region, a Slobodan Milosevic with better weapons."
As goes without saying, absolutely *jaw-dropping* that someone who held a senior position in the White House for seven months is not only a big Dugin fan, but was willing to go on record about this!
"One of the best ways to conceal your genocidal fascism is to write about it openly in that most unread of documents, the unpublished doctoral dissertation."
@gcaw
On p. 96 of the book, Bannon says to Teitelbaum: "You know, I'm, I'm such a fan of his writing..." According to Teitelbaum, Bannon was particularly enamoured of Dugin's The Fourth Political Theory.
Impossible to interpret this otherwise than by concluding that Trump brought a fascist into the White House as senior advisor. Only a fascist could rave about Dugin, & seek him out for an 8-hour conversation about how to coordinate their deranged plans for the world.
@RWPUSA
Look, if Russia could veto Mitt Romney as S of S because he was too critical of Putin, surely they could push Trump to ditch Tillerson for the same reason. All too predictable.

Completely outrageous that Trump should be tolerated in mounting a campaign of steady intimidation, including intimidation of the chief prosecutor. The justice system needs to let him know in no uncertain terms that this is not how accused criminals are allowed to behave!

Also: We know from Benjamin Teitelbaum's recent book, War for Eternity, that Beattie is part of Bannon's circle. Hence, if Gaetz is implicated in white nationalism via Beattie, then the same applies to Bannon.

"Progressive voices". Profoundly false advertising. Bannon, Jordan Peterson, Farage, Newt Gingrich, Strassel, Ingraham, Marc Steyn, etc. Hard to find people more anti-progressive.
Yes, everything happening right now to Trump is unprecedented. But you know what? A President losing an election and THEN refusing to participate in the peaceful transfer of power and THEN engaging in an insurrection to try to overthrow the election is UNPRECEDENTED TOO.
@NormOrnstein
But it's possible to say: it's not news. Trump already proved his commitment to shredding the Constitution on J6. Did anyone think that Trump believes that the Constitution counts for anything?
@TimothyDSnyder
Seemingly (though it's extremely hard to know what actually happened) both Putin & Prigozhin were big losers in the on-and-off-again coup. Prigozhin lost Wagner. And Putin is wounded - hopefully mortally wounded. Crowds cheering Wagner = total puncturing of his aura of authority.

Surely not irrelevant to point out that Rufo recently congratulated a rock-star fascist & racist on publication of his new book. Impossible that Rufo didn't know what he was doing.
@tribelaw
"Now it’s up to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) to decide if he will exercise his constitutional obligations or if he’ll continue as Trump’s enabler." Unfortunately, I think we already know the outcome.
And consider this: *If* Alamariu plowed money into stirring up a buzz around the Plato/Nietzsche book, he could *easily* recoup that money via the resulting sales. Like I said: an intriguing way of accounting for a phenomenon that is otherwise pretty baffling.
@lionel_trolling
Worth noting that one prominent pol actor who yearns for “American Völkisch” is *Bannon*. Very clear in the Bannon-Dugin conversation related by Teitelbaum in WAR FOR ETERNITY. Bannon: "liberals & globalists" have wrongly interpreted U.S. as a nation defined by republican ideals.
