Ave Maria University is still looking to add players for this coming year. Opportunity to join a new and hungry coaching staff placing emphasis on player development. Player development is a continuous cycle:
Assess➡️Train➡️Reassess
Loved every minute coaching alongside big bro. Been together in some capacity the past 8 years. From playing together at EIU, living with me during Spring Training, working together at Driveline, to building up the program at AMU … Been a blast!
Well deserved and let’s goooo!🔥
Ave Maria University (FL) is looking for games this weekend (Feb 9-11th). Willing to travel and join someone as a 3rd team.

Tito Francona on trusting players:
1️⃣ “I want to trust the players.” - trust comes with risk. This intent matters.
2️⃣ Clear communication is crucial; “You haven’t taught until they’ve learned.”
3️⃣ Trusting players ➡️ freedom, fun, and better performance

The last couple years we’ve had portable
@TrackManBB
but today we are excited for the addition of stadium Trackman. This tool will be huge for getting in game data and continue to push player development, scouting, and have data available for
professional scouts here at Ave Maria
(1/5) Creating games/competitions within the training environment is huge IMO. They are a great way to get athletes fully engaged and help them get acclimated with being in pressure situations. Here's a perfect example from a
@LincolnTrailBSB
practice last week.
Imo so many players struggle with finding flush contact to the pull side. Snap hooks down the line aren’t tight like 400 foot bombs. Love to add in hitting plyos here for the immediate contact quality feedback. Fire tweet by my guy 🔥
One of my favorite drills to do with young hitters that struggle pulling the ball in the air.
Offset closed ➕ Long Bat. This will help with:
✅ Proper Sequencing
✅ Proper Torso Rotation
✅ Better pull-side ball flight
To add to this, had a convo with a player today. Idk how you watch big leaguers throw and think you’re going to consistently find prefect contact. Good luck lol. Much better off finding ways to optimize your miss imo.

All this to say: Perfect contact is nearly impossible and wholly unreliable.
Improving contact quality is more about improving outcomes when we miss than chasing perfect collision.
Some need bat speed, some a better bat path, but ultimately, better misses is the goal.
Forgot to mention, our conference sent 4 teams to a regional and 2 to the World Series this past year. Very good baseball down here in the Sunshine State.
(5/5) How'd it all turn out? Guys were locked in, had fun, competed, baseballs were hammered, and PRs were hit. This was the final swing of the day from one of the winners (also a PR 🔥🔥). Coaching the environment is a lot of fun.

Joey brings up a good point here. Bat speed alone will not make you a great hitter, and how you train bat speed matters a lot.
I know. I know. Try to contain your astonishment.
However, there are a few things I would like to point out 👇
Outstanding Effort by our group
Fall 2020 gpa was 3.44.
85% of the roster above a 3.0.
11 players with a 4.0.
Getting it done on the field and the classroom.
