The thing that kills me about so much Krakoan discourse is not that critiques of Krakoa exist, its how much nuance gets removed while claiming to do the opposite. Its not that mutants did nothing wrong its how many ppl want SO BADLY to be able to just make mutants the bad guys.

#xSpoilers mirrored in our awareness that all the things FoX is costing mutantdom are things that they've had at most for about three MAYBE four years & so in reality all the books are reinforcing is how brief the Krakoan era actually was. If they wanted the stakes of FoX to

Storm and Bobby have 'our biggest Kryptonite is our branding' solidarity. Both of them have powersets that are FAR more expansive than just weather manipulation or making ice, but b/c they're so definitively branded via their very names, you constantly end up with scenes where

#xSpoilers really resonate and feel like this epic devastation that is undoing a SIZABLE amount of not just progress but time spent SITTING w/that progress & reaping the benefits of it....they needed to let the Krakoan era last longer. There's no shortcut there.

Arakkii: we have literally NO idea what to do w/your weird & inexplicable takes on sexuality, gender roles & other BS. Have we mentioned Genesis & Isca, who absolutely can & will kill you & everyone you've ever met, no contest? No for real, pick a fight w/them. See what happens.

In the spirit of technopathy being used in clever ways, what are peoples' favorite powersets when it comes to powers being used in clever or unexpected ways?

@EmmaTalksComics Piotr by a landslide. I may not be happy about how they used Bobby & think he mostly got lip service most of the era, but Piotr didn't even get that much. None of his stories were even about him. Kurt & Gambit at least are I think getting some good characterization at last in

100% my biggest reason I refuse to accept the Krakoan era is over for good is cuz I will not live in a timeline where the sheer wealth of creativity & potential inherent in everything they introduced is wasted on just this handful of writers who barely wanted to explore ANY of it

Sometimes ppl not liking a story you loved isn't because they didn't get it or missed the point, they just....dont like the same things you do. Stop being so damn quick to condescend to ppl just b/c their tastes don't validate yours, jfc.

who quite literally had a slave caste at one point, but no, you're gonna choose the ppl with the biggest in-universe history of oppression and make them your cautionary tale about unchecked aggression and expansion? And you're going to do all that while having no personal

"mutants always lose, the Founders started Krakoa with the expectation it would fail & merely the hope that could be proven untrue" - it was Marvel that broke with EXTREMELY basic, fundamental storytelling expectations....and that is going to have very, VERY long-lasting

this claim bc uh no. This actually aint on us. The REASON so many fans were still hopeful for another outcome is bc we have a basic understanding of how narratives work, especially hero narratives. We bought into the implicit contract formed when the story began with the take

Taken in conjunction w/how ppl were drawn to the Krakoan era bc initially it felt like something new, a departure from the usual doom & gloomfor mutants, the welcome back to the real world stuff has this air of....'u were kidding urselves thinking things could ever be different.'

down, then hahahahaha, fuck no, I don't think that using the famous marginalization allegory with a history of in-universe oppression and being subjected to endless attempted genocides are the right subject matter/community to use for your critique on nationalism, expansionism &

scope, scale and novelty of the Krakoan Experiment was the explicit draw DESIGNED to lure in readers who had no interest or had fallen off of reading the years of doom and gloom that preceded it. The literal premise of the Krakoan era was "and now....for something different."
