This is not good folks. Hurricane Laura has that "buzzsaw" look. Doesn't really matter much if it's a high end Cat 4 or low end Cat 5 at landfall. It's carrying a huge dome of water. Most of the LA coast is only a few feet above sea level. My goodness...

I'll say it: It is dangerous and unnecessary for reporters to do news live shots in a hurricane! Too much flying debris. There are live cameras EVERYWHERE now. In the old days, maybe you needed that shot. Not today.

It's after Christmas, so I can rant. 😁 WINTER STORMS SHOULD NOT HAVE NAMES! The reason we name hurricanes, is because there can be many happening at the same time. (better than 1,2,3) Generally, there is only 1 winter storm at a time. Do we really need to call it "Elliott"? 🤨

Not trying scare or hype, but there will be a BIG storm in the Eastern US that will disrupt Holiday travel plans at the end of next week. GFS ens looks good for snow in Baltimore. Even the cutter solutions of the Euro/CMC produce 'some' snow. Enjoy the ride, and stay tuned! ❄️🚂

If Congress does pass The Sunshine Protection Act, and make Daylight Saving Time permanent, that would mean that Sunrise here in Baltimore over the winter will be at about 8:30 AM (January). You ok with that? Good trade off for not changing the clocks twice a year? 🤔

On Christmas Eve in 2015, Baltimore hit Record High of 71 degrees. In January of 2016, we had a Monster Storm that produced a Record 30" of snow. That's all I'm saying about that...😜❄️🚂

Headline for Sunday is 1" to 3" of rain, with 30-40 MPH Gusts. However, new GFS Ens has multiple small waves of Low Pressure on the front as it passes. This gives the cold air a chance to 'catch up' to the rain, making snow more likely early Mon AM. 👇 Stay tuned...❄️🚂

Not sure if you noticed, but the Sunrise for Baltimore is now before 6 AM (5:55 AM). The days are getting long! Today, the Sun will set at 8:10 PM. That's 14 hours and 16 mins of daylight! The Summer Solstice is just over a month away. It will feel like Summer later this week. 🙂

It's the last day of the year, and it's going to rain in Baltimore. That makes 191 days this year with some sort of precipitation recorded at BWI. That means it's been raining/snowing on over 50% of the days this year! And that includes 36 weekends. Here's to a new trend in 2019!

Why does I-95 always seem like the rain/snow line in MD? That's where elevation starts to go up (N & W) and about where the influence from the Bay (warm air) and Ocean begin to fade. It's not a magic line, but it works! Likely be the case with this storm too. 👇 Stay tuned. ❄️🚂

Model runs today still on track to bring Baltimore it's snowiest week in a few years! First round of snow Monday-Tuesday. Next round on Friday. 👇 I don't think either storm will be a "Monster" snow event, but we're back in the game! Stay tuned...❄️🚂

I'm not saying it's going to snow before Thanksgiving...but...👇 After the rain from Nicole passes through MD over the weekend, the pattern is going to lean "Winter-ish". Southern branch of the jet will get active as the cold air moves into the Mid Atlantic, so stay tuned. ❄️🚂
