There is no place on our roads for people who jeopardize the safety of others, regardless of their beliefs.
Starting tomorrow, TLC drivers will be paid $53 per route, rather than hourly— $40 base pay + $13 for expenses. Drivers can use personal cars + do multiple routes. This change will help drivers make more money. Sign up at . DM us if any questions.
“Through trip data, we determined that 96% of the approximately 80,000 app drivers make less than the equivalent of the minimum wage,” said Commissioner Joshi. “NYC made history by becoming the first city to enact pay protection for this large group of professional drivers.”
Today, we honor the memory of all who perished on 9/11, including uniformed rescue workers who gave the supreme sacrifice to save others 20 years ago. We are also incredibly grateful to all TLC-Licensed Drivers who heroically served the public by transporting many to safety.

Congratulations to Ruixuan Zhang from Flushing, the first driver to receive one of the 600 EV licenses issued last Wednesday! Commissioner David Do witnessed Ruixuan’s first TLC inspection at Woodside this morning. Ruixuan is already out there doing trips!
Have you heard about the new Taxi Clubhouse? This space is JUST for TLC licensed drivers and is a space where you can use the bathroom, have a meal, relax, exercise, or pray FOR FREE. Located at 161 W. 22nd Street in Chelsea, Manhattan.
Attention to drivers - please check tomorrow for an email from the TLC with details on an opportunity to earn extra income and help support the City during this health crisis. Thank you!
As of 11/8, we received 1,746 applications for EV licenses. 1,645 applications (more than 90%) are individuals with a TLC driver license. 101 are corporations.
It’s a shame that NYTWA leadership would try to derail progress that puts money into individual drivers’ pockets.

For-hire vehicles grew from 40k in 2010 to to 120k in NYC today. Emissions from TLC-licensed vehicles increased by 62% from 2013-2018 -- largely from the rise in app cars. Limiting the number of FHVs and empty cruising will improve bus speeds and decrease pollution.

Left turns are more dangerous for pedestrians than right turns. 5 MPH is a safe speed to turn. Always look for pedestrians and cyclists and avoid narrow turns.
