Y’all remember when Sean Payton was suspended for a FULL YEAR by the NFL because he was paying his players to intentionally injure opponents?
$1k if they were carted off, $1500 if they lost consciousness - Cam was named as a specific target.
Miss me w/ the glowing tributes.
Greg Olsen on Cam Newton:
"For the years that we rolled together, when we played every game together, there wasn't anybody better than us. That's just the reality of it."
Matt Rhule firing Joe Brady because Sam Darnold couldn’t hit open receivers a year after Brady schemed four different players to 1,000 yards with Teddy B as his QB is sneaky underrated as a turning point in Carolina.
The moment when the offensive starters are announced vs. WFT will literally be one of the most incredible in the history of Bank of America Stadium.
Can't wait.
Teddy Bridgewater:
"I understand Cam was a fan favorite, and he still is - but at the end of the day, my job is to win football games."
"I'm not here to win people over. I'm here to win people over by winning football games."
Panthers paid Cam Newton $6m to take 251 snaps in 2021 - two total in the final two games.
This was how the Panthers treated what was/should have been a storybook return of the best player in their team’s history during what was ostensibly a lost season.
Can’t think of another team or situation where it feels like they went from dead in the water to real contenders in the span of four days but hello let me introduce you to the 2021 Carolina Panthers.
Cam just took a selfie with Robby Anderson and yelled Keep Pounding on his way out of the press conference.
I can not emphasize enough that things are more fun when Cam Newton is involved.
A) Cams career is 100% definitively better than Daks, who has never been past the 2nd round & has won 0 MVPs by my count
2) Love the“dunk on people who have podcasts” at the top of the rant as if Cams pod doesnt have more reach than this radio show
c) i don’t know who this guy is
Gerald McCoy: “That’d be the dumbest thing they ever did is let Cam walk. There’s not a lot of Cam Newtons walking around....any organization that don’t want Cam Newton, that’s just dumb to me.”
Chuba Hubbard has always liked the Panthers organization and has been a Cam Newton fan for a long time.
"I really wanted them to win that Super Bowl, man."
Panthers came into the league in 1995.
Since that time they’ve been to the Super Bowl twice, had an MVP and have more playoff wins than the Falcons, Vikings, Titans, Cowboys, Jaguars, Jets, Cardinals, Chargers, Bills, Texans, Raiders, Bears, Bengals, Dolphins and Commanders.
Panthers owner David Tepper asked about trading vets, says, "I think that we have to figure out how to get a culture of winning here, which we haven't had in a long time in this place ... I don't think it ever had a real culture of winning."
David Tepper references that Olsen and TD were incredibly active in the community.
Then says there's a third one, but "don't worry, we'll bring the other one back home one day."
That third one is Cam Newton.
If I’m reading this right, up and to the left means he’s seeing the fewest number of open windows through two weeks —-and when he does, Bryce Young is hitting them at the highest rate in the league.
Lots of celebrating on the timeline, but Joe Brady didn’t trade 3 picks for Sam Darnold, injure Christian McCaffrey or leave the offensive line as an afterthought for the last two offseasons.
Brady wasn’t perfect, but this team has lots of other issues this firing won’t solve.
So the turnover-prone QB turns the ball over three times and the fourth corner gets roasted and y’all are ready to move onto a different coach as if the last 8 weeks didn’t happen?
This team went from the worst in the league to losing a playoff spot to Brady Week 17 in 2 months.
Between needing a wheelchair after the court storming to just trying to trip Ingram while simultaneously faking another injury going up the floor, Filipowski is moving up my list of Duke villains.

I’ll tell you what that is - that is a professional NFL Coaching Staff.
Still crazy to me that Burrow gets lauded on tv for dressing in fun outfits while Cam got endlessly dunked on if he wore a fancy hat a postgame presser.
I know the reasons why but it never ceases to amaze me when the bengals are playing in national games
It’s truly a shame that three days before the Panthers
#1
draft pick and presumed future franchise quarterback gets his first start, a seemingly large percentage of the fanbase seems either checked out, frustrated or disconnected from the team.
Should be a celebratory time.
I like DJ Moore a lot. Maybe more than most.
But finding a plan at WR is easier than finding a plan at QB. Now just need to make sure that QB plan is the right one.
Shi Smith just had a circus catch in red zone drills for a touchdown that caused the offensive sidelines to go crazy. Absolutely Mossed a corner (didn’t see which corner it was).
Would imagine you’ll see video of it from
@Panthers
soon.
Last season, I asked Ron Rivera a question about Rashaan Gaulden and his playing time, which he answered, but didn't go into too much detail.
After presser was over, he called me into a hall to explain further, after thinking he had been too short with me.
Never forgot that.
Spoken to three Panthers free agent signings thus far, all three have said the same thing.
Christian McCaffrey was one of the first players to reach out to them.
Panthers wanted Young. Went up to 1 to get him.
Had they gone to 2 and Young had been gone, they would have taken Stroud.
Seems pretty cut and dry to me but folks are getting confused? Maybe just my timeline.
#Panthers
owner David Tepper confirms they were supposed to trade to No. 2 and take CJ Stroud because they believed Houston would've taken Bryce Young at No. 1.
Tepper says everyone in the building wanted Young.
"We are totally confident in that pick."
Updated version of the chart. Data now back to 2020 (removed some inactive QBs like Brady). Also included total of open throw attempts.
Realized I cut off Bryce Young, who actually only had one bad throw! Good for you Bryce.
Sure seemed like Bryce was a lot more comfortable when the Panthers went with some tempo to their offense instead of coming out of the huddle with the 12 on the play clock.
Do y'all agree with this statement?
Being a fan during the bad times makes the good times that much sweeter.
To me, you loved Cam more if you watched all of the Jimmy Clausen games. 2003 Super Bowl run was more rewarding because of the 15-straight loss season.
1. Sign Teddy Bridgewater
2. Expect him to be much better than he's been thus far in his career because he has better weapons
3. Be upset when he's not
4. Trade for Sam Darnold
5. Expect him to be much better than he's been thus far in his career because he has better weapons
6.
Bryce Young just had his best throw of the day, threading the needle to West Virginia’s Gary Jennings across the middle left to right.
Very tight window and put it where only Jennings could catch it.
And that’s a wrap on rookie mini camp Day 1.
Being a wide receiver in the NFC is TOUGH.
DJ Moore is (likely) about to have his third straight season with over 1,150 yards with almost a dozen different starting QBs over that span and he hasn’t even sniffed a Pro Bowl ALTERNATE spot.
A damn shame.
"Sam Darnold's going to put you to sleep reading a book. We don't need any librarians out here...."
-Steve Smith, saying that in his opinion Baker Mayfield should be the Panthers starting quarterback.
The fact that the discussion has shifted from whether or not Watson is guilty of the sexual misconduct accusations that have been levied by TWENTY TWO different women to what team HE WOULD APPROVE a trade to is frankly disgusting & I’m having trouble wrapping my mind around it.
