Permanent Daylight Saving Time would put TX sunrise past 8am for up to 5 months, as late as 9am. It cost children’s lives in 1974. Permanent Standard Time would end clock change and keep sunrise before 8am for health and safety. Mexico chose pST last year. The US should too!

Winter solstice is tomorrow in the northern hemisphere. We’ll have our year’s shortest daylight, then longer daylight into summer. However, sunrises continue to come later until early January, due to astronomical imperfections. Sunsets have become later since early December.

If the Sunshine Protection Act were to pass, permanent DST would put Indiana sunrise past 8am EDT for more than 5 months, as late as 9:14am EDT!

Daylight Saving Time gives you less time each day. When the sun sets, my clock (in Arizona) says 7:30pm Standard Time, and I still have 90 minutes to get to bed by 9pm. If we were on DST, it would say 8:30pm, and I would only have 30 minutes. #DitchDST #SaveStandardTime

Today is #equinox , one of two days each year (one in spring, one in autumn) when day and night are equal in duration (12 hours each). The sun rises near 6am and sets near 6pm #StandardTime , halfway between midnight and noon (Daylight Saving Time offsets this balance).

Dear @GovAbbott , Mexico is now on permanent Standard Time. Permanent DST bills also failed repeatedly in Texas’s neighboring states. pDST would disrupt TX business and risk TX lives. No on HB 1422!
