We published our first paper through SIDO last month on quantifying a player's performance in League of Legends using solo queue. This year, we're looking at validating our methods.
Here is a thread of what we've done so far 👇
Tomorrow is my last day at
@TSM
.
It's been an absolute privilege working alongside so many talented and hard-working people, and to contribute my part in TSM's growth over the past seven years.
Thank you for the incredible memories and friendships that I will cherish forever.
It's been a few days but I still haven't been able to gather the words to express how much of an honor it has been to work with
@Bjergsen
for the past 7 years. Of all the players I've had to say goodbye to, this one is the hardest. Will be rooting for you wherever you go.
I miss the days of League of Legends when new champion kits were like:
Passive: Every 5 ability casts stuns
Q: Does damage on person you click
W: Shields the ally you click
E: Does AOE damage in a cone
R: Summons a bear who slaps the enemy
Buy AP because everything has AP ratios.
With that win,
@EvilGeniuses
is the first LCS team to take a game off Faker in 6 years. Only other time in LCS history that's happened was CLG at 2016 MSI.
Goodbye my friend
@Biofrostlol
. I'm proud of your growth as a person and player since you joined TSM and am really excited to see how you shape your future. There's a lot of memories I'll cherish, but I hope you'll forgive me for sharing this :)
A few weeks ago
@currylol
messaged me "see you in the finals". Lot of respect to
@FlyQuest
and their players/staff for their insane year. Looking forward to representing NA at Worlds alongside them.
I don't understand how NA fans are flaming
@100Thieves
. They did most things right as a new organization and made it to Worlds in their first split. They were consistent the entire year and earned the honor to represent NA.
.
@BrokenBlade
with another lower bracket run in playoffs. If he wins tomorrow, he'll be the first player to win LCS and then LEC in that order -- which when you think about it is way more impressive.
Let me preface this by saying that I think LEC deserves the fourth spot over LCS.
HOWEVER, would be fun for there to be a Bo5 between the 4th best EU and NA team for that spot.
...so we get to see at least one Bo5 between the two regions this year.
Players -
1. It is not a done deal until you sign.
2. You can't sign until November 22 (FA Date).
Please don't trust verbal agreements and stop talking to other teams. I guarantee you, the team will keep every option open until signed.
It makes me so happy to see
@Spicalol
and
@BrokenBlade
thrive on their respective teams.
If I had one wish for this year, it would be for them to face each other at MSI or Worlds.
A rookie that stares boldly in the face of one of one of the best teams and players in the world and declares that he's going to stomp them and believes that he has the ability to do it is what makes sports so great. Thoughts about
@jojopyunlol
and those like him. Thread 👇
Regarding
@100Thieves
LCS, this it the first time in seven years that an organization has fielded the same starting roster for 3 splits in a row.
Only other time in LCS history that has happened was the original
@Cloud9
roster who stayed together from Summer '13-Spring '15.
It's actually crazy how underrated the
@Biofrostlol
pickup was this off season. Quick reminder again that he's won more LCS titles than any support in LCS history -- as recently as Summer 2020.
I'm so jealous that
#LEC
has this playoff format. Other than the awful font on the broadcast, Europe has killed it this year in every aspect. NA has a lot of catching up to do.
Day 7: This is the first split since the start of LCS that
@WildTurtle
isn't starting. He is one of the most underrated players in LCS history --
4x LCS Champion
10x LCS Finals Appearances (on 3 different teams)
5x Worlds Representative
Sorry for a disappointing end, we were simply outclassed this year.
Thank you to all the fans who sent us kind words, especially the ones after our first GGS series. It meant so much more than you know. We will come back stronger next year.
Saw the TSM LCS news yesterday and felt nothing. It's a business decision as many have been for many years.
The team that people fell in love with, feared, respected, and hated - one that embodied a relatable human spirit has slowly been chipped away until only the name is left.
The way
@Caedrel
explains the game both makes each moment tense and helps you empathize with what each team could be thinking in the game, even if there are mistakes. It's a real masterclass.
It's almost 2018, people need to stop judging rosters based solely on the mechanical strength of the individual players. There's more than enough precedence to argue for other factors being equally, if not more important.
"RUMOUR: So there was a rumor that Vitality wants to sign
@Caedrel
because Perkz wants Caedrel, so they will give Caedrel one playoff game (3 series total), and if they fail to get then do a streaming deal for Caedrel"
I hope people take this opportunity to celebrate Supermassive's grit rather than tear apart a team of four rookies playing on the international stage for the first time.
I want to thank
@Cloud9
for this chance to join the team again.
@JackEtienne
was also gracious enough to give me permission for any team to reach out to me anytime about opportunities to play in LCS. Happy to be back and I'll do my best!
You're allowed to dislike someone but agree with their ideas/beliefs and vice versa. Sometimes I feel like internet doesn't understand this distinction.
The most underrated quality about
@Bjergsen
throughout his career is how often he will just blind his champion. It's the ultimate disrespect move and gives his teammates all the opportunity to counter pick.
If you consider all available information as of today,
@G2esports
are currently the favorites to win the League of Legends World Championships this year.
Spica is one of the best players I've ever worked with and it's been awful to see the community try to diminish his past accomplishments and vilify him without concrete information about this situation.
the narrative has gotten out of hand. No one on the team was against shenyi shotcalling, in fact when he first told us (after 0-4) we all agreed. No player played a part in deciding his benching and it was not anything gameplay related. I wish my only job is to jungle
Congrats to
@Caedrel
and
@AshleyKang
, two people who have had an immense impact by making the game and players they cover incredibly accessible to people all around the world. I've watched more LEC and LCK because of them and I know a lot of people share that sentiment.
On one hand, I want to see
@TLCoreJJ
back to see how insane this TL team can be, but I also want to see
@SupportEyla
in LCS who 100% deserves to play at this level.
Our season ends today. We fought hard this year, please send love to our players and staff. Congrats to
@Cloud9
@TeamLiquid
and
@100Thieves
-- all strong competitors that were simply better.
Proud of all players on
@TSM
Academy for all their hard work this split and a well-deserved Academy MSI win! Special shout-out to
@peterzhanglol
's vision and passion for his craft -- a good coach is even more important for developing new players and we have one of the best.
People who see the first game as TSM vs. TL is missing the bigger picture. During the first week TSM plays against Flame, Xmithie, Pobelter, Olleh, Anda, and Stunt. Riot is secretly recreating TSM vs. IMT
The biggest mistake the
@LCSOfficial
made in the post-franchise era is not bringing on and giving passionate and creative people like
@OvileeMay
the resources and freedom to run the show.
This is what the
@LEC
got right and the difference is staggering.
My one wish for competitive League of Legends is to establish a meaningful tournament between NA and EU
Ex: Western Cup/ Western Worlds Play-In/whatever.
Shorten summer season, have regional playoffs early.
Dump all the best NA and EU teams into one spot with stakes and go.
