Just want everyone to know that I’m starting to feel better and can concentrate on something other than my health. R now, listening to
@JaredSandler
and David Murphy calling tonight’s Rangers game at Oakland. I can’t say “thank you” enough to everyone for all the well-wishes, 1/
Just an amazing day today and incredible last 48 hours! Thanks to everyone who came out to the parade and to so many who expressed their joy/elation over the World Series. And a special thanks to all for your kind words regarding our broadcasts. We appreciate each and every one!
Only other time García struck out 4 times in a game this season? Sept 3rd vs Minnesota. In his 5th at-bat that afternoon, García clubbed a walkoff HR to give the Rangers a 6-5 win.
Getting the band back together. Eric returns to lead us and we are thankful and grateful for his presence. And many thanks to Mike Peasley, Chris Blake, Zack Wolchuk, John Rhadigan and Mike Bacsik for their diligence and quality work all year long. Great guys all!!
Thanks again to everyone for all the well-wishes, prayers and warm sentiments during my time away. Your expressions and outreach were and continue to be immensely helpful. I look forward to joining
@nadeler
and
@JaredSandler
on tonight’s broadcast.
#Grateful
Was going through some stuff just now and found this. Took a screenshot back on January 25th. While it was just one outlet’s opinion, it was an entertaining presentation of the prevailing “wisdom” just ahead of spring training. A reminder - no one knows anything in baseball.
Man, the outpouring of love, support and congratulations last night and today has been overwhelming! Thanks to everyone who has reached out…
@nadeler
and
@JaredSandler
and I truly appreciate y’all. Shout out to
@PeasRadio
and
@Ken_Mendez
and so many others who have worked… 1/x
What a day. What a park. So fortunate to be a small part of this wonderful organization. Thanks to all of our faithful listeners...we appreciate all of you so very much!
#FarewellGLP
Choo’s bunt single today and his all-out effort to reach first was a genuine twinkling star moment. A pro’s pro and real class act. Wishing Choo the best in whatever the future holds.
...prayers and messages of love and support. It has all been so very appreciated, and I’m overwhelmed by the outpouring. Pls continue to listen to Jared and David and show them your love. I hope to be back as soon as I’m healthy and cleared. Thanks again, love you all! 2/2
Walk into store. Get cart. Cart is like butter, smooth roll. I remark “this cart is awesome!” My wife immediately says “you are just like that Progressive commercial!”
Given our current situation, seems like a good time to remind everyone about a book that should be required reading. Thanks to
@RadioFreeTom
for writing a book so precise for our times (and unfortunately desperately needed).
Please be smart and stay safe.
Heartwarming to see the love and support for Eric this morning following his announcement. Thanks to everyone who has expressed concern and understanding for Eric. We all look forward to his return when he is ready.
Meant to tweet this before the game but my old self struggled with the whole multi-tasking thing. Series with the Rays continues tomorrow night and Wednesday afternoon.
Hit the nail on the head. Bed time came immediately after Cosell’s highlight package. If your team was featured (not all were), it was the icing on the cake.
2020 here we come! Baseball reimagined. Rockies vs Rangers, Opening Night tonight from Globe Life Field.
@nadeler
,
@JaredSandler
and yours truly with
@ankhaw93
at the helm. Coverage gets underway at 6:30 tonight on
@1053thefan
and the Rangers Radio Network.
Watching Stars.
Wife: “Knights? They don’t look like Knights. They look like nuggets. The Golden Nuggets. Like the hotel.”
Me: “What should a Knight look like?”
Wife: “They should wear silver. They’re in yellow. I’m calling them the Nuggets.”
Go Stars!
Words don’t fully convey how much we appreciate Rangers’ fans and our devoted listeners. Thank you for including us on the ride. And here are some pics to add to the words.
Rollin’ into today’s pre-game show like...
Our coverage begins tonight at 6:30 on
@1053thefan
and the Rangers Radio Network. Jared & Jake chat it up on The Warmup Show round about 6:50ish.
With 2018 in the rear view mirror...thanks to each and every one of you Rangers’ fans for listening to us and for your support. We are forever grateful!
Always nice to come home to a warm greeting after a long road trip.
Son: “Where did you get that shirt - from the 70s? Mom...look at Dad’s shirt!
Wife: “You’re kidding, right? The guys make you wear that shirt? You didn’t actually pay money for that, did you?!
Ahh...I’m home.
We are devastated. In shock. Sending love and the warmest condolences to Ted’s family and good friends. Ted was the best. He cared deeply about the quality of his work and the people that he loved. Gone way too soon. May he rest in peace.
The Texas Rangers send their thoughts and prayers to the family of the team’s radio network engineer Ted Nichols-Payne, who passed away suddenly on Sunday afternoon at the age of 56. He was the the primary radio engineer of Rangers broadcasts for most of the last 30 years.
When Colon retired Springer leading off the bottom of the 7th, he had retired 27 consecutive batters, including the final 8 Angels he faced last Tuesday. All told, before he walked Correa to start the 8th, Colon retired 29 straight batters over two games.

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments last night. We love our listeners very much! This afternoon, us radio guys took a tour of the new park. Here are a few glimpses. One aspect that I learned on the tour...the big video board in RF hangs directly over right field!
On off days, when I check the time and see that it’s within a minute or two of the top of the hour, I think “let’s pause 10 seconds for station identification...” I know...I’m a nerd.

Connections.
@JakeEisenberg_
joins the Royals’ broadcasting crew this year after a couple of seasons with AAA Omaha. Welcome to MLB Jake! And, oh yeah, he a Terp!!
Earlier today at the Peaceful Keller BLM March. Enormous gathering. Peaceful, powerful. A vibe of determination.
These two photos were taken seven minutes apart along Bear Creek Park Road. The first the lead marchers, the second about midway back.

Super Sky Point to Keith Jackson. An American original, a true legend, and one of the most distinctive voices in broadcasting history. And, I can attest personally, a very nice man.
#RIP
99% of the time at the store I get the prehistoric Fred Flintstone cart, the one w/square wheels that sounds like the constant banging of pots & pans. Today, I pop in to get 3 items and pull the Ferrari cart that makes no sound. Had to shop for more stuff just to enjoy the cart.

The essence...the very essence of the game...is the battle between the pitcher and the batter, where the batter does everything in his power to EARN his way on base. That IS the game. Anything else, by definition, is NOT the game. This ain’t hard, people.
Extra Inning games will start with man on 2B. Before you give your negative opinion….I witnessed during WBC Classic and it was a huge success…..just sayin
Trip w/ wife to Costco to buy 2 items. Both are in the cart. Walking to checkout, she sees something
Wife: “Oh, we need these. Look, we’d save $8!”
Me: “We have plenty of those, we’d spend $18 to have more.”
Wife:
Me:
Wife: “WE CAN SAVE 8 DOLLARS!”
Result - we saved $8.
Just played full-court 5-on-5 for the first time in about five years. Some thoughts:
- Don’t go 5 years between FC 5-on-5s
- It’s hard to shoot when you’re hunched over, hands on knees
- Don’t say “I got next” when everyone on the court is at least 30 years younger than you 1/x
Great crowd on a gorgeous day here in Surprise. We’re in the 5th, Rangers lead the Mariners 7-5. We’re on
@1053thefan
and select Rangers Radio Network stations.
At a time like this, the frustration is understandable. But these Dallas Stars gave us entertaining and exciting hockey and plenty of reasons to be proud. Congratulations on a great run, and
#GoStars
The ride begins today. Come join us.
@JaredSandler
and I have the call for Rangers/Royals from Surprise. Game time 2 pm Central, we air at 8 pm Central on
@1053thefan
and select RRN stations.
I know at times I’m guilty of watching too much sports on TV...but curious how much continuous exposure (not watching, mind you) to the Hallmark Channel one can endure before spontaneous combustion becomes a very real concern.
#HelpMe
Sorry...was off the twitter for most of the day today, but thanks to all for the well wishes! And a huge congrats to my partner
@nadeler
on kicking off his 40th season in the booth with the Rangers. A stellar feat!!
I’m sure someone’s already noticed this but...it will be easy to remember the year the Rangers retired Adrian Beltre’s
#29
and Michael Young’s
#10
, since those two numbers, combined and rearranged, form 2019.
#Rangers
…hard to produce quality broadcasts all season long. Will try to respond to everyone. Nice to see so much love for this team! Let’s keep it going!! Again, thanks so much to all our listeners for all your support!! 2/2
What a privilege. Rangers at Cubs, the opener of a 3-game series at Wrigley Field gets underway in minutes. Our pregame coverage is on right now, on
@1053thefan
and the RRN!
We are at the ballpark! So glad to be back on the road, and thankful to everyone who made it happen. Rangers vs A’s, tonight at 8:00 pm Central, on
@1053thefan
and the Rangers Radio Network.
Wife commanding “Alexa” to play “Ring of Fire” by Johnny Cash and me yelling “Stop!” And her yelling “Play Again!” And it’s just a party at the casa tonight. 🙄
Absolute worst thing about this game? Eovaldi getting tagged with the loss. One of the most amazing individual post-season performances I’ve ever seen.
#WorldSeries
Thanks to
@JEFFatFoxSW
for this shot at The Silos.
#WinterCaravan
now on its way to McGregor and Jim Turner Chevrolet. We’ll be there from 4:30 until 6:00. Come say hello!
What a series! Congrats to both clubs for a fabulous series. And congrats to all my DC friends who have stuck with this club through so much. And especially my friends who grew up Senators’ fans. Enjoy this.
Man. Baseball.
Many thanks to NLBM President Bob Kendrick, a gifted story teller, for our guided tour today. An absolute must-see if you’re ever in Kansas City. A museum I would argue is more important and relevant today than at any time in our nation’s history.

Books and movies of the 70s for me. “The Autobiography of Malcolm X” & “Foul” (Connie Hawkins) were eye-opening reads. “Sounder” & “The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman” filled me with many emotions, as did the miniseries “Roots.” Reading and watching these moved me greatly.
