All right. Here’s my top ten diss tracks, in no order, that were made by L.A. rappers (South Central, Compton, Inglewood, and Long Beach).
What’s your Top 3 picks?
Sad news for Fetty Wap, looks like he could be going to prison for 5-40 years after being caught with over 500 grams of cocaine. Keep him in your prayers 🙏
I just think it’s insane that so many Black schools in the hood had metal detectors, but none of them EVER had a mass shooting before or after they implemented them
In HS, I wrote a paper about how Rap/R&B inspired us to do better. I said “Black unemployment dropped after ‘No scrubs’ was released, because men were motivated to get jobs.” I ain’t use a single legit resource
Wait. Wait.
Those are actually new episodes they’re showing??? So MTV is showing actual new episodes of just one show, over and over and over and over, and over again? I’m even more confused now.
The writers of MTV’s Ridiculousness are striking. This show runs over 300 (I believe) episodes a year. Ain’t no reason they should even have to do this.
Lmao my dad is absolutely appalled that folks spend $600+ for a table and one bottle at the club. Me n my cousins are telling him how the club scene is, and he’s disgusted lol
Kaytranada is damn near a subgenre. Folks will describe the music at an event, or promoters will ask you to play “Kaytranada vibes” and I automatically know what they mean
Everybody saying “she was only one when it came out,” but my thing is, the hook is the exact same words, so. Either she heard it for sure, or a producer/ghost writer wrote it for her.
DJd a Wedding this weekend, and was playing “Blow the whistle.”
16 year old girl: Can you play the original version?
Me: ….the…..which one?

I just got the clean version of Beyoncé’s album, and it’s not just the usual blanked out cuss words…she sings them over like artists used to. So it’s “we gon roll up tonight” on “Cuff it” instead of “we gon fuck up the night.”
It makes a HUGE difference for clean events/radio.
Came home after 2AM and caught her in the sheets in my home. She tried to explain before I pointed my cane at her. The dude said my name, and I was like, son how you know my name? He looked real familiar, too. She kept talkin until I told her to shut up. I almost caught a case
Live recordings are an art. Sometimes, artists change a song for live performance but lose something that you loved in the original. But sometimes the elevate it and improve on it.
For Day 6 of the
#BlackMusicMonthChallenge
, share a favorite live version of a song.
I don’t think folks realize how much of a 180 it is for Snoop to be seen as the most universally beloved rapper in the world. He was a whole different monster with Death Row
Kendrick Lamar's "The Big Steppers Tour” becomes the highest grossing tour by a rapper as a headlining act in history grossing $110.9 million from 929,000 tickets sold in 73 shows.
This week, I went to three different schools in the L.A. area to teach about the History of Black Music. One of them was Amestoy Elementary, about five minutes from where I grew up. The kids had all the energy! They knew Billie Jean like it just came out yesterday:
These prices.
Every time somebody mentions their favorite concerts in previous decades, they tell me they got tickets for $10-$20. No way folks should be paying $300 for MF nosebleed seats that folks clown them on here for taking pics from
Perfect response. Bc I hate the youthful arrogance that Kai and even folks on Twitter had when he won. It’s always a “who is he??” “Nobody ever said put on that Killer Mike” and NEVER once was it “I listened to his album and it sucked”
Facts. The reason that there’s a huge disparity between Black people is because we won’t invest in the acorn app….mot because of generational wealth or anything historical
