Charlotte is amazing. Clean, compact, and beautiful downtown. Pretty wide variety of feels just 20-30 min away (a bit more ritzy Southpark, more suburbia Harrisburg, or could live on acres of land). Solid 4 seasons but rarely have extreme weather.
Iโm excited to announce that Iโll be starting a dream role managing
@coda_hq
โs new $1MM Maker Fund & doing everything I can to help make our fundees successful.
If you have ambitions to build great docs/packs and could use capital/support, apply now!
Seriously. As a parent of an autistic kid, I can attest to the fact that there is a TON of pressure from the medical and educational systems to enroll in this therapy (and if not, you are doing it wrong).
Glad we actually listened to what autistic folks had to say about it!
Hey new journalist followers, do you know about the ABA โdebateโ regarding Autistic kids?
Do you want to blow the lid off a story of deception, manipulation, exploitation and the $4B driving it?
Because I have a story for you that will make you famous and make you enemies.
When evaluating a product name I always do 3 things:
1. Combine w/ adjectives
2. See if any combos have domain / Twitter handle
3. For the shortlist, see how it feels in a few real world sentences
Turned this into a

template that saved me hours. @ me if you want it

Overheard on Caltrain.
Two high schoolers talking about how Screen Time in iOS 12 made them realize they are spending more time on the internet than being with actual people.
Donโt know if it will result in changed behavior but seems like the convo is a win.
In this age of distraction, I believe someoneโs ability to focus and get into a state of flow where deep work can happen is a game changing differentiator. Things that have helped me:
When I made this prediction, I didnโt think I would be prophesying my own familyโs departure...
But turns out
1) WFH isnโt so bad
2)

3) better to shelter in place w/ a big yard
4) family
We are moving back to Charlotte next week
If lockdown persists greater than a few months, as the Imperial College report suggests it may, think weโll see a massive decentralization of tech away from Silicon Valley (why pay for proximity when itโs nearly irrelevant?)
This assumes migration will even be possible.
Got goosebumps a few times this week seeing some of the stuff Maker Fund recipients are doing on

โs Packs platform.

Lots of milestones in the 2010s, from running a startup for 8 years, to raising a neurodiverse family, to becoming part of a fast growing startup in Silicon Valley.
Iโm going to do my best to reflect on the top things I learned in the last decade. This may take a few days:
I've been working on the

mobile app for the past year and I'm so stoked that it's finally live! The hardest project I've ever done.
Really proud of what we've done to make docs become apps on your phone.
New doc, who dis.
Weโre welcoming everyone into Coda 1.0 with the launch of our mobile app. Now you can create docs as powerful as apps. Thank you to the tens of thousands of beta users who used Coda and provided feedback.

Wow.
Been playing with the OpenAI pack for
@coda_hq
and just built (in minutes) a workflow that is going to save me hours a week on meeting summaries and make me better at my job.
Game changing stuff.
Organizing an event & w/

I was able to create a form that asks people which times they can join and then adds them to the appropriate calendar event automatically... from a DOC ๐คฏ๐คฏ๐คฏ
The product I've been working on for the last 5 years still blows my mind
The LEGO AR demo was SUPER impressive but I honestly couldnโt clap. I created those same crazy scenarios and effects 20 years ago except I used my imagination to do it. Is filling in those gaps a good thing?

Wrote a note on some of the other things I saw (but unfortunately didnโt act on) at wwdc that opened my eyes a bit to what we put women through in this industry

Omicron hit Mindy and I, baby emily and Josiah. Internet went out coincidentally also. Snowed in. Switching off kid duty to try to give each other rest.
This thing may be milder than Delta but itโs the worst Iโve felt in a long, long time.

๐จ Big new feature alert ๐จ Coda Packs! Packs connect your Coda docs to the apps you already use - like
@figmadesign
,
@github
,
@intercom
,
@SlackHQ
. Review a design mock, merge a PR, reply to a customer, and update the team in Slack - all from a Coda doc.
At the risk of sounding grandiose, I genuinely have never felt like I was part of a potential computing revolution as I do now with
