What is happening in Canada, had it happened in the ‘developing world’, would have seen a very, very different tone and tenor of ‘coverage’. That’s why we need to remind ourselves everyday that colonialism is a psychological condition and not a historical time period alone.

Why has the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose statue in the heart of Delhi sent so many scurrying for cover? Is it because it will give a mighty kick to the much propagated idea that ONLY Gandhian non-violence brought down the Raj? Finally the revolutionary history of India is emerging.

This is such bullshit logic. This is why journalists need basic education in economics. The use of 22 lakh diyas made of clay would have economically empowered lakhs of households and would have had great downstream impact - such festivity is a win-win for the local economy.

22 lakh dias were lit in Ayodhya on Deepotsav. If 10 ml (conservative estimate) of oil was used in each diya, 22,000 litres was used in day. A poor family of four can use litre of it for at least 15 days for food preparation. But everyone loves an extravaganza.

In the NYT list of 'Population Control, Marauder Style' Aurangzeb is listed at No. 23, responsible for the death of 4.6 mln, well below Ghengis Khan and Mao (40 mln each) but more than the Crusades (3 mln) and the American Civil War (0.7 mln) put together.

With a council of ministers that has both S. Jaishankar and Pratap Chandra Sarangi, perhaps it is time to leave behind the old uprising based on English-speaking skills etc and enter an age where the only thing that counts is ability, sincerity and honesty - clearly the govt has.

'Brahmins obstruct India's development'. This is what the person leading the attack on Akshaya Patra, the world's biggest successful mid-day meal scheme, wrote. Is this why she hates vegan/vegetarian food which is celebrated world over? @TVMohandasPai

The story of Nambi Narayanan should go down as one of the most powerful recent lessons of how deep state Indians are working overtime, and all the time, against the interests of the country. It is amazing that there isn't massive public uproar about this terrifying story.

Just saw a video of the Indian middle class, which has grown significantly, and is still growing rapidly, being called selfish, and communal by a TV journalist. Now at an average human beings are selfish, no doubt, but there is a deeper truth which needs to be told specific to

Mark my words - if Jamshedpur is taken away from Tata administration and given to the Jharkhand govt, it will immediately become the sort of dirty, criminal hell most Indian cities are. It is the Tatas who keep Jamshedpur world-class.

World over the virtues of vegan food are being celebrated everyday but in Karnataka, a gang of 'activists' are trying to destroy the world's biggest, most successful mid-day meal scheme, Akshaya Patra, because it is pure vegetarian. What a scandal. Hope Akshaya Patra fights back.

Yes, firecrackers cause some air pollution but on its own this would be negligible and only for a day or so. But with the continuous stubble burning and vehicular pollution, it becomes a major problem. So why don't we stop crop burning and fossil fuels than target fire crackers?

It should never be forgotten in any debate that India is the only country in the world which did not respond militarily when its parliament was attacked AND when its financial capital was attacked. No country has, or can, or will, show such patience. That patience has run out.

If the US had the photo of its ambassador to any country and other diplomats on billboards asking for them to be killed and offering $10,000 for their home addresses, what would it do? This is what has been happening for months now to Indian diplomats in Canada.

India just escalated tensions by suspending visa services in Canada. A responsible power would have taken no further action and sought diplomatic negotiations when/if possible. I know this plays well domestically in India, but the world is watching too.

In a recent interview Ashley Tellis exclaimed at a curiosity in the Indian elite - while almost every other elite in every other country wants, if the opportunity arose, for their country to attain ‘great power’ status, but significant parts of the Indian elite don’t want this.

India is the only country in the world where you will find people who are strident and vocal advocates of EU unity but Indian disunity. Basically, unity to retain summer holiday visa advantages, BUT disunity to assist insidious political shenanigans back at home. How bizarre.

From the moment the disastrous Kerala floods struck, almost on cue a drumroll began pitching Kerala against the rest of the country and suggesting that supposedly other nations care more about Kerala than the rest of India. This is insidious, vicious and completely orchestrated.

Yet millions of children are being taught to hate a festival with no nuances. Why are their parents tolerating this? I am telling every child I meet to light 100 fuljaharis. Doesn’t have to be noisy bombs. If I had children I would sue the school for unscientific brainwashing.

:-) It is almost funny how little India is understood - this Communist Party of India got 3 seats of 543 in the last national elections. This time might be lower. And this rally has nothing to do with national polls. This is a CPI(M) rally against the Bengal state govt of TMC.

The Mahabharata is not a real estate battle. It is not Gurgaon of the ancient world. It is an intricate philosophy that is concerned with the idea of dharma, to put simply, what is right, what is wrong, how, in what way. It is sophisticated theology, philosophy not land grab noir

India has a Stalin Society of India. ‘Respected’ teachers are part of it. At the most conservative estimate, Stalin murdered, between the gulag and famine, around 8 million people. In which other country in the world would this escape intense scrutiny and criticism?
