@serena_patriot Big money in politics. The wealthy are controlling the country for their own gain, not for the gain of the nation, people, economy and for world peace, climate change etc. It's not all politicians, but enough to make passing the "right" laws almost impossible at times.

Good evening all. It's not been the day I expected to have off. Got up, phone rang, hospital to say MIL fell and had been taken in. Went over with wife and not good news. She only has hours left, but that's a blessing really. Another infection, another stroke, it's not living 😢

@nathaliejacoby1 You only have to see what healthcare is like in other nations to know that free healthcare for all is a good thing. Here in the UK it costs nothing to see the doctor, to have surgery or an MRI scan etc. You can pay to go private like in the USA but if you can't afford, it's free.

Tomorrow will be my last day in the office before I drop down to part time. Instead of going to the pub, the boss decided to have an IT Dept Appreciation lunch and has catered food in, which is much nicer than the pub and a good opportunity for the whole team to enjoy.

Last week it was dark by 8pm, tonight it was dark before 7pm. Another couple of weeks and it will be dark even earlier and after they put the clocks back it will be dark by 5pm. Depressed yet? I know I am ☹️

My wife's daughter is on her way to the hospital to be induced, so I will hopefully be an honorary grandad again by morning. Wife has gone over to their house (just a block away) to look after their 4 year old so a cold bed for me tonight and probably waking to phone calls! 🤞

Well a really frustrating start to the evening. 6pm, doorbell rings, a speeding car had hit a neighbour's parked car, pushed it 3 houses along, smashed our wall and missed our car by literally less than an inch. Possibly stolen, they drove off with it smoking badly.

Sad news this afternoon with the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. She came to the throne the year before I was born. One of a kind, I don't think we will see another monarch like her. RIP Your Majesty.

Wife is getting emotional as tomorrow is the anniversary of her Mum's passing. She would have been 90 tomorrow and her twin will be "celebrating" hers with a husband who'se health is failing. It's horrible getting old 😢 Will be off to the crematorium to lay some flowers.

Happy Thursday. Woke up early, had my swim in the pool then we drove to the small beach at El Portet on the north side of Moraira. You have to get there early to park. It's a nice beach and good for snorkeling. These are just a sample of the 40 photos I took!

And MIL has passed peacefully. Her breathing slowed over the last hour and now she is at rest. I'm just waiting to hear if I have to go out and pick up my wife and her sister or if they want to take a taxi home. Her sister is staying over with us tonight.

Just had a 3 mile walk from the hotel to the Vatican and having a coffee while waiting for our tour. Walked past Spanish Steps, Pincho, Piaza di Popolo, across the Tiber and to the Vatican. Some great views along the way. Buskers playing music in the piazas, lovely day so far.

Found this poor bee on it's back on the patio just now. Turned it over, gave it some sugar water and put it on the grass. It's a really big bee about an inch long. Bit late in the year for bees isn't it? Wonder what kind it is?

Our 4 hour journey to Nottinghamshire took over 7 hours because of flooding. Got stuck for an hour on the A46 ten miles south of Newark because of a deep flood. Had to reverse up to the junction and make a detour. Pleased to be here and enjoying a G&T 🥛

For lunch we decided to go to The New Forest Inn which was on our way back from Christchurch. It's a bit expensive but the portions are huge and the food is really good. This Ploughman's lunch was amazing. I had loads of nice ham and cheddar cheese.

Just heard the baby 🤱is here, he was born about an hour ago. I don't know anything else other than baby and Mum are ok. Time for bed and hopefully I can sleep better tonight knowing that. No gym in the morning, got to take 4yr old grandson to school. Night all, sleep well.

This poor Amarylis sat at MIL's after we moved her in here and didn't get watered for months. I didn't want it to die, so I bought it here and it sat in it's pot in the garden all summer. Then it got totally waterlogged! Brought it in and in just a week it's sprouted this!
