I can’t quite believe I’m writing this tweet... I am the first ever blind
@BBCR1
presenter... EVER! 🎤 listen to my shows on the 28th and 29th of December 🎧
The other day was my eight year anniversary of going blind. There was a time when I didn’t want to be here because of it and now I live every day being grateful of who I’ve become
I knew this day would come. Today I handed in my lovely guide dog Olga’s harness forever. She is now officially retired. I’ve never been a Lucy without an Olga. This is going to be a huge change! My beautiful girl & I have had so many adventures. Here’s to her well deserved rest
Gok, you made me feel Lucy again. 6 years ago I lost my eye sight. Ever since I have felt anxious about the big milestones as I cannot experience them in a visual way. You made me believe that I can love what I look like and make my own decisions on the things that matter to me.
Morning... thank you so much for all you gorgeous messages about Say Yes To The Dress! 😊 this Friday’s show is beautiful - I help a young woman who has lost most of her sight - a real stand out moment in my life, I loved making this episode 💖

. Your ray of light is still shining wherever you are. Here’s to a true friend who totally got me and my disability. I promise you I will never stop fighting for our equality ❤️

I open my curtains every morning and could think ‘oh I can’t see out the window’ but I choose happiness and feel my lovely velvet curtains and think how lucky I am to own my own window in my lovely home 💛
Happy international
@guidedogs
day! This is my beautiful retired girl Olga💛 Today I celebrate her and look back at our amazing working partnership. I love that she is having fun, but I do miss the bond we had when out working together. Can’t wait for the next chapter🦮
Honestly feel like the luckiest girl walking into the
@BBCR1
studio!! I have the opportunity to live my dream again today😍 listen to my second and last show from 10am till 1pm! ✨
So I picked up what I thought was air freshener and started spraying it around the room… At first, I wondered why I couldn’t smell anything and then Ollie came in to the disaster that was my living room... with shaving foam all over the carpet.

This is disgusting!! I’m so sorry you had to go through this. I hate that there’s still lots of ableism about in 2021. Ableism can get in the bin. Send your lovely headshot to a lovely modelling agency that see you for your talent 💛
Qualification day tomorrow with Guide dog Molly!! All fingers and toes are crossed! I will be filming this the meantime check out my guide dog series all about UK guide dog training on my YouTube channel.
On this day two years ago Ollie proposed to me on a private sparkly volcanic beach In the Canary Islands ✨ I don’t need eyesight to relive this beautiful memory. The smell of the sea, the feeling of the sand and the warmth of the sun ☀️ The true beauty in our world is love
When my world went completely dark my gorgeous guide dog Olga came into my life. She was the light I needed to make me confident enough to walk out my front door alone again. Choose hope and trust and you will find your way.

Day three of guide dog training complete. Loving my treat pouch when I’m out doing roots with Molly. Went to a coffee shop and took her on her first free run walk in the park.
Day one of Guide Dog training complete. Walked round the block with Molly. Went over technique, commands and spending. Adjusted my handle size to 20. Bring on tomorrow!
Day two of guide dog training complete. Walked round the block again. Already feel confident with little Molly. She is just perfect! Also, chatted about grooming and what to do with longer hair dogs as I’m used to miss shorthaired Olga
Just wanted to say thank you so much for your support over the past few days 💛
@YOSushi
have emailed to say they intend to do staff training but I’ve tried to ring them twice and they’re not prompt at emailing back!! Still feel quite emotional about everything

The blind community is going hungry because supermarket delivery slots aren’t available. My eyes don’t work so getting out to do a massive grocery shop and trying to social distance isn’t going to be a good plan😞😔
People with sight loss can’t access vital services like food and medication. This has to stop. Sign our petition to the government now:

Asked my HomePod for the news this morning and was really sad a news item about McDonalds running out of milkshakes was apparently higher on the agender than the Paralympics ceremony this afternoon…
Tonight me and my school friends are dressing up like it’s 2012 and having a bit of a garden party. Honestly, quite weird for me as this is the last time I saw them all and tonight they will be wearing the same outfits!! 👩🦯😂

Okay, so Olga the guide dog had hiccups and before I knew it Ollie shouted boo! It scared the life out of me and her... who knew that dogs were the same as humans because she didn’t have hiccups anymore after that… Wish I was videoing, it was a cute moment!!
Ollie found her sniffing a St. Bernard’s bum a quarter of a mile away. We are new to this area so now my lovely neighbours who came out to help know me as the hysterical crier. Olga is now snoring with her burger soft toy like nothing’s happened

Didn’t realise how much not having a good vacuum was affecting me. I can’t see Olga’s hairs so I used to spend ages getting frustrated. I made it my mission to save up and I’m so glad I did! Guide dog hair will no longer be on my blind girl floor!!
