Unfortunate truth: power scaling matters in DB. Db is a battle Shonen, much of its narrative tension is derived from power struggles, and the ability to overcome them. If powers are inconsistent and ham fisted, that narrative tension loses credence.

The Yo Son Goku special is such a primo example of how much the color pallate and background design really matters. The designs we got for the characters were largely similar to what we'd get for Super. But the difference in those two aspects really makes a world of difference.

For all his incredible music he created for Dragon Ball, ultimately I don't think any of Sumitomo's contributions will ever surpass Bardock Falls. Just an incredible, insane, 5 minute long, multi-part, to-scene work. I dont even like DB Minus, but the score completely sells it.
