If you needed some good news today, this is it. It seems researchers have found the primary driver for MS. Epstein-barr virus appears to be a core component & is already a target for some vaccine trials. Genuinely looks like we could near-eradicate MS in the near future.

45 UK prestigious scientists were granted €110m worth of grants from the ERC .. on the condition they now move to Europe to continue their work. Hard to emphasise what a disaster this is for UK research. UKRI will have to find this money to keep them there or lose them. #brexit

A note on apologies. If they are genuine, make them privately. If something is stopping you from doing that and your mistake goes public, apologise privately first, then publicly. If you apologise publicly BEFORE privately, it just screams insincerity, don't you think?

@MikeSegalov I helped Dustin Hoffman loot the contents of the room in the Dorchester while I was interviewing him about a film he had just done. Towels, bathmat, dressing gowns into this big duffel. 'The company will pay for it' he said, and winked at me.

@alxwlsdn Not sure I'd go that far! I have been very lucky in life, merely by chance of birth. Stealing a little boy's bike or an elderly woman's purse ARE shitty things to do, but inequality and lack of opportunity are real problems. Very much for reducing the 1st and increasing the 2nd.
