On her 1st day at school I left her feeling sick, I'd suppressed so much emotion tht morning. I was so proud, she had been through so much by this age. 2day is her last day at school, & we couldn't be prouder. She is full of love, compassion & fun & so much 2 offer this world 💕

#Leadership is about relationships- responsibility for self, care for others, creating emotional safety & walking alongside others in times of struggle. This is building trust. Strategy, processes, systems are required management functions. They don't inspire & influence change.

How do we move away from blame & shame? Practice self-compassion. Reduce judgement of others. Self-reflection, asking ourselves, what emotions are driving unkind behaviours? Take responsibility 4 our behaviours & make change. Know that we are worthy of love and belonging!

I think us adults in the lives of children & young people need to slow everything down. They hv lost routine, rituals, connection, & for some- confidence & sense of safety. This is a major transition period, not "back to normal". We need to regulate, observe, listen & adapt.

My children teach me that no matter how much I guide & influence them, by role modelling, hearing their feelings, creating space to talk, they will ultimately learn by doing. That will mean mistakes, pain, loss, & I can't stop it. Just accept it, & walk alongside them #NotEasy

Relationship-led medical care. Eye contact, the rhythm of his voice while singing, calmness in his body will help this little one relax. My girl used to scream her lungs out during multiple procedures/hospital stays. She was terrified. So was her mum. This buffers the distress 👇

This singing doctor was filmed calming down a baby during a blood test. 'My daughter is usually distraught at having her bloods done. I have never seen her have a reaction quite like this. Not a single tear! He put a smile on everyone's face' said mum Shannon. ♥️

It's #examresults day in #Scotland . I went 2 Uni after school, left in Yr 2 coz wanted 2 wrk. Worked hard! Learned lots! Now owner of @lullabynursery & director @TIGERS_UK . Had no idea at 18 this is what I would b doing with my life. My wrk is a joy. There are several pathways!

@DrJessTaylor Yes, as a 1sr time mum, I knew there was something wrong with my daughter. Kept being told she would grow out of it & maybe I was stressing the baby. I was humiliated, in shame & distressed. At 10mths she was diagnosed with a hiatus hernia(from birth) GERD & oesophageal strictire

I've seen this happen, repeatedly. When people are allowed, even encouraged, 2b their authentic-self, they feel valued and safe. They can move from flight or fight and access the relational and cognitive parts of the brain. Then the magic happens. #creativity #solutionfocused

My aunt died a week & half ago. Not #Covid19 but its her funeral 2day & only 10 members of the family can attend to celebrate her life. It's just very sad. Set up a group 4 my cousins 2 stay emotionally connected, share stories & pics at a time when we would hv been together ❤

In June, I went for a long-awaited hospital appointment after a referral from my GP in September 2021, for heavy menstrual bleeding, bloating & pelvic pain. I had a scan and biopsy. The results came back showing complex endometrial hyperplasia with atypia (pre-cancer). 1/9

#Alzheimers I'll never get used to watching my elegant, graceful, intelligent mum disintegrate with no voice, no mobility, no choice. My Dad's love gives her as much dignity as possible & an abundance of emotional safety. It's the only beauty I see in this despicable disease.

B4 the game @GarethSouthgate was using words such as togetherness & trust. At the end of the game & in defeat, he increased the sense of togetherness & trust by ensuring he hugged/supported/cared 4 every1 of his team, he let every1 know their value. It's #trulyhumanleadership

Bloody love technology! The guy next to me on the train back to Edinburgh from London is reading the Gruffolo to his kids via FaceTime. They apparently can’t go to sleep without him reading them a story! When he can’t FT he has prerecorded videos to send them of various stories.

Many offenders were victims long b4 they committed a criminal act. A compassionate justice system is not abt abdication of personal accountability, its abt addressing the source (trauma) tht many ppl in prison hv faced in life. It's healing & recovery, 2 reduce reoffending.

People will not talk freely if they are not continually provided with the space, compassion & acceptance to be themselves. It's not a 2 day "course", it's the creation of a culture tht values human emotions, & is not scared of them. It takes self-work, consistency & intention.

When there is so much anger & pain in the world it is easy 2 become overwhelmed with the magnitude of the collective problems we face. In these moments I now refer back to @JohnCarnochan "start where you are and do what you can". It helps me move out of overwhelm & feel useful.
