I recently helped my brother appeal a decision by his employer to discipline him following 4 months off recovering from major brain surgery. Final written warning/removal of sick pay. He just called practically in tears, they have rescinded their decision following my input. 😃👍
What a fab time we had last night at the DCFC takeover party. My kids loved it. Such a generous way to thank the loyal staff and new players into our family.
And a win today.

Can't afford a proper one.
This is better if you ask me & only £2 from Morrisons as opposed to £300.
Fits perfectly.
I've even jazzed it up a bit.

It seems my tweet at the Derby game has caused some controversy up the A52. I sincerely apologise to all I have offended by saying Pride Park was ‘packed’.
You are all correct 23k fans is not a full house but the support & dedication from our fans has been amazing.

Sat in the magsistrates today observing a defendant representing himself because he isn't entitled to legal aid and can't afford representation. Heart breaking to watch. Access to justice denied to so many due to cuts to legal aid.

My mum would have been 60 years old today if she hadn't lost her battle to cancer at 34 years old. You may have lost your battle to cancer but you're still my hero. I will never forget you.

Long shot but one of my barristers I’ve booked for filming a Netflix drama tomorrow in Liverpool has come down with Covid. Are any of my barrister connections free tomorrow for a fun day of being an extra - hotel tonight in Liverpool paid. Wig & gown needed. Paid opportunity 😀

Had a chat with a fellow barrister last week. He does Civil Law. He was telling me of the days he earned a pittance at the criminal bar, cases like a £46.50 mention!
He nearly fell over when I told him the fee hadn't changed!
Scary thing was he was talking about 30 YEARS AGO!
I am really excited to accept an invitation
@DerbyUni
to become an Associate Lecturer teaching an Expert Evidence Module. Im proud to have received the recognition to be entrusted with such a task!
I didn't imagine at graduation I'd become a Barrister & a Lecturer! Heartfelt! 😍
Currently on 2 week advocacy course provided to pupil barristers. So far, been trained by many barristers including Judges, QC's & Barristers who have been at the Bar for 50 years! Absolutely invaluable & all voluntary. Does any other profession provide similar?
@middletemple
Pleased to be successful joining the CPS list at Grade 2. It’s been a really difficult 2 yrs being out of the Crown Court after a terrible accident & injury which literally brought my career to a halt after such hard work. After my recent 2nd op I’m hoping it’s onwards & upwards.
Honoured. I’ve been selected as a trustee of Derby County Community Trust.
Born & bred in Derby, from growing up in Normanton down from the Baseball Ground

It's 25 yrs today since my Mum Helen passed away. This is my daughter, 11 today. I named her Helen-Louise after my Mum. I added Louise as I wasn't sure if she would like Helen alone. Well today she has decided to drop Louise & be known as Helen, after her Nanna in heaven ❣️❣️
I'm glad that at Christmas I decided to take a step away from

for the time being. Instead I've been doing other work & secondments. I miss it but at least I can feed my family! Something has to change! I worked 10 years to become a Criminal Barrister for this! 😪
The Criminal Bar has spoken. The current relationship with the CPS is broken. 95% are prepared to walk out or refuse to take cases if the [CPS] refuses to fix it. There has been no investment for 20 years. Nothing. It is unsustainable...
Overheard convo on train, lady looking to recruit-they need to be career driven, single with no children. Apparently you can't be career driven if in a relationship or parent. Law Degree, Bar School, Pupillage, Full time Barrister. I'm neither single nor without children!

Well my brother Brett has just gone Into major brain surgery at Nottingham QMC. 8 hours to wait. Feeling so upset & anxious. Love this man to bits. We have been through such hard times together. Let's see if we can drum him up some support Twitter. 😘😍😘😍

Congratulations to Hannah Court, who has completed pupillage at

A lovely recommendation from one of my recent clients I represented in an Appeal from the Mags to the Crown Court. Appalled by the system in the Mags they saw no option but to appeal to the Crown (paying privately for the pleasure)
Rightly acquitted & costs paid!

I met with Steve Hall editor of The Derby Telegraph last night. The first time Ive seen him since the interview that changed my life! In 2009, he placed his faith in me by awarding me a scholarship to study Law. He was delight having heard in Aug that I'd qualified as a Barrister
I can't believe it's a year since I found out I had pupillage. It has flown by.
I have loved pupillage so far apart from days like today when it's my little boys birthday. I'm in London. He's in Derby.
The first birthday that we are apart. Feeling sad 😓😓
Thank you Crime Girl.
I'm not embarrassed to say that talking about my journey during this interview at times left me overwhelmed with tears. It means so much. I only wish my mum was here to see it! 😘
This little man is my Uni Love Story. He attended every lesson in my 1st year tightly snug as a bug in my belly. I think all the Law had its toll on him though as he decided to come out to play during my final year exam! The ❤️ of my life.

This breaks my heart. Exams are not the only path to your dreams. Life can bring many unexpected opportunities when you least expect it. Keep believing & never be told you can't achieve something. Sometimes your route can take a different path, it's not necessarily the wrong one.
