we're all just waiting for this to go bad right, like I'm not rooting for it by any means but I'm following her because I know The Disaster is coming. there's no way she gets away with this

I worked in the service industry for years and now I'm a software engineer. People are mystified by what I do now but service work was 100x harder. Not to mention how much harder and more expensive every part of your life is when you don't have money and you hate your job.
@sorkincel
I think some millennials feel really bad they can't afford to have families and cope by pretending they hate children and just like dogs instead
@halomancer1
Like I said I'm not rooting for The Disaster, I'm just waiting on the edge of my seat for it. I know it's coming, we all have to know it's coming

Honestly $15 is not even enough. anybody that works full time deserves not just to survive but to live decently. They aren't serfs, you can't call them "essential" but not think they deserve a living wage.
@JakeAnbinder
why do you people think these protestors are trying to convert the people they're inconveniencing? because they aren't. they're trying to piss them off, and piss you off. do you think Rosa Parks was trying to convert the bus driver?
@DrilllKnight
@appalachianbeth
Also having to work through college vs. living on campus w/o a job for 2 years then being able to take on unpaid internships in the last two years. It felt so unfair and frustrating
@arvofart
there is nothing that people with privilege hate more than confronting the fact they're privileged and they're extremely sensitive about it. that's why every single wealthy white guy has a "rags to riches" myth he tells about himself regardless of how obviously untrue the myth is
@tractor_owner
i don't know if it's just an exaggerated meme or not but the TikToks teachers make about the dismal state of child literacy is genuinely terrifying.
libraries should be the size of entire cities and include things like housing, stores, cars, robots and also bazookas to blow up the enemies of the library
the pop science conception of dopamine as a "pleasure chemical" that's like a drug you can get addicted to, along with the inclusion of behavioral addiction in the DSM was a mistake. This is what it was always going to lead to - policing behavior that fundies don't like
Minnesota State Sen. Glenn Gruenhagen (R) speaks against sex education in schools, saying it produces dopamine in small children and therefore causes addiction.
"You're producing addiction to pornography, and some of those young boys will turn into human sexual predators."
I just lost my job and my girlfriend that I've been with for ten years and am having a mental breakdown and relapsed. gonna go live with my dad and might be MIA for a while.
removing engagement itself from a social media app is INSANE. why would anyone want to open this app ever again after this change lol. does Elon think he can trick people into looking at a timeline of pure ads eventually or something?
@cashonlyisland
subcultures and authenticity are dead, everything is a commodified aesthetic now. the concept of a "poser" is lost, everyone is just a different flavored poser

Humans lived in egalitarian hunter-gatherer tribes for ~300,000 years. Civilization has been around for ~6,000 and capitalism for ~300. "Human nature" is not immutable in the slightest and we've come so far technologically that "hard enough" is way less than you would think.
@halomancer1
lmao. my dad is like that. it took me a long time to realize that some people 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘶𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘭𝘺 do not find the truth valuable, and actually really aren't interested in knowing it at all. always the ones projecting about 'living in self-delusion" too.
@fuccboihermit2
@yesyyyr
that's literally what this is lol. I've said this before but it's like high school aged kids don't understand that adults aren't in different grades and the gap between a 28 year old and a 24 year old is orders of magnitude smaller than a junior and an 8th grader
