"They're practically using the law before it's even passed." I highly recommend you take almost 10 mins from your evening to digest this analysis of the Government's #waronnature via the Fast Track Bill. It's anti democratic and anti environment & def "taking the p*ss."

Omg. The "what's your plan for the economy if we get rid of mining?" trolling is so 🥱. How about 1. no mining on PUBLIC conservation land where private industry profits from wrecking the nature; 2. Especially where some of the world's most threatened species live; 1/n

I worry that across the political spectrum in the lead up to a General Election, the sense of responsibility to the public to inform them of the significant dangers facing our communities, has been shrugged away. Leadership means gripping up the hard stuff. Crack on please.

Dear @FlyAirNZ , I'm 35 mins into being on hold for my one question and that's fine, but what would be even better would be a hold system that told me how many minutes away until the call will be answered or a call back function, which many other companies have... 🤔

We got less than 48 hrs notice to front at Select Committee on the Government's Fast-Track bill. We are clear on what we are advocating for so that wasn't an issue for @Forest_and_Bird . However I'm conscious not everyone had the chance. Watch: 46 mins in.

Nearly 15% of NZ’s 2018 net greenhouse gas emissions per year — 8.4M tonnes of CO2 — could be locked into native ecosystem carbon sinks if we controlled feral browsing animals to the lowest possible levels

This. I talk about shifting baselines a lot in my public talks. The cartoon sums it up beautifully & is something to be so mindful of. However, in places like Welli, I see the baseline shifting back up, as people accept that abundance of wildlife is their baseline tks @ZEALANDIA

'Shifting baseline syndrome' explains how extreme ecological depletion is normalised in human society, each generation accepting ever less nature as perfectly fine. The concept is equally valid on land as at sea. 🌍
