@RichLowry Drag Cuomo for his boasting. But NY's "highest death toll in the nation" (just wait) resulted from the city's urban density & connections into the suburbs, and the fact that its outbreak was already advanced when *the nation* woke up. Let's be clear about who deserves most blame.

This is so important. Flu is bad. Covid is many times worse. It is a very aggressive virus, and we are not bats. Our immune systems are not good at fighting SARS-Cov-2. Americans are getting covid on average once a year. It is damaging our brains, hearts and immune systems.

@johnbruso @trvrb @PangoNetwork @nextstrain @WHO Endemic just means there is sustained community transmission. That could well be the case already; Fauci says there are no reported US cases but we have poor genomic surveillance. If it is as infectious as they say, you may as well call it endemic as soon as it lands here.

@steven_pifer Do US officials want a [not a proxy] war in which Ukraine's capabilities are defined by what we give them, and NATO weapons are landing on Russian soil, but Russia can't strike NATO targets? And expect Russia to play by those rules? Are willing to bet the whole world on that?

@joshtpm WHY IS THIS A QUESTION OF POLITICAL POSTURE & whether kids should or shouldn't be in school, instead of a question of HEALTH and whether we are CURRENTLY facing an EMERGENCY that makes it NECESSARY to close our still-unprepared schools temporarily???

@CT_Bergstrom From the beginning of the pandemic I have noted the high prevalence of bad reporting in our nation's premier liberal elite newpapers and magazines, mostly by journos semi-literate in science & sold on the notion that moderation means setting the appropriate tone & +

@Rainmaker1973 The water molecules don't amplify the signal (would violate energy conservation). All of the energy is coming from the key fob. But its antenna is small compared to the ~1m wavelength. She's using her body as an antenna to couple the key fob more strongly to the radiative field.

@phuckfilosophy If I'm not mistaken it would have been pocket change for him not only to support you in comfort but to hire someone to look after you full-time if trust was the issue. This kind of cruelty is not an unfamiliar story in families, or in rich families.

Great essay by @DrRadchenko . All the people who insist we must brace for war with Russia, or capitulate to Putin's demands, should fix themselves a warm, non-intoxicating drink, read this and think on it awhile.

@mgerrydoyle It isn't organic politics, it's a fascist gambit. Once you are able to delegitimize and strip rights from one group, you have power you can use against anybody. They tried with immigrants and Muslims. But trans people are the perfect goat, because no one will speak up for them.

@sandersted This methodology is fundamentally unsound. Who says these are the distinct gateways? Yet you invent a set of them, pull out poorly-supported estimates, and finally multiply all the numbers together. If you'd thought of a few more, you could have got you P down way further.

@Snowden @washingtonpost Read the room, Ed. I know, it's tough times being a world-famous whistleblower down on his luck in Putin's Russia. To think, you were once all-American boy standing up for freedom & privacy. Quite a bit of tarnish on your halo these days. You're still free, at least. Or are you?
