Condolences to the family and friends of Kelli Hand & Paul Johnson. We lost true Detroit and Chicago pioneers, essentials in the foundation of House and Techno. Rest In Power.
Mike was my mentor, my teacher. A guardian w/ immeasurable influence. all these decades later, I hold him in the highest regards. Mike Huckaby & his endless contributions will always be the truth. An irreplaceable Detroit enigma. Godspeed my friend, Huck 💔
#MikeHuckaby313
remember the next time you wanna complain about House Music and Techno, that incredible and talented Black Artists laid it all down for us so we could have something real special in our lives.
Paul Johnson taught us how to bounce to the beat. A groove like no other, honestly. This is so depressing. But the records, the music will remain timeless and uplifting. We will always have that Chicago groove. godspeed PJ! ❤️
Mad respect for Kelli Hand. We finally met in London of all places a few years ago. Those Acacia records; she was pioneering! You leave us with an inspirational Detroit music legacy. Thank you. Rest eternal, K-Hand 💜
the perception of techno today is very narrow/ flat/ dare I say ignorant?/ and often a point of hilarity! the word is practically reduntant. god forbid we want some depth. a catchy bassline. a groove in our Techno! to actually be able to “dance” to! like we used to…
I’m sorry but this is just tacky. Its also insanely disrespectful. you deserve a permanent ban from NY nightlife. just leave it behind. problem solved, faux raver whatever that is. cuz your whole energy tells me all these spaces are exactly for people - not like you. stay home.
the lost art of house dancing! 90s headz were so unreal, from NYC to Detroit to Chicago! dancers went off! F corny ass tik tok choreo in 2024 🙄. bring back the grooove, the mood, the mooooves! for the love already!!!!

compilation Vol 8:
if you can’t handle a guy getting his life on the dancefloor in a speedo, then u ain’t ready for Berlin. or NY for that matter. stay out of our sacred spaces ffs.
the essence of dance music and club culture always aligned with the gay, queer, and trans folks first and foremost. it will always be ours first. period. u are celebrating and empowering us with every beat, like it or not.
one of the greatest DJ’s I’ve witnessed in life happened a few short months ago in Leeds. I was truly blown to bits by the brilliance. That DJ was Andrew Weatherall, of course. I raved about him with Alex T. afterwards 😪. A legend has passed. Godspeed, Mr. Weatherall ❤️
last night someone said “can you like play something danceable?” she got the hand to the face, a glare, and a go away! trust! I shoulda put on autechre 4 her. we were legit playing 90’s rnb dance remixes! 🤡
America hated this era of
@Madonna
for the same bs they are still on about today. But she kicked the doors down by being fearless, bold, and challenging societal norms. people will never give her the credit, but she shifted the conversation & made everyone look in the mirror.
i have an opinion about dance music i don't like. and so what. this isn't debate class. my entire ethos as a dj is based on my midwest roots. it's black. gay. acidic. housey. techno. futurist. it can be sampled based. funky. bassy. sexy. aggressive. real. & it's personal, periodt
so, the woman next to me in biz class was like..."um. my son says you're a really amazing...dj?!. he said "don't say anything mom. don't embarrass me."" lol. so cute. i can't. you on the lissst, luke! lol.
loved music too much, listening to punk, new wave, industrial, hip-hop & prince while discovering shoegaze, house, techno & acid all at the same time, as it was all evolving. I found the correlation between a lot of it. it all spoke to me. it's all I had. it all still resonates.
IM GOING TO BE VERY BLUNT HERE. IF U ARE ANTI VAX/ DO NOT BELIEVE IN COVID AND ITS DESTRUCTION OVER THE LAST 16 MONTHS, PLEASE STAY THE FUCK OFF MY SOCIALS. YOUR POV IS UNWELCOMED AND A COMPLETE DISRESPECT TO ME AND THOSE I HAVE LOST. KINDLY FUCK OFF.
everything is falling apart. well…except MKII Technics 1200s. specifically, this one from 1995, blessed by The Wizard in its lifetime.) I didn’t know it at the time, but the 1200 represented optimism and hope for so many of us lost Detroit kids. don’t ever let go 🔥
Godspeed
@Djdeeon
. you had us all for life the moment we heard that Funk City EP. You changed the way we Jack: in the booth and on the dancefloor! Thank you. Rest in power.
DJ DEEON 4 EVER! 💔❤️🩹❤️🔥
there are 2 different dj universes. stop treating it as one. stop wasting time with opinions on this nonsense. it is pure industry fuckery.
these posers exist on an entirely different wavelength. they are the antithesis of everything so many of us stand for.
@I_Skream
I get what you’re sayin’ but the art of djing and the music we praise so much that got us all here was born out of political movements. we are living in times where such things cannot be ignored. people need to vent. let em. I wanna know who I am fuckin’ with tbh.
thot of the day: you can have all the accolades. play with goddesses and gods, have 25 years of dj experience. and still feel empty. this high/ low and taking it from hobby to career...I really don’t know sometimes. the frustrations are real. the dj life is a mind fuck, y’all.
i need that main street ish chez and trent'y m.a.w. mood II swing-y derrick carter boompy dub mix vibe back. like, i need the fucking groove. i've had enough of
blandness.
i have to say, bookings can look impressive, stacked. but the truth of the matter is you never know how far this is going to go. you're in. you're out. you're in again. you're ok, i guess. lol. you're overlooked. and then you're nonexistent. lol. it's true.
i never thought all these years and years down the line i would be embarrassed to say i am a DJ. I don't even tell people that. i say i work in music if asked, but i'm just gonna keep on lying.
friends. family. mentors. idols. heroes. your fucking legendary heroes. take it all to heart y’all. u aren’t above any of that. your best, most influential peoples are not on this earth forever 💔
Huck had his vision and path firmly planted. He never compromised his art. He nurtured a community. He never let success or failure get in the way. His mission was to teach inspire, and move. His legacy: timeless, deep transportation. This loss is too tremendous.

fuck demolition disco night.

anti black.

still getting her revenge, honey.
happy anniversary.

the topic of "who have you seen DJ more than any other" yesterday on the dancefloor: for me, it's Theo Parrish! seen him play more than any other. every head nod, necksnap, body jackin' Theo music moment from the mid 90s to now: Brilliant💎. no one like him. who is that for you?
some of the music being played out there is highly questionable (aka highly cringe worthy) and everyone eating it up says to me taste levels are way down. that’s not shade. those are the facts.
sometimes I see dj instagrams with like 50,000 followers +++ and I’m like this is blasphemous cuz, who are you. an edm dj? but like, bye. 4 real. what dj culture has become is often shameful, when u are a proper head and just wanna play music and have to see nonsense, daily.
I said “carry the torch!” it’s on you now. I don’t have a problem w/ young djs. I have a problem with bad ones. period. we are not all here for the same thing. do the work. listen. learn. innovate. inspire. good day.
djs/live acts have to remain hopeful and not feel let down or let down even 20 people in a room. you never know who is in that room paying attention and actually caring and realizing talent. optimism when it feels low is taking the higher ground. every gig counts. be your best.
We booked an artist based on a performance we saw at an event that zero people attended. Point being, for a working dj, no gig is a waste of your time.
also, all the
@AphexTwin
shade is literally from everyone that was a toddler when Richard was cranking out masterpieces at 17. what makes u special, really? lol. y’all make me lmao. xo
i honestly don't listen to mixes at home or on the go or whatever so much. i really don't. i know some people that eat sleep & breathe a dj mix. and nothing other than dj mixes. i am not one of those. like i need other shit. i need albums. i need songs. i need nostalgic moments.
people selling their dj assualt records lmao. your loss, honestly. of course I found this after detroit this past weekend. our mf anthem
@heyygirllhai
🤣😈
ignorant people love to turn shit around. house and techno music is inclusive til you forget why it existed in the first place and are so offended and so threatened by acknowledging gay and queer culture being the dominant force in all of it.
the way these EP’s truly shaped me. 90’s game changer. thank you Deeon. we only met once. I opened for you and it was all respect. your legacy is eternal.

always posting classic music shit cuz I love that history. but also, what the world refers to as “Techno” today got me cringing like a mf. like, it’s actually embarrassing. & yes, new shit does exist. obvs. bless if u recognize a groove. but a lot of what’s out there ain’t IT. 🥴
I ain’t gonna speak on it much but ima say this. entitled straight white girl energy in gay/ queer spaces is not it. especially this month. don’t get in the way. and watch your tone. 🫖
u don't have to be everyones fave. all, obsessed. u just put the best version of u out there, enjoy the ride, & know you truly touch & move the people you do reach in a profound way. u share that moment of happiness in a smile, a nod, a dance. we see each other. xo
I am no longer with Odd Fantastic. and i know the unsettling nature of being dropped. It is a sensitive topic. I am in full support of Enyo who was a consistent lifeline for me. a point of confidence & energy I needed to navigate and do the job well. she is integral, period. 🖤
year end lists. i'm happy to see so many friends being acknowledged. for tracks. albums. dj mixes. etc. here's the thing. no matter the outcome, you just keep doing things your way and eventually people will notice. its not just music. its life. its living. its being your truth.
the scene is divided into elitists and fakes. and the ones in the middle ground. that limbo zone. thats where that real headz shit is at. good mornin'. don't at me.
black history is every day. international women’s day is every day. supporting transgender rights is every day. gay pride is every damn day. this endless fight for liberation and freedom is non negotiable! 🔥
that
@Moodymann313
video truly should have everyone shook. more terrifying shit! we cannot lose our idols. our black friends. our black men, women, and children. Amerika and its militarized and brutal tactics and an overall racist feel in 2019? so damn shameful!
#BLACKLIVESMATTER
i am a vinyl junkie. trust me. and i spend.
but...
i really don't see the fucking point of being on bandcamp if you aint gonna give up those digital files.
at this point...what are you even doing?
you just like to get under everyones skin. you get off on it.
since y’all talkin’ about it… never fucked w/ Drake. but I am curious what Beyoncé gonna do in regards to House Music. I never had a problem with the mainstream in that stratosphere back in the day. the remix packs used to be everything. from Mariah to Janet to Madonna…
amen for the underground. it still exists. it’s alive and well and kickin’. I’ve seen and heard it. we don’t need to subscribe to the bs or be on trend with now. we thrive in our taste and execution, inspiring one another on a dancefloor that matters. that never dies.
I always knew there would be a fork in the road and divide a global music scene eventually. shit came up quick. you either stay ignorant and tone deaf, or be genuine and open your eyes, listen, and realize why this is happening. wear your shit on your sleeve so we know.

the loss of Mike Huckaby, that pain never stopped. And now Kelli Hand. in the midst of all the maddening bs in this world? it’s just too damn much. care a lil extra for each other. our time is sacred. 😔
continue to stream sets, let the music lift our spirits. we need this. I am truly appreciative of the optimism , the dance, the donations from the livestream. I don’t know what to say. I don’t know what matters right now. I do know we need these moments to get through the day.
that is NOT the sound of House Music but ok. 🙄 also, I find it hilarious how many e*m djs think they are in the same realm of Frankie Ron Larry etc. just accept you are a different thing entirely and actually don’t even really belong in some of the spaces you want to occupy.
customs: “do you play trance?”
me: “lol! NO.”
customs: “my boss asked me if you played trance and if so to ask for tickets. what do u play?”
me: “house and techno. trance is my nemesis. lol. no offense.”
customs: “non taken. I like house. yer all set.”
me: “have a good weekend.”
we are actually mixing and remixing and tweaking and adjusting and locking the damn groove, working our ass off to set a vibe but every corny mf ass had to ruin it for us all so you can tik tok about it and drag the art form even further into an actual abysss of hell, thanks! 🤡
how come all the no ones are such fucking experts on how one should dj?
@dj_nobu_ft
san ain't lost, honey. he can do whatever the hell and move however the hell and play however the hell he wants to. have some mf respect.
headz will continue to push forward, thrive, innovate and stay creative, while trendy gimmick types with no sense of reference and purpose fade. If you’re meant for longevity, it’s because this is your life’s work with meaning. and you will fight for it.
people are always like “I’m not going to the festival. I only go for the after parties.” and that’s fine. but, I want the entire experience of that whole weekend. I love it all so much. it’s so many levels, like no other weekend anywhere in the world, all year.

when theo parrish dropped ministry's work for love. i lost it! i'll never hear that song the same ever again. it was a moment. for love. for loooove...
