The actual message of these strikes is that after 12 years this government cannot afford to pay its' workers sufficiently so that they can afford to heat their homes and eat. Everything else is just background noise. We need a competent government that can pay real living wages.

Three new spaces. An extra 700 events a year, catering for 2500 new acts, 8000 musicians, 4000 crew, 70 fte jobs and audiences of 190,000 people. Actually making and enjoying new music. Some of it with the potential to be as important to people, and to Liverpool, as The Beatles.

27 countries used to let our musicians perform freely, without carnets, visas, local taxation and labour law compliance. 19 of them have now agreed UK musicians can play without visas, but with carnets, taxation and compliance. If that's a positive outcome, I'm a banana.

@Independent I suggest that the government needs to make an urgent statement on this matter. If this offer was made and declined, the government needs to return to the table and accept it; if it was not it now seems to be on offer. This is the solution. @nadams @edvaizey @Alison_McGovern
