Filmed this from the bus just under an hour ago. #Croydon is feeling a bit apocalyptic today. Closest I can describe it to is the afternoon just before the 2010 riots, when we felt something pivotal was about to happen. I think the community has just had enough.

THREAD: Today, we've, @EduPolicyInst , published and important thread on disadvantage gaps in England. We've analysed the teacher assessed grades awarded to GCSE and 16-19 pupils in 2020 and looked at how that has affected the gap (more on TAGs in a moment).

Two powerful points of consensus coming from our #disadvantagegap event: 1. Schools can't fix this alone. Wider public services, housing & causes of poverty need to be addressed. 2. Better investment needed in the early years to improve quality and access for disadvantaged pupils

In using the term "gender identity diversity blah blah", DC alienates a large swathe of people who genuinely care about being in an inclusive workplace. Describing the rights of women, trans gender people, people of colour as "blah blah" isn't whimsical, it's offensive.
