also, hi new followers, I'm a TV writer who's making a short film in January! it's a love letter and warm hug to the many Black girls with undiagnosed ADHD (and so many other demos too). you can learn more about it at

Remember when Aang went to a school in a nation built on extreme nationalism and imperialism and he was reprimanded for pointing out a lie in a textbook about the country's failures?
@_lexaholic3
I love that rate for them. UPS and all the postal people I’ve heard from deal with wild weather conditions, truck problems, weird people, and keep so many other businesses and lives afloat with their work.
@siyyaninaas
she KNEW her sister wanted to get married at the boathouse in their mom’s dress, and she decided on a WHIM to do the same thing AND cut the dress up!! Jane needing to stand up for herself aside, that alone was unforgivable
@nightoscphere
Ayo trying her best to keep up the accent, and he knows the whole time it’s awful but doesn’t say anything until a fight in act two when he tells her to be honest for once!!!
🗣️ I DIRECTED A MOVIE!!! Still processing that I spent this weekend living a dream I’d set aside years ago.
@waystoflyshort
is a bit of everything — girlhood, dance, Black hair, motherhood, mentorship, acceptance, and freedom — and honestly, that’s the point. Excited to share 💕
you roll up to the most important spades time of the year when people are serious, and you're like "ooh what's that?" it's not the time. they're fighting the itis, the likka, and their ancient grudges right now. ask again next week
are people "gatekeeping spades" or are you asking to learn how to play at critical times like holidays, family reunions, and cookouts? let's look within, saints.
I pitched the necklace swap! Since a theme here is showing up for each other, it felt right & like a perf shorthand for them.
@JenniferVestuto
and
@MelissaMarlette
kept the pitch, and now the Nace necklace swaps are my first real on screen TV pitches 🥲
the fact that ace gives nancy her necklace so that she can wear it was already sweet enough bc it shows how well he knows her, but then later you find out that he knew it was kate’s death anniversary all along and it gives that whole moment an even more beautiful meaning
nooooo the way people were writing dissertations about her being a bad mom for crime fighting while pregnant but then went up for Peter B bringing Mae in her carrier 😩 that was before we even got into her actual choices re: Gwen
one of my fav parts of
#NancyDrew
410 is that Bess is so annoyed over getting pushed out by the Glasses of all people that she texts "kitchen is full" and goes to hang out w/ Ace but winds up helping him search for a missing hiker & reminding him that he shouldn't date a 👻
@JasmynBeKnowing
Exactly. It’s the sort of organic thing that has to come from the chaos, and when brands try to tap into it, it always ends up looking corny at best and misguided at worst
anyways, y'all can watch Nia's actual first feature, 'Little Woods' (2018), which is a beautiful character story and a crime drama/modern western starring Tessa Thompson and Lily James.
The director of the Marvels had only directed one feature before.
It was the failed retelling of Candyman.
They’re letting people with barely any experience direct 250 mil dollar films based on their race and gender.
Be as critical of it as you want. It’s all rigged.
@noctblues
97% sure Lestat was once like “she’s humming out of tune just to spite me, Louis. Tell her she’s off key before I show her on someone’s vocal chords myself” 😌
okay but now that the season is done, let me say as both a fan/involved-person that it makes me laugh when ppl say that while also having an ongoing catalogue of every Nace moment & like hand touch & emotional progression. + the whole s4 while not ~about~ them v much centers them
s4 is so much about shadows and redemption + history repeating itself + what we owe to the people who came before us, ourselves, and everyone who will come after us. so we see that w/ the whole Drew Crew all throughout the season in diff ways.

Yes, she has. Here’s Justin Halpern, a co-showrunner on ‘Abbott,’ literally stating that when somebody else tried coming for Quinta a few weeks ago. The current conversation isn’t writers vs showrunners. It’s about the systemic devaluation of writers + residuals by studios.
Quinta is a WGA member! She has nothing to do with our pay. We are paid by the studios and I have seen her use her power as the star of the show to push for our writers to get the best deal possible. This labor action is about the studios eroding all writers pay.

@theeashleyray
The fact that you didn’t even tag him / the play, or say its name, but he still chose to attack in response. Not a good look.
I’m still collecting myself, but what a ride and what a well-executed one. Kudos and thanks for another great watch. I’m gonna go process like Charley for a beat
#QueenSugar
@MatthewACherry
my brother started telling me about daycare prices where he lives the other day, and I had to sit down and try to process how anyone is meant to do all that, and pay rent, and buy food, and everything else
Happy premiere day,
#Drewds
!! I freaking loved being a Writers' Assistant on Nancy. So much love to every single one of our
@DrewCrewWriters
for being so gracious, welcoming, brilliant, and present. The upside of this spring premiere is getting to see you all for another summer
okay when I first saw this tweet, I chuckled bc it was more right than y'all could have ever prepared yourselves for, but it also makes me sad to pull it back up w/ 412 actually playing 😭
#NancyDrew
lots of emotions on the
#NancyDrew
tl, and I'm excited to dive into this 412 live tweet. a true Céline special and I couldn't imagine anyone else leading us into the finale. but first, some 411 thoughts I forgot!
Instead of tweeting uninformed takes that paint this WGA issue as writers vs showrunners (who are often also in the WGA and impacted by this), maybe watch this and listen to the writers talk about the residual/pay issues and the minimums paid by Studios?
@chescaleigh
Blows my mind that she acts like you bring up your credits as if it’s unprompted boasting and not informing people that you work in the industry and know what you’re talking about. Like sorry you’re not a person relying solely on guesswork and vibes?
@strongblacklead
😭 The quote and the perfect green suit are everything. So ready to see how she interacts with the nerds in ST3 and what’s to come next
also I forgot to respond to whatever thread people were doing their fav Nace moment, but for me, it's them listening to the safe w/ Amanda watching them like ???? bc that shit was instinctive and smooth
something something TV is a living fluid thing, and that’s why it’s collaborative and requires writers on set/watching as it grows so the story can move organically
Nope. Nancy & Ace’s r'ship came organically out of Kennedy & Alex’s dynamic work on screen. It wasn’t until after S1 wrapped that NL realized what we had in front of us: 2 chars who started out as friends, whose love for each other had grown slowly over time, as it often does irl
"Freedom is the ability to be happy and safe and Black all at the same time."
Thank you,
@MsPackyetti
, for going on Live and allowing a place to process today.
If you haven't, please check out

s2 on Hulu! It's up now! SUCH a great show, and this review mentions the broadening of the scope, so we can see more of this fantastic ensemble. also, adding an excerpt from this review that touches on my fav element ✨
I reviewed Season 2 of
#SingleDrunkFemale
for
@PasteMagazine
which is the best show you’ve probably never heard of and whose second outing is a wonderfully deft exploration of what addiction and recovery looks like.
@singledrunktv
"Yeah, 'filler episode' gets tossed around a lot, but a true filler doesn't move the story/season arc or help develop the main characters. If it's doing either of those, then it's not a filler. It's just focused on a different part of the story than you wanted it to."
also, just to say it, I've been rewatching Superstore recently, and my goodness, it's so good. such a perfect look at what's great and absolutely awful about retail (and people in general)
Oh, my goodness. I want to buy
#FastColor
and just send it around like the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants to everyone I know. Immediate favorite. PLEASE go see
