NEW: We just got more results in from Nevada's caucus. 71.58% of precincts reporting.
Sanders: 47.5%
Biden: 20.8%
Buttigieg: 13.7%
Warren: 9.4%
Steyer: 4.5%
Klobuchar: 4%
Gov. Steve Sisolak, on CNN right now, says he's been on weekly calls with the White House COVID task force "literally begging" for PPE and test kits. He says an organized national response "would've saved thousands and thousands of lives."
Clark County Registrar Joe Gloria on the Clark County Commission District C race: "We have found discrepancies that we can't explain that would cast a doubt on whether or not that margin of victory is solid."
BREAKING: The South Carolina House rejected a bill 47-55 Tuesday evening that would have prohibited abortion starting at conception with no exceptions for rape and incest.
BREAKING: Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge has just certified that the Supreme Court has overturned Roe. Abortion is now immediately illegal in Arkansas.
Abortion is now illegal in six states -- Arkansas, South Dakota, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri and Oklahoma.
NEW:
@Culinary226
releases a statement criticizing Sanders supporters for having "viciously attacked the Culinary Union ... simply because our union has provided facts on what certain healthcare proposals might do to take away the system of care we have built over 8 decades."
Hi friends! What happened in the Clark County Commission District C race was not “large scale voter discrepancy.” There were 139 discrepancies in the race, which normally would not matter except the Democratic candidate in the race, Ross Miller, won by only 10 votes.
Big victory moments ago in the State of Nevada. The all Democrat County Commissioner race, on same ballot as President, just thrown out because of large scale voter discrepancy. Clark County officials do not have confidence in their own election security. Major impact!
NEW: Nevada Democrats are developing a new "tool" to be preloaded onto iPads and distributed to precinct chairs. The tool — which volunteers who attended a training today were told is not an “app” — will fold in early vote results on Caucus Day. Story coming soon on
@TheNVIndy
.
Clark County Registrar Joe Gloria notes that the ONLY race they have an issue with is the Commission District C race, because of the 10-vote margin: "That's the only race in the entire election we have any concern related to the outcome. And it's because of the margin."

’s spokeswoman tells me they have received “hundreds” of attacks, in the form of mentions, DM’s, calls and emails, including threats to their personal safety. She says she and Geoconda Arguello-Kline have been doxxed, their personal addresses shared.
As a journalist, I'm just here to the report facts. I have never said I wanted Biden to win. I have never said I wanted Trump to win. I am not "afraid" there are more discrepancies. I'm just here to report the news, which is that Clark County reported 936 discrepancies today.
NEW: Two top
@Culinary226
officials shared with me copies of the threatening and profanity-laced tweets and emails they have received.
"I know tens of thousands of Bernie supporters and we will come after you fascist imbeciles," one email said.
STORY: The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority has advised the company that leases the hangar where President Trump plans to hold a rally on Saturday that the event is in violation of a state directive limiting gatherings to 50 people and that it cannot proceed.
And there it is: “LAS VEGAS RAIDERS TO REQUIRE PROOF OF COVID-19 VACCINATION FOR RAIDERS GAMES AT ALLEGIANT STADIUM”
Raiders to require all home game attendees to be vaccinated ⬇️
Final word from the Nevada Secretary of State’s office: No results today. Clark and Washoe have also said they’re not posting anything which means:
No new numbers out of Nevada today at all!
So, to recap: First the Secretary of State's office said no new results today. Then Washoe County said new results at 10 a.m. (which didn't happen.) Then Secretary of State said YES new results today. Then Clark said NO new results today. Now Washoe says NO new results today.
Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak is the latest Democratic governor to issue an executive order bolstering abortion protections. The executive order protects providers, bars the state agencies from participating in out-of-state investigations and blocks extradition requests re: abortion.
NEW: Washoe County Registrar Deanna Spikula says Washoe County will NOT be posting any new results today. The next result update won't happen until tomorrow morning.
I just got off the phone with a PA who works in an urgent care clinic here in Clark County. The short of it — she's seeing a lot of folks with COVID-19 symptoms who are testing negative for everything else, but there aren't enough tests to go around to test them for COVID-19. 1/?
NEW: In a new flyer,
@Culinary226
warns members that
@BernieSanders
would "end" their much-loved union health care. The union has not announced whether it will endorse, but the flyer appears to be part of a coordinated campaign ahead of the caucus.
As fireworks pop after President-elect Joe Biden's speech, Clark County has just dropped another 8,361 ballots, 4,870 for Biden and 3,039 for Trump. Biden's margin has again widened to 2.12%, or 27,530 votes.
- Joe Biden: 49.97% (647,474)
- Donald Trump: 47.84% (619,944)
Ahead of the caucus, Nevada Democrats announce that more than 10,000 Nevadans registered as Democrats during the early voting period. With 75,000 early voters, that means about 13.3% weren’t previously registered Democrats.
Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom is pressing the point that if there is a recount, the same discrepancies would still be present. A recount does not address those discrepancies.
It’s time for — as they say — some personal news: I am leaving

Joe Biden: "And now we're ahead but we're winning in Arizona, we're winning in Nevada and in fact our lead just doubled in Nevada." Which, true. He went from a 11k vote lead yesterday to a 23k vote lead today.
Indiana lawyer Jim Bopp, who has authored model anti-abortion legislation, told POLITICO the 10-year-old who got an abortion in his state should have carried her pregnancy to term and would have been required to do so under his law, via

Worth noting neither of these types of ballots would exist if not for
#nvleg
, which passed same-day voter reg in 2019 and vote-by-mail in 2020, to expand access to the polls.
So, Nevada is taking a long time to count its ballots because it wanted to make voting easy.
Alright folks, here’s where we are at. All numbers are approximates and don’t include HAVA provisionals or signature cures outstanding.
Mail ballots to be counted- 58,000
Same day voter reg ballots to be counted - 66,500
Total ballots to be counted - 124,500 (90% are in Clark)
@Culinary226
A spokeswoman for the Culinary Union tells me that the "attacks" the union is referring to here include tweets, as well as "a lot of phone calls and emails" the union has received.
Some 2020 news this morning: Team
@JoeBiden
is bringing on Kevin Liao (previously on the Warren comms team in Iowa and press secretary to the speaker of the California Assembly) as Nevada communications director for the general election.
This is not what happened. Clark County elections officials, in preparing for the final canvass of results, identified 936 discrepancies, including 139 in the Commission District C race. The Nevada secretary of state's office is responsible for investigating allegations of fraud.
Clark County Commission Chair Marilyn Kirkpatrick what is going to happen to the people who voted twice. "I hope that we're going to go after them" she says.
Gloria says the cases will be referred to the SOS for investigation.
There is a process in place to find errors in the election! And when those errors are found — and are bigger than the margin of difference — you have folks like Gloria who will bring them to light. This is exactly how the process is supposed to work.
Also, who was it who identified these discrepancies? The registrar of voters in Clark County. The exact same Joe Gloria that Republicans have been maligning through this entire process. It was Gloria and his team who identified these errors.
At a rally in Henderson today, Sen. Lindsey Graham said it “took like five minutes” for Sen. Dean Heller to back Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh and urged voters to make Democrats “pay a price” at the ballot box for stalling the nomination.

NEW: Clark County just posted 30,322 new votes, 19,995 for Joe Biden and 9,357 for Donald Trump. That WIDENS Biden's margin over Trump in Nevada to 1.76% or 22,076 votes.
- Joe Biden: 49.83% (624,246)
- Donald Trump: 48.07% (602,170)
Trump says in Nevada "you don't have to have an authorized signature" on your mail ballot. Here's the Nevada secretary of state's "fact vs. myths" document, which says that ballots are rejected if the signatures on them do not match the signature on file:
They're now discussing the fact that Clark County *could* set up a special election just for ONE particular race (in this case Clark County Commission District C) to re-run the election if it doesn't certify the results of that particular race.
NEW: Clark County releases results for 10,840 ballots, 6,095 for Joe Biden and 4,215 for Donald Trump. That continues to WIDEN Biden's margin in Nevada, which now stands at 2.71%, or 36,163 votes. Statewide numbers:
- Joe Biden: 50.22% (670,257)
- Donald Trump: 47.51% (634,094)
More news: In a repeat of what happened after Iowa, more than 100 Nevadans have signed up after New Hampshire to be precinct captains for
@PeteButtigieg
, including in Mineral and Lincoln counties, according to his campaign.
Total raw vote gain in Clark County:
- Joe Biden: +9,101 votes
- Donald Trump: +4,706 votes
That's about 2-1 Biden to Trump votes. This is why Democrats like Clark mail.
NEW: Clark County just posted 14,285 votes, only slightly widening the margin between Joe Biden and Donald Trump in Nevada from 0.6 percentage points to 1 percentage point, or 12,042 votes.
- Joe Biden 49.5% (597,353)
- Donald Trump: 48.5% (585,311)
President Trump says there are only a few states yet to be decided in the presidential race: "The voting apparatus of those states are run in all cases by Democrats."
Nevada's secretary of state is a Republican.
As 19 presidential candidates prepare to speak at an AFSCME forum in Las Vegas, I've gotten the results of a presidential straw poll of
@SEIU1107
members. Among the Democratic field:
- 21% Biden
- 20% Warren
- 16% Sanders
- 14% Harris
- 9% Yang
- 4% Gabbard
- 3% Buttigieg/Booker
Depression is real, stubborn, relentless. Feels like moving through molasses. Rears its head when you least expect.
Sending ❤️ to everyone out there — both journalists and not — who feels alone. You are not alone.
Nevada Secretary of State says there are 124,500 ballots left to be counted statewide, 90 percent in Clark County. They include mail ballots and same-day voter registration (provisional) ballots.
And you know what? The entirely Democratic Clark County Commission decided, yes, this race is really close and the discrepancies are large and so they are going to hold a special election (i.e. a revote) to ensure the residents of District C can be confident in the outcome.
It sounds like there are essentially two routes: Either the Clark County Commission could make a decision on the revote today OR they could certify the results of the election, Stavros Anthony takes the matter to court, and a court could order a revote.
NEW: The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority has sent a letter to the company that leases the hangar where Trump's Reno rally will be held on Saturday advising them the rally violates the state's 50-person limit on gatherings and that they may not proceed. Story coming on
@TheNVIndy
.
Gloria says he HAS found discrepancies in the Clark County Commission C race that he can't reconcile. There are a total of 139 discrepancies in that race that he acknowledges "could affect the outcome of the election."
Clark County Registrar Joe Gloria says there is no election that goes without identified discrepancies. The issue here is the margin of victory. Gloria says they go through to ensure the discrepancies are smaller than the margin of victory, which isn't true in this case.
Talked with a Nevada State Democratic Party official just now, who confirmed that Shadow DID develop both apps that the party was planning to use, both the early voting app and Caucus Day apps. Confirmed that the party has terminated its relationship with Shadow since last night.
NEW: Nevada Democrats release turnout numbers as of 5 p.m. 11,800 people! In one day of early vote! (About 84,000 people total participated in the caucus in 2016, for context.)
We are very excited to share that as of 5:00 p.m., we had more than 11,800 Nevada Democrats participate in the first day of our historic four-day early vote period!
Thank you to all the voters and volunteers who made today such a success.
#FirstInTheWest
Arkansas just released its June Medicaid renewal data — which means we now have data for three of the six months of its unwinding process. Nearly 220,000 Arkansans have lost coverage since April 1, nearly 150,000 of them for procedural reasons.
Gov. Steve Sisolak, in a statement tonight, fires back at President Trump while seeking to boost confidence in the electoral process in Nevada: “I ask all Nevadans to support our election workers, trust this process and respect the results when they are certified as final.”
NEW: Top Democratic presidential campaigns in Nevada are frustrated, concerned and nervous with only five days until early voting is set to begin for the state’s first in the West presidential caucus and still no details on how exactly it’ll work.
A not so fun fact I realized as I was writing this week's Coronavirus Contextualized:
10% of all COVID-19 cases reported in Nevada since the beginning of the pandemic were reported in the last seven days.
@KamalaHarris
@Culinary226
@GovSisolak
In closing,
@KamalaHarris
says that there are some people who say, "I don't know if America is ready for a woman, of color —"
"Yes we are," a few shout.
"— with an immigrant background—"
"— yes we are —"
"— to be president of the United States."
Sisolak said Trump cared about himself being protected last night but not about the several thousand people who showed up to his rally: "He knows what the rules are ... He chose to show callous disregard in a reckless, selfish, irresponsible way."
DNC Committeewoman Allison Stephens, who had previously endorsed
@JulianCastro
for president, is now backing
@ewarren
. This means Warren now has the backing of both the DNC committeewoman and committeeman from Nevada.
Those discrepancies, when you look at how many were in each race, were NOT enough to change the margin of difference in every single race in Clark County EXCEPT Commission District C, again because the margin was literally 10 votes.
There were 60,109 provisional ballots, 57,866 were accepted and 2,243 were rejected. Those rejected include:
- 115 who had already voted
- 142 voted in wrong precinct
- 8 not eligible to vote
- 1,925 not registered to vote
- 53 did not provide adequate proof of residence
BREAKING: Gov. Steve Sisolak has tested positive for COVID-19 in the course of regular testing for the virus. He says he is “feeling fine” and doesn’t have any symptoms.
Some good data news today! COVID-19 hospitalizations in Nevada hit 305 yesterday. That's the fewest number of people we've had hospitalized with the virus statewide since this data started being reported on March 26, 2020.
Second candidate of the night:
@KamalaHarris
.
She has a little trouble getting started because her section is cheering so loudly.
"So listen, in 2020, in 2020 — the clock is ticking on me — it’s good. You’re good now."
I actually could cry.
Please, everyone in Southern Nevada who is eligible (including now, yes, journalists! and a bunch of folks more important than me) make an appointment now here:
Life goals: Survive COVID-19 at 116 and then celebrate my birthday with a lunch of port wine, foie gras with hot figs, roasted capon with mushrooms and sweet potatoes, Roquefort and goat cheese, red wine, a raspberry and peach Baked Alaska, and champagne.
More than 140,000 Arkansans have lost Medicaid in two months, most of them for procedural reasons.
I drove hundreds of miles around Arkansas to find out why so many of them are falling through the cracks.
Second dose of the vaccine, complete! 💉 Was a little scared by the line when I arrived at the Las Vegas Convention Center, but door to vaccine was still only an hour, all told! Folks here were so nice and helpful. Feeling very very grateful. 🙏
.
@PeteButtigieg
starts off talking about El Paso: "America is under attack from homegrown white nationalist terrorism." He calls white nationalism "evil" and says it is "inspiring people to commit murder and it is being condone at the highest levels of the American government."
Thank you, Nevada, for these last six and a half years, for the wonderful people, for the lessons learned, for teaching me what it means to bloom where you’re planted.
Deep in the heart of the golden west, home means Nevada to me. 💙 Goodbye for now, you lovely state.
In North Carolina, two Republican candidates for state Supreme Court are leading by about 4-5 percentage points with ~70% of votes in. If they win, the court will have a 5-2 Republican majority. (It's 4-3 controlled by Democrats right now.)
Clark County Commissioner Larry Brown is now amending his motion, asking the Clark County registrar to come back at their first meeting in December with options for a special election in the race.
NEW: Clark County has released the results from 8,713 ballots, 5,454 for Joe Biden and 2,934 for Donald Trump. This WIDENS Biden's lead over Trump to 1.78%, or 22,657 votes. Statewide numbers:
- Joe Biden: 49.83% (632,558)
- Donald Trump: 48.04% (609,901)
@Culinary226
@BernieSanders
Just got confirmation from a Culinary Union spokeswoman that the flyer is also going out to members tonight via text and email.
NEWS:
@RepSusieLee
, who had stayed neutral in the Democratic presidential race, announces she supported
@PeteButtigieg
in Nevada's first-in-the-West caucus.
So thankful for all of the journalists at the Capitol today. From hundreds and thousands of miles away, state and local reporters are sending our gratitude and prayers. 🙏
Clark County has finally released their new election results from today, a total of 1,209 ballots, 814 for Joe Biden and 362 for Donald Trump. Biden's margin stands at 2.75% now, or 36,726 votes. Statewide results:
- Joe Biden: 50.24% (671,427)
- Donald Trump: 47.49% (634,701)
Washoe County also just posted another 1,464 votes, 960 for Joe Biden and 451 for Donald Trump. Biden's lead in the state now stands at 2.40%, or 31,464 votes. (Clinton's margin of victory in NV in 2016 was 2.42%.)
- Joe Biden: 50.09% (657,248)
- Donald Trump: 47.69% (625.784)
I don't get the chance to say this a lot, but I really do feel like I've done some of my most meaningful reporting in the last year. I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity.
(Remind me tho to never volunteer to cover both a pandemic and an election in the same year again.)
Clark County finally dropped the results of 58,016 ballots this AM, 28,053 for Biden and 28,601 for Trump. This further narrows Biden's margin to 2.42%, or 33,999 votes. (Clinton's margin in '16 was 2.42%.) Statewide:
- Joe Biden: 50.07% (703,277)
- Donald Trump: 47.65% (669,278)
Some GOOD Saturday night vaccine news: More than ONE MILLION Nevadans are now at least partially vaccinated against COVID-19! The CDC reported tonight that 1,006,304 people in Nevada have been partially vaccinated. 💉🎉
In total, there were 936 discrepancies identified across Clark County. That includes six people who voted twice, among other issues like check in errors, inadvertently canceled voter check ins, issues with the ballot cure process, etc.
Attorney Craig Mueller is here in front of the Clark County Commish asking for a "total revote." Mueller is alleging that the Clark County registrar "flooded the county" with an additional 93,000 ballots, which he says wouldn't have been a problem if not for the sig ver machine.
Gloria says the cost of a special election depends on how the election is held. He says that he will prepare those numbers to present to the commission at their meeting.
