“It's really hard to hit 95. It's way
harder to hit it when you're thinking about where your legs or hands are. Then your focus isn't on the ball. So, when I struggle, it's most often because I'm thinking about my swing instead of just trusting my preparation.” Bo Bichette
“Anybody can hit homers in BP. Especially to the pull side. Line drives turn into home runs in the game. You might have a boring BP but your stats aren’t boring.” Freddie Freeman

“I never focus on lifting the ball. I think about taking a nice level swing & backspining the ball. What people are doing now is thinking about lifting the ball & getting the ball in the air. I’m not saying that’s wrong, but there’s a proper way to do it.” Nolan Arenado
“Walk up to the plate knowing you’re not gonna get out. If you have any doubt whether you’re going to have a bad swing or going to get out, you’re going to get out. This game will put you down quick. You have to pump positive thoughts in your head. Baseballs hard.” Mike Trout
“I think left center. If I think center, or pull, I get too rotational and spinny. So for me, left-center is a good cue. I want to be as north-south as possible with my direction, I don’t want to rotate and get east-west. I want everything going towards the pitcher.” Gavin Lux

"I was a good player growing up. But I wasn't a 1st rounder, I have to do the little things or I'm not going to have a job. Or I'm not getting to the big leagues. Even in the big leagues, I just can't get away with showing up & doing what everyone else is doing." Paul Goldschmidt

“I’m always sitting fastball. For me if I sit off speed and they throw me a fastball I’m done. So I like to sit fast ball and react to the off speed.” Mike Trout

“0-0 is a hitters count. 0-0 is considered a head in the count. You should be ready to hit. If you think about it from the pitchers perspective they want to get ahead.” Evan Longoria

"If you came to a random B.P.this spring & you saw that half of our balls weren't leaving the infield, you would say, 'Wow, this team is not very good’ but that's just part of the concept where we make things difficult in practice so the game is easier." Adley Rutschman

“I’m a big believer you don’t wanna give up strike one because that’s a pivotal pitch. The pitchers mentality is to get ahead and mine is to not let them. If they’re going to be aggressive early I need to match that.” Lance Berkman
“I approach middle of the field. I react outside & I react inside. As long as I don’t over stride & my top half is not leaning over I’m able to bring my hands in, stay behind the ball & use both sides of the field.” Edgar Martinez
"I was in the cage 5 days a week for 3 months, retooling, restructuring it, making sure it was repeatable & sustainable through 162 game season. It's a lot of work, a lot of time, 3-4 hours a day in the cage trying to find something that worked for me." Justin Turner
“I hit every ball in BP today to the left side of the infield. I’ve never done that before in my life. Usually I try to lift. I’m pulling off everything. Usually in BP I just try to lift, have fun in BP. Today I tried to make an adjustment.” Cody Bellinger
“The beginning of the AB I’m thinking about something I can hammer through the gaps. As the AB ticks down, the more against the wall my back gets I try to do less. When I get to two strikes I’m just trying to put the ball in play hard, try to not strikeout.” Joey Votto
“We worked mostly bat path drills to keep me in the zone longer cuz in ‘19 I grounded out to the right side a lot. My path & swing got to rotational & I was sweeping across the zone instead of staying thru the middle of the field for a longer period of time.” Brandon Crawford

“I prided myself on being prepared. The thing that makes me most uncomfortable in life is being unprepared. You hear athletes talk about the game slowing down, I think it slows down when you’re prepared.” Derek Jeter
