15 out of 19 hijackers of the 9/11 attacks were Saudi citizens. And yesterday Saudi Arabia got UK electronic visa waiver status. The decision makes the narrative of denying visas on security and human rights grounds a joke. If you are rich, you are welcome everywhere.

@dhume In the short term, I don't see an "India out" campaign in Bangladesh because the pro-Indian ruling party successfully eliminated most anti-Indian politicians. In the long run, India has risks. The youths are exceptionally anti-Indian.

@HappymonJacob @MEAIndia Since 9 million Indians work in the Gulf countries, India had to change its initial position in the Israel-Palestine war. The economy always drives politics. I think Saudi's firm position in the Palestine cause influenced PM Modi's shifting policies.

You don't hear about the 13 Thai workers taken hostage by Hamas and released with other Israeli citizens. Israeli officials also didn't mention them as if they were nonexistent. There is a grave dehumanization of how overseas workers are treated in the Middle East.

@TapashishC @HindolSengupta We have similar stories. Muslims in West Bengal had to migrate to the East, facing persecution. I am not denying there was persecution on both sides of the border. When we try to term this "ethnic cleansing," it creates problems. 1947 Partition is unique and needs objective take.

@manniefabian One issue with the IDF's videos of the war is that they do not display the targets (Hamas fighters) that they are attacking. This is in stark contrast to the war footage released by Hamas militants. The IDF is not performing well in the information war aspect of this conflict.

@DerekJGrossman The incumbent Bangladesh government can do anything to win Indian support, even if they are against national interests, because it relies on Indian backing to be in office. Most Bangladeshi people would not take India's side in a Canada-India tension.

@AkhtarM1956 We have undoubtedly made many achievements in 52 years. However, when highly regarded members of civil society become apologists for authoritarianism, it indicates a significant flaw in the society. During the Pakistan era, we did not have such a spineless civil society.

@MAarafat71 Comparing this with Dhaka's regular waterlogging might not be appropriate. In Dhaka, it has become an everyday affair during the rainy season. Blaming climate change is also unsuitable for Dhaka because we don't experience unusual rain.
