Dallas Morning News Rangers beat writer. Lover of food, travel, baseball, Gina, Bonnie & Austin and the kids (but I can't embarrass them here). Send me BBQ!
You want a stat: The Dodgers played 18 postseason games. Every one of them was started by a pitcher who has spent his entire professional career in the LA organization.
Adolis García just erased David Freese from the record books. And maybe vanquished all of the Rangers bad World Series juju. Rangers win, 6-5 in 11 innings.
Ian Kinsler will throw out the first pitch for Game 3 of ALCS on Wednesday. Derek Holland will catch it.
Michael Young will celebrate his 47th birthday Thursday by throwing out first pitch to Colby Lewis. In other news, damn Michael Young is getting old
Confirmed this story from Korea: Shin-Soo Choo is donating $1,000 to each of 190 minor leaguers in Rangers system. Amazing gesture by Choo, who has always talked of giving back to next generation like generation of players did for him.
Dear Rangers & Astros fans: This should be start of dream week for y'all & baseball in Texas. Hope you'll be loud & proud for your team, sportsmanlike to neighbors, gracious in victory, classy in defeat. Show MLB world how competitive & fun this rivalry can be. Now, play ball!
Been impossibly hard day for us. My mom passed after brief illness. We were with her & got to say goodbye. She was so proud of me & I am so proud to be her son. She will be with my dad now & though we miss her greatly, we know she is at peace. Her memory is forever a blessing
deGrom through tears: "This stinks. It's not ideal. But at least we know what it is now. I want to get it fixed and will set a goal to be back before the end of next year.:"
He will undergo surgery next week
Will say this: On the field post game after Bochy hugged and kissed his wife and saw me standing nearby. He looked over and said: “We can talk about the lineup tomorrow.”
Touché
Typical Beltre: When he was ready to talk to Daniels, he announced his intentions thusly:
"I've decided to play next year. Dodgers made me an offer. I'm going to play there."
Daniels was stumped.
Beltre: "Just kidding. I'm retiring."
Beltre breaks out laughing at retelling
If the Rangers reach the World Series, they would have home field advantage. They had a better record than AZ; they own tiebreaker over Philly for sweeping opening series. Literally the season-opening series could determine home field advantage
Marcus Semien has homered. It is 10-0. His first homer of the postseason. There is a "Let's Go Rangers" chant in the stands from the front office employees who were flown out here for Game 4.
Here is the thing on Travis Kelce
He seems to be quite good at football
He seems to love his family a lot
He seems to treat his GF with sweetness
And there are people whom this sets off?
Andrew Heaney has opted IN for his 2024 contract, per the Rangers. The Rangers are exercising their 2024 option on José Leclerc. Both are now under contract for 2024.
I wondered how loud this park could get with a fully-engaged, energized sellout crowd. It just set off
@KSherringtonDMN
Apple watch noise warning. It is beyond deafening in here.
Adolis García has just set the MLB record for most RBIs in a postseason series with 14. Nelson Cruz held the previous mark with 13 in the ALCS in 2013.
The Rangers popped bottles and quickly retired to dining room to watch final outs of Astros game. Several players were showered & dressed by time Houston game ended. Marcus Semien went to town on a Chick-Fil-A. Just inaccurate statement.
The Rangers partied last night while the Astros had a champagne toast and quickly turned their attention to Sunday and one more win. Houston's "been-there, done-that" mentality paid off, it seems.
The Elvis Andrus trade was a necessity for the Rangers. It does not change, however, that Andrus was as engaging a player as they've ever had; is candid, honest and approachable; and that he will always be a key part of what is, to this moment, the greatest era in Rangers history
I beg of you MLB & MLBPA, today is Father's Day & there is no day that more represents what this industry supposedly stands for. Reach out to one another again. Make a deal.
Why crap on the two teams that won a wild card series on the road, then started a DS on the road, then won 6-7 of the LCS on the road. They’ve balled out Nate. Sorry you don’t like the format.
This is the least compelling World Series matchup in a long time, maybe ever. MLB made a lot of great and overdue changes this season but it's time to contract the playoffs and give the regular season more meaning.
The Rangers win, 3-2. A 1-run game. On the road. Rookie hitters and a cobbled together pitching effort by the master manager of postseason play does the trick.
You know how I complain about this site all the time? Y’all have made me grateful. Thanks for so many kind words. But mostly I hope you are all still basking in the joy of a championship & I hope I’ll give you many more reasons to follow & read in the best future!

Really nice representation of former teammates for Beltré
Since Rangers built that extra day of rest in for the rotation by giving Cody Bradford a start on May 15 vs Atlanta ...
The rotation is 8-0 with a 1.76 ERA.
Have a nice evening
A breaking ball makes García buckle. Crowd cheers. Then he homers to right field on the next pitch and turns to Maldonado before getting into trot. Crowd is no longer cheering.
Do not ask me why I looked this up, but in his career, only one hitter faced Phil Niekro at least three times and batted a perfect 1.000.
Ron Freakin' Washington.
3-for-3 with a HR.
