@ZavalaA Having more cops on the street is a good thing, but the root causes of the crime explosion in Oakland, and almost every other big city in CA, are weak criminal laws & policies that have dramatically reduced accountability and deterrence & expedited early prison releases.

Shoplifting spiked 81% in Los Angeles in 2023. Over 11,945 shoplifting reports is an artificially low number due to the fact that many retailers/businesses simply stopped reporting many thefts due to the extremely weak laws and penalties in CA. Many businesses have shuttered.…
