We don't "lose" players to America Young players go & have a meaningful life experience in a different country for a few months It's a shit attitude from GAA people to begrudge a young lad a summer abroad having fun & earning some cash, just because he is unavailable for a match

@RoyCurtis68 @ColinHiggins16 I’m beginning to think the same Roy, I was initially in favor of at least trying it but club league is even gone to pot now with no access to co under 20s seniors & footballers for a lot of clubs . I liked the idea of August 3rd & 4th Sunday. We will also lose players to 🇺🇸

For everyone outraged by the GAA over the Liam Miller Memorial match, why not contribute to the charity of the event as well. If they got €5 for every person that gave out about Pairc ui Chaoimh not being available, that would make a difference.

Less than 0.1% of adult club GAA players had meaningful games in August in the past. Now that the season is split,100% of adult club players get meaningful games. I would rather the best months be for the 100% than the 0.1%. How could anyone disagree with that????

1. Appoint a National Hurling Director - it doesn't have to be a big hurling name, just someone that can put in place a strategy for developing hurling in clubs, counties, regions, etc. Identify the issues on a local level and plan from the bottom up.

What needs to happen for hurling to survive and then thrive where it faces difficulties? Peter Fortune and Joe Fortune are not short of ideas.

Interesting quote from Dennis Bergkamp. Remember in his autobiography he spoke about putting different types of spin on the ball, seeing how it reacted against the wall and controlling it.

First match of the year. Beautiful day for it and a good sporting game of Junior B hurling. I felt a bit old when the whole full back line playing in front of me weren't born when I made my Junior B debut 19 years ago.

Hammies in the last 5 years have reached semi of Harty & 1/4 of Corn ui Mhuiri, with only a 60x40m mud patch. No gym,No pitch,No hall. Imagine if they had a pitch/astro on site instead of begging off local clubs. Think of what could be achieved then. Some joint up thinking needed

Shut up Tommy. If the RTE analysts want you to play all summer, you do it and don't be talking this nonsense.. How can gaelic games fight off soccer and rugby if you are playing club challenge games or going to Ibiza??

Got the chance to watch a few Cork club games today. Meelin vs Glen, last minute goal to draw. Blarney vs Ballincollig, 1-1 in last minute to win by 1 point. But this passage from @ErinsOwn_GAA with the Hook Hurley swap and pressuredto win the sideline. Unreal

Not giving out about any individual county but the structure for minor football in Munster is a joke. Cork win 1 game, lost by a point to Kerry and are out. Yet again, the 2 best teams in Munster will not meet in the final.

People talk about hurling snobbery but Gaelic Footballs unwillingness to embrace tiered competition is beyond a disgrace. U17 is kids age. This obsession with "minor" is blocking any chance of development for most kids at this age. Celtic challenge format only way forward

When you see the huge panel sizes on some of these school teams, you have to ask the question "could we do more to accommodate more players?". Should there be a Harty "second team" competition, to run parallel to the Harty e.g. Cashel A&B vs Flannans A&B at a venue with 2 pitches

One thing that really bothers me about RTE and their main highlights programs (League Sunday, The Sunday Game) is the lack of actual match coverage and too much meaningless analysis. I'd prefer if they showed extended coverage of the actual matches & heard less from the analysts

Inter county senior,U20 & minor football championships are the only competitions in the WHOLE of the GAA, that aren't tiered Hurling is tiered at all levels, club championships are tiered.Even Go Games is tiered to ensure close games. Why not do the same with intercounty football

@mylodubsfan Play the panelists who didn't play Saturday. Play the 2nd team. Play the game and respect the competition.. 14 other clubs in the league would have loved that opportunity. Is the league beneath them now?

1. Club 2. School/College 3. County That should be any players priority, & those in charge of each of those teams should be aware of such. Unfortunately, a lot of mentors seem to think this is upside down, and those mentors are sucking the fun & enjoyment out of the game

This is an anti hurling stance.. The only people being punished are the small cohort of people trying to keep hurling going on these counties. The people who get shat on within their own counties by County Boards that, for the most part, don't give a f*** about hurling...

My biggest fear for the future of the GAA will be small, rural clubs going into extinction. Witnessed it on Bere Island last weekend, where they were unable to field a team this year. The repercussion was, the club were not entitled to All Ireland tickets

This is good stuff here and great to see the whole "Development Squad" process discussed. @MrSeanCrowley did some internal research a few years ago and out of it all, the most reliable indicator that a player would play senior was by being a 2 or 3 year U20/21 player... 🧵
