London’s professional heating and plumbing solutions.Gas safe registered, Vaillant advance installer with over 22 years experience in the industry,14y in London
I just can’t believe I’ve been conned by this man😡🤬still remember calling him when he was very low emotionally and offering help from my side and my wife offered him free counselling sessions which he never accepted. It was all a BIG SCAM, beyond upset I have donated many times
@GarethSimkins
@metpoliceuk
Met police should look out for real criminals like the one who force me to pay nearly £500 a month to drive and work where I live only because I don’t want to get into debt and buy a new van and scrap a perfectly working van which I have paid in full. 🖕🏻
Mr Shaw… you horrible POS… you tried charging an old lady connected to oxygen tubes running around the house £6000 to repair her GW18si or £20000 for a new boiler. It’s now been fixed for £180 including all parts and labour, I hope you get hit by a bus you scumbag!
I was just trying to get an idea of what an apprentice expects as far as wage is concerned and it’s safe to say I will not be paying someone £30k a year to play with his phone all day and maybe learn a bit of plumbing, before I got to 30k I had to get my ACS qualifications…
You must love those customers where you made arrangements to go and sort their problem out, booking yourself in for a day, but they decide to cancel on a Sunday because someone else came last week to fix the issue and they couldn’t be bothered to tell you until the day before🤬
During a full strip and clean boiler service it is way more important to clean between the heat exchanger pipes rather than making them shiny only at the top with the flue and condensate ways blocked. Make your own tool for that with a thin putty knife cut down to size…
@MikeB2023
My worst month so far was October last year where I had few jobs in the congestion charge area together with ULEZ…
Supposedly the amount I paid back then is been used to clean London’s air, but I still drive my euro 5 not compliant diesel van
Trust your eyes and not the lies
One of my regular clients complained I’m not answering the phone to one of their mates who I worked for last year, when I presented him the bill last year he decided it was too much, I was too expensive and paid me less, and now complains I’m not answering. I wonder why is that🤣
That’s why is important to get a proper company to install your boiler. During a boiler replacement I don’t give customers a choice, the powerflush is included in the boiler replacement price, and that’s how the filter looks after 12 months of use, do it properly, lasts 4ever
Here we go… it’s Friday!!! Most of you know the feeling when this happens🤦🏻♂️🤬… again 8 years old Vaillant first time full strip and clean, first time someone pulls that plug out…new harness 45 quid plus vat…FFS
I have added a charge for consumables (£7) to an invoice where I supplied parts at cost! The job took 4 hours and the customer is questioning the £7 consumables charge,while I pay nearly £30 for a box of latex gloves, without mentioning paper roll, wipes, floor cover,PTFE, etc🤬
Not all gas safe engineers are the same THIS PASSED A CP12 few months ago… I thought a CP12 was a visual assessment of the gas installation and gas appliances
@GasSafeRegister
do you have any blind engineers on your register?
The easiest way to get the plate heat exchanger replaced on the WB greenstar combi… instead of taking out the entire hydraulic block undo the HW pipe and slide it out…job done
Anxiety and stress…there is nothing else which make me feel more anxious than 120 flats connected to the same supply without individual stopcocks…4th floor…fingers crossed the ice plug holds 🤞🏻 😅
It’s easy to quote for a new boiler but when the problem is simply a flame rectification issue, why not replace the flame rectification electrode instead of the entire boiler…
Glade I’m nearly done it was a very long weekend trying to get this in with a busy schedule this week, that’s why I’ll rather repair than replace… it takes too long to install boilers properly😅
My mate sent me this picture… after the plumber came to remove the waste disposal they are having sewerage smell backing up from the sink… I must say the plumber did a great job… at first sight the trap looks connected…😂🤣🤦🏻♂️
When I started as an apprentice nearly 20 years ago my boss used to supply each van with one of these, not really common in the UK, widely used in Europe, takes 5sec to solder a 15mm and about 10sec to solder a 22mm connection, no flames, what’s not to like.
@RothenbergerUk
Lovely, the meter index is not spinning (free gas for the customer) and the ESP doesn’t want to know about it they told me the customer needs to call their provider… of course they will…they’re getting gas for free, why wouldn’t they🤣🤦🏻♂️
Just had a customer who lowered his heating flow temperature to save energy as he read it somewhere. It turns out if the hot water is set to constant and you lower the heating to 55°C where the cylinder stat is set at 65°C the boiler will run 24/7… energy saving my arse…
12 years ago when I first did my ACS fireplaces were the biggest part on the book, nowadays they are barely mentioned, but it’s important to know that no fittings should be soldered under the fireplace as they could come apart with the heat, compression ok, end feed NOT
Sunday afternoon job, main heat exchanger replacement, Vaillant wasn’t willing to do it so after over 2 weeks without heating and hot water the customer has finally got a running boiler, got the customer to order the main HE, 3 hours later all up and running…
There is a reason why the section of pipe below the tundish MUST be at least 30cm the white push fit tee is just the cherry on the cake🤦🏻♂️😅that’s when you can tell the system is been installed by a qualified professional🤣
@Depheruk
oh my God 🤦🏻♂️ that was a ticking bomb… god knows how many others properties have been affected by the same builder a RIDDOR is a MUST in this case! Ffs
System flush is underrated during the boiler replacement. Once again the cheapest quote won and I’m here replacing the plate heat exchanger because they don’t have any hot water, what they saved going for the cheapest quote will cost them in parts and labour (system still dirty)
I need some help, can anyone please help to identify wether the fittings used on the gas (middle pipe) are for gas or water? I don’t use press fittings, many thanks in advance for your help.
One radiator out replaced by 2 smaller ones as per customer request.
There are only 2 tees and 2 street elbows soldered in total, all the rest is bent pipework, I had the monument master pipe benders for a while and they do save a lot of installation time.
Just got this message for an appointment I had later on this afternoon… do they think cancelling 4hours prior the appointment is ok? Tempted to text and say just get someone else as I don’t have time for time wasters… thoughts?
Finally I managed to get under the bath without breaking a single tile but as I dig deeper I now have to open the floor up as the elbows seem to be glued with silicone instead of solvent cement🤦🏻♂️why is it always me… it’s nearly 5pm on a Friday🤬
@DefenceHQPress
@BritishArmy
It makes me laugh how they weren’t able to keep a Twitter account safe but somehow the British public have to believe the Ministry of defence and army will keep them safe… go figure…
At least they were honest, it hasn’t been serviced in 15 years… installed in 2007… over the 15 years they didn’t service it they saved the equivalent of a new boiler… when are boiler services going to be mandatory every year like everywhere else outside the UK?
Found the solution for the constant harassment by the parking wardens where I can’t even eat a sandwich on a single yellow in
@RBKC
as they threaten you with fines even if I’m sitting inside the van. Issue the fine now…🖕🏻
Finally done, I couldn’t install it the the other day, but today is all finished and commissioned, so finally I get to finish at a decent time on Friday, have a good weekend everyone.
After I was called out this Sunday to unblock the drains I decided to come back to the same restaurant today and enjoy one of the most expensive plates I had the pleasure to try…white truffle tagliatelle… sometimes being a plumber is not that bad, this plate is nearly 1h work😅
Just removed the water isolation valve found on the gas pipe on this installation and replacing a long section of gas pipe with tracpipe due to the pipe being undersized. Straight couplings cost less than £0.50 why would people not use them? Especially on gas…
That’s what a failed pressure regulator will do, that’s the second one in the space of less than one month. Tightness test from appliance isolation valve onwards during a fireplace service revealed the problem.
A visual assessment of the flue is a must during a boiler service or landlord gas safety certificate, just replaced this one with a new part, the boiler was leaking every time it was on, it turns out it was the flue elbow and not the boiler itself, all fixed now.
So without naming the company directly someone is going to get a call from
@GasSafeRegister
for shutting off boilers capping off the gas supply and sending quotes for £10k for a replacement where the only issue is the heat exchanger leaking water, no warning notice, gas capped
This is like a dream coming true, I always wanted to install one but never had a chance😅so today was the day, installed the soakaway from mcalpine SOAK1GR… luckily it wasn’t raining so it was fun😂
And one more time where gas safety is a joke… even though the appliance is running at 13.5mbar and MI states 18mbar min the combustion is fine therefore is AT RISK and not ID. Even though MI states it shouldn’t be operated if at least 18mbar are not achievable, go figure
@AndrewGoldson1
Thank you so much for your help mate, I really appreciate your help I just checked with the camera around the fitting and as you mentioned they are marked for gas. Thanks!
Cleaning the flux after soldering is a must, how many are still old school and clean both the fitting and the pipe before assembling for soldering? Seems like cleaning the pipes and fittings before and after is going out of fashion… spot the difference
@JimATAG
It’s very important to ask questions when we don’t know things instead of riddoring and social platforms like Twitter can be of great help especially when the majority of people I follow are fellow plumbers and gas engineers,we never stop learning even after decades in the trade
I have bought so many tools over the years but if you want to know where I wasted my money and if you have anyone in particular you really hate tell them to buy the
@Nerrad_Tools
tapex kit… the most useless kit I ever bought in my life…
Landlord called yesterday to book an appointment for a cold tap in the kitchen where for 20 days tenant couldn’t get any cold out, booked for today. This morning at 9am got the below👇🏻called back to say I’m happy to cancel but to delete my phone number and never call me again😅
@fakeaccount1939
@fenwench
@MartinH63295825
Posting the same pictures over and over with different stories to extort donations, funnelling the money donated through his company, buying family members houses with those funds and being a convicted criminal working with vulnerable people doesn’t make any plumbers envy…
It’s always a pleasure when things go according to plans, managed to squeeze in the expansion vessel, low loss header and magnetic filter all within very limited space under the boiler.
I don’t know how you feel about this things but those tins must defy gravity, they are always sideways no matter how careful I am, I don’t think I ever ended up bringing any back to the van they always end up spilled on the customer floor🤦🏻♂️😅
Rerunning the gas supply because after it was installed in 2013 they decided to service it in 2022 and guess what, it’s been working on a 16mbar pressure since it was installed, if the boiler comes with a 22mm gas connection why not use a 22mm pipe, I guess 15mm is cheaper😅🤦🏻♂️
Good point👇🏻also quite important is explaining when we replace parts on a boiler which hasn’t been serviced, it doesn’t automatically get serviced because we last worked on it, many think a replacement of a part which went wrong equals to a boiler service, it doesn’t.
One of the most FAQs (according to the Gas Safe Register website) is "What is the difference between a Gas Safety Check and a service?"
It's amazing what we think customers know, but they don't! Always ask which they would like and explain the difference, help them to help you!
Just finishing up the new installation, if you think ahead you can make your life easier by installing 2 valves for flushing purposes on the flow and return😉
@SandhamPaul
Luckily I got called in by the neighbours who are my customers and are looking after her, that’s why I decided to publicly shame the scumbag, I doubt the police will do much but I’m quite sure the scumbag will get old at some stage and I hope he gets the same treatment one day.
I really respect Patrick Lancaster who’s been on the ground for 8 years independently reporting news. This war didn’t start the other day as they want you to believe this kids have been living in the basement all their lives…ask yourself why…
Compression fittings inside the wall and push fit pipe… a receipt for a disaster… hating whoever did this is an understatement… get the plumber to do the plumbing and the builder to do the building FFS or else problems are just awaiting behind the corner… it’s Friday FFS
It looks like at this property they were so “lucky” to have the same installer putting in both boilers... flue terminals sticking out about 40/50cm
@GasSafeRegister
Apparently G3 regulations don’t apply everywhere but at least they installed some “wooden” safety devices🤷🏻♂️also well done on the choice of using long flexy’s so if it does come off the wall it won’t impact the hot water… expansion vessel?!? What’s that?!?! Hose on PRV🤣😂🤦🏻♂️
RCD kept tripping, they called an electrician, he told them it was the boiler and left. Y plan, after 4hrs narrowed it down to a junction box at the back of the fridge feeding the boiler where some dust from previous drilling collected on the wires and got humid😯😅🤦🏻♂️
It just stopped working but there is a corgi guy who comes out and does the service, aren’t you bored of those CORGI guys ripping off elderly people, this was serviced recently by the “CORGI” guy…
FFS this hasn’t seen a service in 10 years at least.
