It's a huge injustice that Squidward is considered a bad artist in-universe
Like this guy learns all kinds of art forms (presumably mostly self-taught) and all he uses those skills for is creating artworks of himself, what a power move
Also it's a subtle detail, but in "Artist Unknown", Squidward is first shown drawing a sloppy circle, but towards the end of the episode, his circle has really improved. Meaning he immediately picked up on the techniques Spongebob used, and likely subconciously at that
He's good
According to the official website, Galarian Zigzagoon is thought to be the oldest subspecies of this Pokemon, and the one we're familiar with is likely an offshoot of it
Which means it's actually like:
So you know that Star Allies concept art of Dedede that they showed off on twitter? Where they showed all the layers of his outfit?
Well, as it turns out, the Kirby Star Allies art book shows that they actually went
one step further
A bit late perhaps, but I was very amused by Gengar becoming infatuated with Chamomile in Episode 7 of
@chuggaaconroy
's Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX playthrough
So I did a little redraw of the "Nemesis" comic from "Hark! A Vagrant"
I need to tell everyone that, according to supplementary material from around the time Kirby's Adventure was released,
Kirby might purr happily when you pet him
Some time ago I mentioned how Sakurai once confirmed that Kirby does not have bones or teeth, and also that he does not wear shoes
And I thought maybe I should go ahead and show the sources for this, both from the Q&A section of the old "Smash Bros. DOJO" website for Melee
Hey, people who make games with character creation in them:
There is literally no downside to have all customization options be available for all characters, rather than divide them by sex or gender
I know this is an old thing, but this is actually so funny when you remember Roger is not just like, Bridget's magic teddy bear, he's the spirit of an old warrior possessing a teddy bear
@HatokTalk
It's funny cause this isn't even reeeeally a Paper Mario trademark "make the player do something annoying just cause" moment, it's more like a "you are given free movement within a prison and have to figure out how to escape from it" chapter (with shades of the former)
I must tell you that, according to the Japanese guidebook "Nintendo Official Guidebook: Kirby of the Stars 3", Gooey lives in Kirby's house:
"Lives in Kirby's house, free of charge.
He can slurp up things that even Kirby can't eat in one gulp."
Uhh, according to the Japanese websites for Planet Robobot, Susie loves ice cream so much that she specifically begged for ice cream factory in that game to be built
The reveal of Kirby and the Forgotten Land made me think about the celebration picture "A Farewell to Kirby" again.
So, I felt like translating the Designer's Note for it, from page 185 of the Star Allies art book. (1/5)
There’s one little detail during the final boss battle of Splatoon 3 that’s lost in translation
See, there’s a specific phrase associated with the Calamari Inkantation in Japanese, “to hear it is heaven, to sing it is paradise”, which keeps popping up throughout the games- (1/5)
@CursedMario
I think the point of the stage was to make it look old and worn down, cause it's like, the first Super Mario level
I don't think the slight comedic aspect of hyper realistic Mario was lost on the devs either
@WhimsySmoothie
right foot goes over, left foot hits it at an angle that makes it fly up and get jammed diagonally between both legs, in front of the left and behind the right
Ive had this happen irl
@z_t00n_
wild fact about them is they're actually wearing the mask sideways on their face, so they can look more like a dolphin (cause dolphins got their tail fins at a different angle than fish)
And yeah this also means theyre actually always diving sideways, too
@SuperstarAmelia
Okay but the weird part is, everyone says they think this is bs, but iirc no one outright debunks it, like no one says "actually, I remember you only became king 20ish years ago" or smth, not even the elderly
implying Dedede HAS been king for longer than theyve been alive for
Since it's the 31st anniversary of MOTHER aka Earthbound Beginnings, it feels like a good time to post this.
There's so many different ways people interpret Ninten, I thought you could easily make a hexafusion chart just with versions of him.
So that's exactly what I did.
@TeeHallums
While Toriyama's coloring could vary, it's notable he specifically made Goku darker than Krillin here, for example
Like, he could've easily made them the same, but he didn't
@akemisgirl
Baiken Guilty Gear tbqh
She's still p masc overall in her mannerisms and stuff, but Xrd especially (jump to 3D) put a huge emphasis on her boobying breastily and all that
(obvs you can be butch/masc and have big boobs, but you gotta keep in mind the chara design intent too)
Every now and then I mention how Magolor actually has an accent in Japanese, so I thought I should actually explain what I mean.
Basically, Magolor's dialogue has a lot of カタカナ/katakana used in places where you'd normally use ひらがな/hiragana instead. (1/3)
@W0lverr
Also like, a factor to consider is that both these characters are using semi-goofy anglicisms in Japanese here, which can come off as eccentric/quirky
The English loc here just recreates that vibe with different tools
Reminder that this isn't the same Harvest Moon that you grew up with, called "Bokujō Monogatari" in Japanese
THAT series is now being published under the new name "Story of Seasons" in the west
@_claypot
I do not think this is a retcon, cause Asgore clearly remembers fighting and killing children when you try talking to him during the fight with him
The items being strewn about is explained by the river of trash that flows through the whole underground
Fun fact: since Dedede from the games and anime are such different characters, fans gave them seperate entries on pixiv.
They distinguish them by calling the game one "King Dedede the Great", and the anime one "His Majesty King Dedede", which is what he's often called there.
"the story is about kids who go into a seldom visited part of their school after class to go through a portal into a cool world where their clothes change and they have adventures"
Deltarune or Digimon Adventure 02?
@fin_sharkoo
It's a fun subversion of that expectation I think
We know he drinks her blood all the time and that's cool, but that's not all there is to their relationship
Them doing haiku together is cute ^^
Meta Knight is only called "Sir Meta Knight" in the anime, implying the doesn't have that same title in the games.
However, there are other characters in the games who do bear the title "Sir", leading me to the following conclusion:
The thing about Kirby lore is, in many ways it actually is as massive as people tend to claim it is
But also a good deal of the stuff fans keep repeating all the time is actually just highly dramatized, slightly misinterpreted, or just entirely wrong
@Akfamilyhome
In Japanese ge's just called Bob-omb still, but he also says he can't remember his name
So I wonder if the English trailer spoiled his name to appease fans?
HeartGold and SoulSilver were Gen 4 and came out 3 years after the initial Diamond and Pearl. And those were sprite games with just shy of 400 monsters.
Now you want Gen 8-style Diamond and Pearl remakes with almost 1000 monsters just about half a year after Sword and Shield????
@ElasticMud
It's funny how it also kinda mirrors how their relationship started - he says something to her she doesn't wanna hear, so she pushes him away and leaves a cryptic note in a book instead of communicating directly
The Great Dedede-Directory # 25
"This is 'Marx', the jester with galactic ambitions!
Apparently, he caused some huge accident once, 'cause he wanted to be free to pull as many pranks as he likes.
He may be cute, but don't let your guard down!" (1/2)
The Great Dedede-Directory # 89
"Hm! Look at that sweet mask and the giant hammer... That's right, it's 'Masked Dedede'!
No one knows the identity of this warrior, who first showed up in 'Super Star Ultra'!" (1/2)
In Splatoon 3′s final battle, the phrase returns once again, where this time Cap'n Cuttlefish starts with the first half, and DJ Octavio finishes it with the second half
And it's just nice to see them say this phrase together, given their history and all (3/5)
@JennyENicholson
It's like they wanna subvert the monarchy stuff cause its gotten criticized more by now, forgetting that this leads into a story that hinges on monarchy being good and divine actually
Reminder that, according to the Japanese guidebook "Nintendo Official Guidebook: Kirby of the Stars 3", Gooey lives in Kirby's house:
"Lives in Kirby's house, free of charge.
He can slurp up things that even Kirby can't eat in just one gulp."
@EMositeCC
People tend to forget how much better Simon got in the later seasons, once Marcy was willing to have him in her life again and more ppl became aware of what his actual problem was 😭😭
He was doing so good tbh...
Also there's something neat about Octavio saying the "to sing it is paradise" part here
He's always been shown to enjoy listening to the song, but this is the first time where we see him actually performing it (even if he doesn't sing), so that adds something, too (5/5)
Okay so, I always loved Guilmon
In-universe, it's a Digimon OC created by a fan, which then comes to life
And its design just PERFECTLY captures that "fan-made character" look, but in a way that celebrates the passion that goes into fanart, rather than cynically mock it
A+
I totally forgot about this one:
The three Dark Matter-like entities from the beginning of Kirby 64 are actual characters and have official names
They're called Dark Rimuru, Dark Rimura, and Dark Rimuro
"My mother is the moon, my father the sun
It's hard to say where I belong..."
My personal interpretation of “Halbkind” (”Half-child”), the child of the sun and the moon, from the 2nd Tabaluga concept album.
I really like this character.
