I can't believe the Avs didn't make a trade while I was in a doctor's appointment. PS I'm down 40 pounds from August which I know nobody cares about but me but I'm really proud of myself so im sharing. Thanks for listening lol
I absolutely love the villain Cale Makar era. Playoffs create this stuff and now Seattle gets their hate on with maybe the most likable pro athlete on earth. Sports rule
Nathan MacKinnon a cool 11 points behind Sakic's Avalanche record of 120 points with 18 games to play. We may never see another Avs season like this in our lives, so soak it all in
Avs get a roster spot, $1M in cap space, a 7th round pick this year, and a prospect in exchange for a guy who averaged 5:05 of ice time this year.
Pretty tidy bit of business. Clearing space.
MacDermid leaves Colorado forever a Stanley Cup champion.
Stanley Cup Final totals:
Andrei Vasilevskiy: 2-4, .905 sv%
Darcy Kuemper: 4-2, .908 sv%
After the teams traded blowouts in G2 and G3:
Vasilevskiy: 1-2, .933 sv%
Kuemper: 2-1, .934 sv%
Byram scores and I finally get to tell this story.
When Byram was a rookie in the WHL, he was getting chirped by an older player and Byram responded by saying "Buddy in two years you're going to be working 9-to-5 and I'm gonna be making 9-2-5 keep your f****** mouth shut"
I say this because this morning I married my best friend, my favorite human. She's insanely patient, handling my demanding career with love and grace. She lifts me up and helps me be my best version. We're a team and Im so excited for our life together.
My pops died in 2003, so I'm accustomed to glossing over this day, but this year is tougher. Not having him for the Kansas natty was hard, this stuff with the Avs has quadrupled that. Thinkin about him a lot today. He ruled. Make ya memories while ya can, fam.
Did not see Artturi Lehkonen being Colorado's best forward in the series but really really did not see Val Nichushkin and Casey Mittelstadt being second and third on that list
Last year through 7 playoff games, the Avs had:
-9 players with points
-7 players with at least 3 points
-3 multi-goal scorers
-1 non-top-6 F point
This year through 3 games:
-14 players with points
-9 players with at least 3 points
-5 multi-goal scorers
-8 non-top-6 F points
We got to see the version of Nazem Kadri we had waited for his entire NHL career last year. The one where his game met his intensity at the perfect center point and produced an all-world player. He was incredible for the Avs and should be remembered only fondly.
That overtime ruled. That game ruled.
Avs 2 back of Winnipeg with the Jets to play tonight. 5 back of the top seed with games in hand.
The west had 50 games and f'd around. Now they findin out. Game on
53 wins. A franchise record.
These are the golden days you reminisce about when things get bad again someday.
Appreciate the moment. It's okay to enjoy today and leave the worry about tomorrow for tomorrow.
All love, Avs fans
Love you so much, Avs fans
We wouldn't be here without yall. This passion would burn less brightly without yall
A disappointing end but there's a renewed vigor in covering a team that has obvious weaknesses to talk about for two months.
And the draft! We care about it again!
This is the first picture
@zeedlle
and I ever took. It was in Vancouver after the NHL Draft. It was our first time meeting as a couple. I knew immediately I was big In Love with her. I proposed to her later that summer. I had failed a lot in love, all it prepped me for her.
The Altitude and KSE family are saddened to announce the passing of our friend, Peter McNab. Our hearts go out to his family and friends, and the McNab family asks for privacy during this unimaginably difficult time.
Just some numbers for you.
Since the Avs started 4-5-1, the Avs have gone 24-3-2. That's 50 of the last 58 points.
Across 82 games, that's a 141-point pace.
Have a good night.
Honestly, I'm about it.
We watched Nazem Kadri fight TWICE for the Justin Faulk hit. There are bigger fish to fry tomorrow, but MacDdermid should be in at forward and Eberle has to drop the gloves.
Hockey crimes are to be answered for here. He owes the Avs a fight
If Landeskog makes it back, Ball Arena should give him the longest standing ovation since Joe Sakic's retirement night.
Avs have to host Round 1 Game 1 just in case.
2 things:
-Obviously different situations but the way Couturier has performed after missing so much time has given me optimism about Landy in a return
-Every time I feel pessimistic I imagine the Ball arena crowd going batshit for his first shift back
This is the most exhausting Avalanche season I've ever covered. The season was a taxing grind and now the playoffs has turned into a chaos-fueled mess already. It feels cursed. But also sometimes life is just hard.
I really can't believe the Avs won the Central Division with all the nonsense they had to deal with this season. We talk a lot on the shows about how elite talent drives so much success in the NHL but this year's Avs are a great example of the power of culture, too.
Seven goals against and it's "not all of them are on the goalie"
They lost by one???? How many do you need to blame on him to feel like maybe he has to be better??
Is Georgiev the first goaltender to play behind a team that allows scoring chances? It's his job to stop pucks??
Hate it for Landeskog, hate it for Colorado's chances to repeat. Winning the Stanley Cup is the hardest mountain to climb in team sports and it just got a lot harder. Hope 92 is doing okay. You know this is eating him up.
You absolutely have to tip the cap to Alexandar Georgiev in that situation. Maybe his career on the line and he responded like that? Sports are the best
The Avs dropped the hammer on the first-place team in the west and smoked them in the third period of a segababa and we out here fighting about the goalie again. That was championship team stuff last night, a reason to believe. If the guy in net is your reason not to, fair enough
Would actually love to hear why you think it's Kadri! He was wildly popular in Colorado in both the locker room and the community. Franchise players already were wanting out of Calgary before Kadri got there, why would you assume he was the problem this past season?
Since the calendar flipped to 2023, Alexandar Georgiev is:
11-4-1
.929 save percentage
1 shutout
He played five of six during the three straight back-to-backs, going 4-0-1 with a .931.
Huge month from him.
If the Avs add Val Nichushkin, Nikolai Kovalenko, and potentially two centers at the deadline, I would probably feel really good about them heading into the postseason
Hockey needs more personality?
Insert Gabe Landeskog, usually the adult in the room, trying his best to rack up FCC fines lmao
Maybe hockey just needs more parades
"He always wants to fight somebody"
Everybody knows this guy is a fraud. Stop protecting him. He's earned the beating of a lifetime from another goalie
Already been an emotional week but wanted to make sure to say thank you to everyone. We've worked so hard to make the show interesting and engaging and relatable with quality information. Some days are better than others but y'all always show up and give us the love <3
Nobody covered it like we did and the the country took notice!
Congratulations to our
@DNVR_Avalanche
team and thank you to all of our amazing listeners!
If you haven't already, you can check out the pod here โฌ๏ธ

In the last two years with an elite offense and historic power play driven by two of the best forwards in the world, the Edmonton Oilers have gone 2-8 in games against Laurent Brossoit, Adin Hill, and Pavel Francouz.
I can't help but laugh that we spent so much time talking about how the Avs needed to recreate the Evan Rodrigues situation and they might have one-upped themselves.
ERod: $2M
Drouin/Tatar: $2.325M
You mean to tell me that a guy who only played in the NHL because he was a goon and was suspended for saying some racist shit wants to talk about reputations?
We for real with this?
Today was obviously a very cool and fun day for
@DNVR_Avalanche
but I wanted to give a special shoutout to
@megangley
. She has been spectacular this season and I am incredibly proud to see her becoming the face of Avalanche coverage. She is the DNVR dream realized
Avs added to the NHL roster:
-Josh Manson
-Nico Sturm
-Artturi Lehkonen
-Andrew Cogliano
Removed from the roster:
-Tyson Jost
Basically impossible to argue Colorado isn't better suited for their Cup run right now
So there's a draft lottery and the Avs were coming off the worst season in the league and their reward was a less than 20% chance to win the first overall pick and they somehow managed to fall all the way to the fourth pick in what was considered a weak draft but they got Cale Ma
Genuinely curious if Tampa Bay has collectively acted this way at any point during their run. Composure has been such a hallmark of their greatness that this is interesting to see.
Jonathan Drouin has been fun to watch as he's gone from early-season healthy scratch to growing his two-way game and maturing into an important part of the Avalanche offense. This is an appreciation tweet
