With confirmation that govt estimates it will pay €115 million a month to private hospitals for 2,600 beds (€44,000 per bed), question must be asked how come the NHS is only paying £72m for 8,000 beds (approx €10,000 / bed)? Why Irish govt paying four times the price per bed?

The government is about to give massive pay increases to the wealthiest 1% of public sector workers 4,000 people on over €150,000/year already are to get 10% or 15% more. Tens of millions of euros that won't be spent tackling the cost of living & housing crisis. Disgusting.

We should all continue to wear maks in crowded settings like bus, shops and schools. Many older or vulnerable people are still at risk, and they shouldn't be shut out of society. Many workers have no choice but to work in crowded settings. Wearing a mask is the least we can do.
