Why MLB hitters live in the 4-12° AA range: #AAthread Most pitches at the college & professional level come in with a vertical approach angle of -4 to -8°. Hitters with avg AA's within that range will likely provide more room for error to make flush contact or just make contact

Lars has turned himself into one of the faster swingers in the @MLB with 61 grade Bat Speed during the 2022 season. He continues to build off that for the 2023 season, paired with great contact skills. He’s now above league average in all 3 categories of our Big 3!

Love Angled Machine. Angled flips, BP, machine and offset drills are a staple for majority of hitters I work with. But always be aware of stride direction. A hitter will naturally want to stride towards the feeder. Stride direction should stay to the game mound and here's why: 🔽

Now that the 2023 MLB regular season has come to a close, @DrivelineBB we can recap the value we potentially provided our hitters. We look at Surplus Value, how they did above or below projection/expectation. Looking at WAR and the value of that on the free agent market.

My opinion is, if a coach can't translate it to a player, then they are an analyst. The ability to connect/communicate is king. All other aspects just make a coach better and better. But it starts with being able to connect and translate information.

Mass AND Speed matter. That's why at Driveline we use Rotational Kinetic Energy or RKE's to look at how much force a hitter is producing in his swing. And we can look at this by segment to see where there is a disconnect. RKE's adjust for height and weight!

Driveline Hitting was founded by @JasonOchart on these principles Goals/Mission posted at the creation of the Department on Sept 23, 2016, after he was hired by @drivelinebases Pretty fulfilling to be here 5ish yrs later, having crushed that and now pushing hitting forward📈

Pretty proud of the systems we have in place @DrivelineBB to obtain these kind of results for hitters from across the world. Training 4 NPB Hitters while in-season these were the results: All training and consulting was done through zoom, slack, & Traq #AAThread

Great things to know and please use them together For example, don't implement bullet #2 without understanding #7 . If you swing up at 20-25° you won't be on plane with a fastball at -6 @DrivelineBB we have some of the fastest swingers in the world & don't recommend that AA

The Big 3 is not about hitting homeruns or one source of production. It's a system to train on field results A great example is @andy_schmitty No HR's this year but: OPS: .995 SLG: .537 OB%: .458 AVG: .400 Leading D3 Nation in Hits

Our online hitting program is always at our athlete's fingertips. Here's a video showing many of it's features from an athlete's perspective on their phone. TRAQ makes it easy and convenient no matter where you are!

So, hey. Something fun. Earlier this year, Statcast began a limited-so-far rollout of actual, in-game bat tracking - speeds, angles, impact points, etc. It's not a full set, but what's there is fascinating, and here's some of the earliest takeaways: --->

This is why we train the "Big 3". The majority of our decisions impact a combo of these 3 skills, as we know they are tied to on-field performance. ➡️Bat Speed ➡️Bat to Ball Skills ➡️Swing Decisions Proven year after year @DrivelineBB , more on this in the next few days!

There is a lot of overlap in mechanics that benefit B2B skills and Bat Speed Overnight fixes don't get these results. This is a very dedicated hitter working both hard and smart! As @drivelinebases says, ppl overestimate short term results and underestimate long term results

Most players overestimate short term training results and underestimate consistent long term training results. If you haven't, take the time to read this blog by @Joney93 Lars is a great example of what's possible with consistent long term training & a good process!

The golden standard for measuring a hitter's luck is Batting Average on Balls in Play or BABIP. The league avg is right around .300. Ozuna's BABIP: -Last Season- .257! -His Career- .314 (including 2019) Wouldn't be surprised to watch Ozuna have a big year with the Braves!
