Typos is now available on the App Store for free! 🚀 It lets Apple Vision Pro users use their iPhone as a keyboard. Typing text on the Vision Pro virtual keyboard isn't ideal. So Typos aims to help users to type a URL or piece of text using their iPhone.

Pretty happy with the latency of Bezel so far. Still amazed it beats QuickTime! The difference is pretty noticeable, especially when put side-by-side. Seems a small detail, but I'm sure it will make Bezel feel better than most alternatives when you try it.

Introduced this toolbar in the latest Bezel update. Adds close/minimise buttons and shows the name and model of the device. Very useful for users with multiple devices connected to know which device they're looking at. Some nice details in the 🧵 below.

Accidentally created the Droste effect by making my iPad mirror my Mac and having my Mac show my iPad using Bezel, that iPad shows my Mac on which you see the iPad showing my Mac that shows the iPad... Well just watch the video, that's easier than explaining it.

@BeGuillaume Not sure what screen copy does,but have used QuickTime myself over the years a lot. This requires no setup, just plug in the iPhone and the mirror shows up. We automatically show the right device frame of the plugged in device. Curious what you think of it when you give it a try!

Bezel uses the wallpaper from the macOS version you're on. I love adding details like this! Have zero proof, but like to believe that users will "feel" these details because it shows something familiar. Are more product builders guilty of this or is it just me? 😅

First iteration of the recording user interface of Bezel. Want to keep it super simple and clean, so it's just a recording button in the toolbar, subtitle and red color of the button indicate that the recording is running. Trying a very no-nonsense approach here.

A nice quality of life update for Bezel; you can now open a device from the menubar. Comes in handy when a device window is closed or hidden behind other windows. Simply click the Bezel status bar icon, then select the device you want to see. It will pop back up instantly. 🧙

TIL a super easy way to filter logs in Xcode! Right click on a log message in the Xcode 15 console to immediately show/hide similar log messages. Helps me quickly narrow down the logs I want to look at! Here I filter down to logs from my Recorder and hide all Debug noise 👇

@steipete When building SwiftUI views for iOS 14 I find myself often consuming Combine publishers in an ObservableObject. In this case the new assign(to:) takes care of the lifecycle stuff, pretty neat. But only usable in this specific scenario.

Added texture to some artworks and it looks super slick in the Apple Vision Pro simulator. Seeing the texture of paint reflected in the light of the room makes me want to touch the art. This feels so real. Top cube has thickness and cracks. Bottom cube is "just an image".

Unedited recording from my iPhone made with Bezel. Lot of rough edges to polish, first frame is empty, recording is sticking out behind and rotation isn't working yet. It's starting to come together! Basics are in place, audio is already working. Now we can polish and iterate!

Went to a Vision Pro lab last week in Londen, traveled by Eurostar train. Very productive day testing, fixing and improving our visionOS apps. On device testing remains very useful (obviously), but a ±4 hour train ride is also quite productive to fix learnings from the lab. 😃

Added landscape support to Bezel for Apple Vision Pro in version 1.1. Was pleasantly surprised how many users requested this feature! Was something we cut of to make it on launch day, happy to be able to ship it so soon after launch. 🚢

During lunch Tom and I decided take the rest of the day to throw together a live caption app for Mac. It was a pleasure to use Whisper, really impressed how far we got in so little time and how accurate it is! We have much fun playing around with our prototype. 😄

It's interesting how SharePlay on Apple Vision Pro is by far the best SharePlay experience. Very discoverable with a sharing button above every window during a FaceTime call. Makes it easy to initiate a session. Could make SharePlay a valuable feature to add to your visionOS app.

Writing a page about what the RecordKit SDK is and what it's for. Writing forces me to make it clear what benefits the SDK provides. Also helps to discover gaps in our thinking! So easy to skip over the hard parts when doing things only in your head.

We've also added a mute button in the toolbar. Comes in handy now Bezel also mirrors the audio from your iPhone. Lets you silence the device with a single click. 🔇 Click the speaker button in the toolbar again to unmute the connected iPhone/iPad.

Improved connecting a device with Bezel, my iPhone mirroring app. It's quite a dance to trust your iPhone with your Mac, especially if they never connected before.Very important for security, but it shouldn't be so confusing. Bezel will take you through the process step by step.

Love how this empowers the idea of ads that aren't about revenue or tracking perse,but more all about empowering indie apps to make their app freemium. Pretty genius approach! Makes me consider a friendly ad powered plan in our apps instead of having to go for time based trials.
