The black history of Miami, Florida.
A THREAD!
Bahamians were among the first settlers in Miami. The first name on the city charter in 1896, when the city was incorporated, was a Black man named Silas Austin. Out of 368 men who voted to incorporate Miami,162 of them were Black.
If you’re a book person, read “Medical Apartheid”, the book details and documents ALOT of the medical experimentations that were done on black people…dating back to colonial times!
American medicine has been built upon the abuse of black people with no oversight.
I'll revisit a few cases of how Black people were abused in the field of medicine.

THREAD(s)!
Sad to say, but a lot of our culture and norms are rooted in slavery….and they expect us to just “get over it”. We literally have no choice but to see remnants of it EVERYDAY
HAD TO SHARE THIS!
Escaping slaves use to throw balls of fried corn meal out to distract the hounds from tracking them. The hounds stopped barking and tracking thanks to the corn meal which later adapted the name “hush puppies”

For our black history month celebration at work, I’m Sharing the history of how black people have to celebrate white slave owner names at family reunions because our ancestors were stripped of their names and culture. They gone learn today lol

I think Its the more you know the better, he could be a genuine dude! Or he could be a goofy, and this whole time you’re crushing on a goofy because you didn’t get more information 😂
I been the caregiver for my mom while she recover and I’m SCRUGGLING lol can’t even fathom having to do this for 18+ years from infant to adult 🥴. Salute to all the mothers! ✊🏾
The older I get the more I appreciate people who can effectively communicate. Sometimes you have to leave your emotions at the door to effectively communicate them
Last night, this kid who come in the gym all the time in slides asked for a pair of my fav hooping shoes. He was like “you foreal?” When I gave them to him. Then he put them on and was wearing them like they were brand new lol I love moments like that 💯✊🏾
I’m institutionalized….my body wakes up at the same time every morning like I have to go to work. No matter what time I go to bed. Ain’t no sleeping in 😒
Its crazy that last year around this time I was back and forth to the hospital, running off like 3hrs of sleep everyday, eating trash, fatigued mentally and physically. A lot can happen in a year dawg! 🙏🏾✊🏾
If you think a man should pay all the bills, date someone that agrees. If you think it should be 50/50, date someone that agrees. The problem is y'all wanna convince people who don’t agree instead of just dating someone who has the same values, that’s why the topic is so annoying
This dope! I’ve been wanting to shoot a Black North Carolina documentary for a while, on the 252 specifically. Its wild how there’s so many different facets of the 252, yet we all relate and connect. There’s a story in there worth telling
1. The aesthetics of marriage has made it more romanticized…
2. Cats are not pets, they belong in the wild.
3. How they caught the bodies is more revealing than their actual body count
4. The Educator profession should be just as prestigious and revered as doctors and lawyers
