HOW I TRANSFORMED MYSELF
Over the past 5 years I've transformed myself from the man you see on the left to the man on the right.
It's been much more than a physical change and this thread will outline the major ways I've improved my life.
@ZubyMusic
We got locked in our homes and had our rights taken away after an overreaction to a pandemic and an independent Oxford educated rapper on social media was one of the world’s leading voices of reason about it
Then: sedentary, binge drinker, ate crap, lived vicariously through pro athletes
Now: active, sober, eat healthy, competes as a triathlete
I’m living the dream & it all began with one decision
@kirbsanon
He probably gets drunk and high on weekends because of emotional trauma that he’s suppressed/repressed and now with his newfound obligation hasn’t found another release for this energy.
I don’t think it’s pathetic and I wish him well in his journey to healing
I wake up between 6-6:30 AM
magnesium glycinate + l-theanine, drink water & bone broth
Spray body with magnesium chloride & go out for a 15 min shirtless walk at sunrise
Back inside have goat milk kefir + caco powder & goji berries, water, mag glycinate & black coffee
I experienced a Christmas miracle in 2013.
My mother gave me a Fitbit.
I thought it was stupid but later that day I put it on and went for a walk.
I started walking 10,000 steps every day. I changed my diet. I lifted weights. I lost 75 pounds.
It all started with that Fitbit.
@mane3sha
Returning to my childhood interests has made me a more authentic version of myself. I’m closer now to who I actually am than at any other point in my adult life.
I took asthma medication every day for 30+ years until I cured my asthma in June 2020 using nasal breathing & breath hold exercises.
I’ve since run a marathon & an Ironman 70.3 with zero difficulty breathing.
Today I threw out my leftover meds.
Yesterday afternoon saw a woman hanging off the side of a boat twerking in her underwear for enjoyment of the strangers sitting along the Chicago River
Many of them cheered in support, including one woman who got on all fours and twerked back in solidarity
I was struck by how
10k 🙏
I’m Matt
In 2015 I was depressed & 250lbs
In 2022 I am loving life, 175lbs & training for an Ironman
I did it by building my body, mind & emotions
I’m here to teach you how I did it
I walked 10,000 steps every day for 7.5 years
I woke up at 5 AM to walk, walked in airports, walked in blizzards, walked at the gym, walked on vacation, even walked circles around my small apartment
Don't tell me you can't find time to get exercise
I’m 33 years old on the left. In Vermont to drink craft beer. Drove up a mountain to “hike” half mile at the summit. I was 240+, depressed & tired.
I’m 39 on the right & weigh 168. I’m finishing an Ironman 70.3. I’m happy & love life.
I made a decision & showed up every day.
Thank you all for your support, I appreciate it very much ❤️🙏
I’ve got nothing to sell (yet) besides living a happy & healthy life
My girl Courtney & I have been on this journey together for over a decade - follow along and see what’s next for us!
Today I turn 40
Chronological age is an anchor & we've been programmed to expect things at certain ages
I reject this programming
I’m healthier, more energetic, more athletic, stronger, faster & smarter at 40 than at 20 or 30 & I'm going to continue this trend into the future
On the left is me 8 years ago, age 30.
You can improve yourself too if you put in the work.
The key is to get started.
The best time to start is today.
Why are testosterone levels low?
Environmental & nutritional deficiencies are an obvious answer but testosterone is produced by the body on an as needed basis.
Most men aren’t challenged in the day to day in such a way that would prompt their bodies to ramp up production.
If I zoom out it’s crazy that I can run hills on a treadmill for 84 minutes & not feel tired after
I was the least athletic guy out there
I didn’t play any sports in high school because I was bad at them & felt embarrassed
It’s never too late to turn it around
@agitalagzdina
@MAstronomers
Occam's razor would suggest this is true, considering the incalculable number of things that would have had to have happen “randomly” for humans to exist here on this beautiful earth
A lot of people told me I look old after my viral tweet
I’m 39 and abused my body for years so what do you expect?
I’m not Ponce de Leon
I feel better than ever tho
Train every day for Ironman races, ran a half marathon in 1:42 last year
More energy than when I was a kid
These weddings with
@cookingcourtney
were only 4 years apart.
You can accomplish so much if you put in the work consistently over time.
Make 2022 your year.
I had amazing experiences because I lost weight
Never did I think I could go for long ocean swims, multi hour bike rides, run a marathon but I’ve done that and much more
These experiences have shaped me in ways that never would have happened if I stayed fat
I walked 10,000+ steps every day for 2.5 years without changing my diet and saw little to no weight loss.
Once I started restricting my calories I lost 75 pounds in under 9 months.
@DrEliDavid
I donno man lining up and covering 26.2 miles with nothing but my feet, pushing my mind and body far beyond what I thought my previous limits were was far from pointless for me.
It gave me tons of confidence and helped me in every area of my life.
I walked 10,000 or more steps every day for 2.5 years and didn't lose weight
After I began to track my food & calorie intake I lost 75 pounds in 8.5 months
Walking alone isn't enough
Some people have suggested that this is just how it is now
I refuse to accept this
We are being manipulated into this degeneracy by evil forces
But there many good people of virtue, morals and integrity
Now is the time to stand up and say something
@ZubyMusic
It’s not like they hide their agenda or influence either…there’s videos of that Klaus guy talking about how he’s got all these world leaders bought into his program
MINDSET
Mind is most important. The decision to change comes from the mind.
A strong mind is built by doing hard things but these books can help:
-Can't Hurt Me (
@davidgoggins
)
-Outwitting The Devil (Hill)
-How To Fail At Everything... (
@scottAdamssays
)
-Relentless (Grover)
I don't worship Elon Musk but I do find it fascinating that people much less successful than he are critical of his business acumen despite the fact he's demonstrated superiority to almost everyone in this area
In March 2020 I began to work from home and now I understand the significance of not spending 40 hours every week in an office.l
No more terrible office air
No more terrible light environment
I get outside more, plenty of fresh air & sunshine.
@vishalghoshroy
Let your positive emotions guide you. If you don’t experience those than you are lost in your own head (too analytical/anxious) and you need to work on that by raising your energy.
@FitFounder
Body atrophies sitting in that chair staring at a screen all day
Gym 3x/week isn’t enough - need to get up and move frequently throughout the day
Build movement into the say: walk on lunch/breaks, use the bathroom on a different floor and take stairs
If you’re kinda autistic learn to use it to your advantage
Get obsessed with productive stuff like health or wealth
Not pro sports or video games
You’re probably don’t understand theory of mind so psychology is a great one
Nueroplasticity means our brains keep developing
@FWPlayboy
Lead by example. She struggled with weight for a long time, mixed success with Weight Watchers. Once I got serious about fat loss I demonstrated my way was better so it was only natural after a few weeks of my success that she started doing what I did. Down a combined 175 lbs!
Fat loss opened the door to a new life for me and over the last 3.5 years I've swam 360 miles, cycled 6,841 miles and ran 3,307 miles
None of that would have been possible if I didn't lose 75 pounds in 2016 and keep it off
What doors can fat loss open for you?
@NoraKAli
Triathlon! At age 34 I was 235 pounds. At age 37 I hadn’t ridden a bike, swam or run in 20 years. By age 39 I’ve completed 8 races including an Ironman 70.3. I do alright - top half/third of my age group in big races, had a 3rd place AG finish at a smaller race.
