@marshal Charlotte is amazing. Clean, compact, and beautiful downtown. Pretty wide variety of feels just 20-30 min away (a bit more ritzy Southpark, more suburbia Harrisburg, or could live on acres of land). Solid 4 seasons but rarely have extreme weather.

Seriously. As a parent of an autistic kid, I can attest to the fact that there is a TON of pressure from the medical and educational systems to enroll in this therapy (and if not, you are doing it wrong). Glad we actually listened to what autistic folks had to say about it!
