To all new followers, thanks for the follow, here's my most popular blog! A lot has happened since I wrote it but it gives you some history and background to the current disputes, so it's still relevant.
The difference between men-only events and women-only events is that women-only events are designed to protect us from the kind of men that go to men-only events
This person has been offered exactly the same facilities as everyone else: a place to swim and a place to change. But he would rather ensure that some women will have to self-exclude because his feelings are more important. The arrogance of male entitlement is off the scale.
A friend of mine told me this week she had been going to women-only swimming sessions in her local pool in Leicester because she has had a mastectomy as a result of breast cancer and did not feel comfortable in mixed-sex swimming.
Interesting to note that when it comes to the definition of woman, Eddie Izzard's 'truth' is 'the truth' but Macy Gray's truth is mistaken. What could the difference between them be? 🤔
It's amazing that
#TransPride
has managed to go ahead with no violent masked men protesting it. No right-wing thugs in sight, no gangs of marauding TERFs, no police protection needed. Must be nice to have your freedom of speech respected.
#LetWomenSpeak
#TransPrideLondon
There are many reasons women need and value women-only provision and that's why these groups exist in the first place. We are losing so much of what we fought for. And people are still saying we should shut up because it doesn't affect us.
I still can't get over the fact that on
@BBCWomansHour
yesterday the discussion was *whether or not* there should be safe and fair sports for women.
WHETHER OR NOT.
Eddie Izzard knows that his use of women's toilets will pave the way for other more dangerous men to do the same. It is totally selfish and self-serving and shows he doesn't give a shit about women.
#EddieIzzard
Now that men can actually BE women, in addition to legally renting out parts of women's bodies when they feel like it, can anyone tell me what we currently mean by the term 'women's rights'? Seriously, what's left?
Since the spiteful focus on the looks of the women at the
@jk_rowling
lunch a week ago it's become open season on which women pass as feminine enough for the TRA crowd. This is a regressive movement fuelled by misogyny.
We've had years of being told that we can't use the word 'mother' anymore because it's not inclusive. We've been saddled with 'birthing parent' in order to distance the word 'mother' from biological reality.
Now a bloke's been called a mother on TV and we're angry. Obvs 🤷
I'm even angrier than I was this morning about the
@JustinOnWeb
interview with Fallon Fox on
@BBCr4today
. Asking Fallon Fox's opinion on fairness in women's sport is like asking what Jack the Ripper thinks about street safety.
#r4today
Framing it as 'wading into the trans row' is a big part of the problem. JK Rowling was actually commenting on the 'woman' row. Why on earth does the definition of woman depend on trans people?
#r4today
The trans rights activist brigade has painted the most traumatised of female victims of male violence as bigots, undeserving of services and recovery. I'm not sure I can ever forgive them for this.
Watching David Tennant being fawned over for calling us 'absolute freaks' 😬
I thought he was quite a thoughtful bloke, but this makes him sound immature and unintelligent, or, responding in kind, like an absolute wanker.
A couple of things:
I think this is the first time I've ever heard a politician state unequivocally that males should not be in female sports.
And on the subject of women and sport, Boris Johnson is more progressive than Gary Lineker.
😐
The indoctrination of girls to view their own personal boundaries as bigotry has been in trans inclusion school toolkits for a decade. It's not surprising she doesn't know she's got rights.
Young women walked in on by men while trying on clothes in Primark Cambridge Unisex changing room...she starts by saying how she's supportive of this, then breaks down crying.
#KeepWomenSafeAndSeparate
Watching the trans response to the
@RFU
decision and I'm reminded of a realisation I have at least once every day: 'They really really don't give a shit about women and girls do they?'
Saying that trans-identified males 'add amazing value' and are 'needed' in women's rape crisis services is like a paramedic hoping for a diverse range of victims in a road accident in order to make her job more intersectional. It's ghoulish.
We had 3 days in court forensically examining how sensitive a woman should be in expressing her gender critical beliefs.
But to express the opposing beliefs you can violently disrupt a women's meeting in Manchester and compare JKR to a child abuser on a Radio 4 arts programme. 🤔
This is the third such story I've heard recently - one in swimming, one in a ballet class and one in a cycling group, where the women have left because the group stopped providing the women-only service advertised.
My friend stopped going for her swim, she doesn't know what the other women did. It had been a lovely group of women who all felt safe and comfortable with eachother. For all she knows the man now has the pool to himself once a week.
Changing the male/female axis to a cis/trans axis means that males in prison can insist on being strip-searched by women, but women in hospital can't ask for intimate examinations to be conducted by females.
And that's what we mean by 'trans ideology'.
@JournalistJill
It's hard not to see this as a punishment for holding certain views. The power imbalance here: 'Look what we can do to you if you speak out...' Contemptuous behaviour from
@ripcurl
Waiting for
@BBCWomansHour
to tell the other side of this outrageously biased story: the story of the women who dedicate their lives to becoming the best they possibly can in their individual sport and then find it's all wasted because they are forced to compete against a man.
Transgender golfer, Hailey Davidson, says she fears for her safety after winning a place on a US tour designed to provide 'growth opportunities' for female players.
She has been accused of having an unfair advantage because she can hit a ball further than a female born player.
Patients with dementia should be challenged on their beliefs.
Female victims of male sexual violence should be challenged on their beliefs.
Men who say they are women should on no account be challenged about anything.
This is where we are.
Lesbians being removed from a Pride march for their own safety.
The police aren't dancing now are they? Where's their solidarity with lesbians? Is the rainbow-washing just for the blokes?

What's the point of having single-sex exceptions in the Equality Act if we keep saying: But not prisons... but not hospitals... but not sports... but not toilets... but not changing rooms... but not refuges... not those things. Just other things.
What's left?
It was clear from the start that if males were accepted into female changing rooms that the offence of indecent exposure would be mandated out of existence. This case shows that we were right.
The reaction from trans groups to the guide from the EHRC, which simply reflects existing law, shows how much they feel entitled to ride roughshod over women's rights.
It's astonishing how little they understand or care and yet it's 'transphobic' to say there's a conflict.
I'm interested in that moment before a man comes out as trans.
Before it there is a man, and we are free to disbelieve men because they've lied to us before.
After it we can no longer disbelieve him because he is trans and knows better than you.
What happens in that moment?
Most of the other women in the group were Muslims. One day a man turned up to swim, wearing swimming trunks - obviously a man, no attempt to hide the fact.
Double mastectomies are being promoted and normalised for girls who want to be boys, at the same time as men are being reassured that they can still be women if they keep their penis.
This is a movement which costs men nothing and women everything.
These are two wildly different things:
1. Trans rights
2. Legislation which makes sex a matter of personal choice for everyone
People think they're arguing for 1 but they're actually waving through 2.
Women are arguing against 2 but are accused of fighting against 1.
Some people argue that 'female' is a sex word and 'woman' is a gender word, but that's completely wrong. 'Woman' simply humanises 'female' so we are differentiated from animals. You can't take 'woman' from us without dehumanising us.
@glosswitch
Men like Billy Bragg and Owen Jones who have found a useful scapegoat in Kellie-Jay but have never defended the right of women in their own party to speak and be heard are the most despicable of men, letting the thugs do their work for them.
This type of crime is so unusual for a girl as to be almost unbelievable. I'm angry that the media has made it impossible to read this story straight, without wondering if we're being lied to again.
Did the BBC just report on the banning of surrogacy in Italy as "chipping away at the rights of same-sex families"...? With no balance or wider discussion of the rights of women and children?
#r4today
The BBC : "We won't call Hamas a terrorist group on the say-so of the government, but we *will* call a man a woman on the say-so of Stonewall." The smug self-righteousness is off the scale this morning.
@BBCRadio4
#r4today
This is outrageous from the BBC. Joanna Harper's research has been roundly debunked and discredited. Male advantage in sport cannot be mitigated by a reduction in testosterone and this interview is wholly biased in favour of 'inclusion' rather than fairness.
#r4today
@GMB
Ten years ago this would have been a spoof interview on a comedy show. It still looks like a spoof. You are interviewing a man who admits he has an advantage over women and then saying how hard it all is for him. Can't you see how ridiculous you look?
Ignoring things on Twitter is one way to reduce potential impact, and
@jk_rowling
did this to ensure that children's exposure to disgusting pornographic tweets was minimised. To use her tweet to suggest she didn't care about children is about as defamatory as you can get.
On 16th July I posted a tweet of JK Rowling saying “I ignore porn tweeted at children”. This was entirely misleading as I took her words out of context. I was wrong to make this defamatory and untrue allegation and apologise to JK Rowling.
This is reflecting really badly on you
@SussexUni
You need to get a statement out pretty quickly if you want to minimise the reputational damage being done to your brand.
Can women can expect to be harassed and bullied if they choose to go to Sussex?

The actual hashtag was

. Add to that, women speaking out were accused of being responsible for the death/suicide of 'trans kids'. The abusive people accusing them of that were called 'kind'. You can't get more silencing than that.
The BBC is doubling down on this. It's not ignorance, they know the truth. It's a deliberate decision because the BBC is more frightened of its LGBTQ lobby than it is of women. Despicable gaslighting by

The BBC is platforming a bloke arguing that women shouldn't be allowed to 'kill babies'. The other day it was a bloke claiming he had a right to fight women in MMA fights. Almost as though both these points of view are a valid 'balance' to arguments for women's rights.
#bbcpm
On
@BBCWomansHour
a woman is arguing for male people's right to partake in female sports categories. Thank goodness for
@sharrond62
speaking the truth about safety and fairness for women.
Why does
@BBCRadio4
think it's 'balance' to quote Stonewall saying 'there is no evidence' when there is plenty of evidence and the BBC knows this? Quoting a lobby group telling a lie only perpetrates the idea that bigotry is behind everything. Keep Stonewall out of this.
#r4today
Toilets were taken very seriously indeed when Stonewall was insisting people should be able to use them according to their 'gender identity'. Now the need for single-sex is being recognised it's apparently a trivial subject, only good for a chuckle. 🤷

'Cis women' have no definition in law.
'Cis women' are not protected in the Equality Act.
'Cis women' have no rights.
Don't use the term 'cis women', it means an end to women's rights.
The level of cruelty on this thread is unbelievable. The assumption that women (and especially rape victims) don't know a male when they see one is next-level gaslighting. Asking for single-sex provision is being painted as beyond the pale even if you're a rape survivor 😥
My mentions are full of people telling me anecdotes about masculine-looking women being mis-sexed in public toilets. I know it can happen but why does it prove we should let men in? 🤔
@GaryLineker
That's disappointing when you've chosen to completely stay out of the debate regarding sport. It's not 'divisive nonsense' it's women's rights being attacked.
@jk_rowling
This, from the Allsorts schools trans toolkit in Brighton, was first used in East Sussex schools in 2013. Some children have grown up with this.

A pattern is emerging amongst Labour MPs in particular, regarding the debate on women's rights:
1 Ignore ALL the light shed on the issue by women with evidence.
2 Generate heat by bad faith responses.
3 Complain there is 'more heat than light'.
It's beginning to sound scripted.
Male placentas produce more proinflammatory molecules than female placentas, while pregnant people carrying male fetuses produce fewer antibodies in response to infection.

A man shouldn't lose his job because what he did is technically 'not illegal'.
From the same people happy to see a woman lose her job because of a few tweets.

@GretaThunberg
@_DylanHamilton_
This isn't a transphobic film Greta, it's a film about women's rights. A group of bullies forcibly preventing women watching a film is nothing to be celebrated.
I have already seen the claim that Fina's new policy will lead to drownings. This is the usual level of emotional manipulation from the trans lobby, because there really is no argument for including males in female sport, ever.
#r4today
Some similarities here with the Brianna Ghey case - the perpetrator's obsession with violence & fantasies of murder - but when the killer rather than the victim identifies as trans that bit is covered up and it's reported as a woman's crime by
@guardian
I'd like someone from the TWAW crowd to tell me why in the case of violent and/or sexual crime it's always the 'women' of the trans community who are being reported and convicted. Never the 'men'.
Considering the usual stats on these offences it's really surprising isn't it? 🤔
"Appearing to be a coordinated campaign."

Also very much enjoying "ranting" essay. Probably written by some hysterical woman whose brain's been addled by Mother's Ruin and ovulation.
Now that we're all so full of love for women's sport, would it be too much to ask that a few more high-profile sportsmen support us in defending it for the female participants of the future?
If you dismiss rape survivors wanting single-sex spaces as 'weaponising white women's tears' but at the same time you cheer on a white man winning a women's swimming race, then nothing else you say can ever mitigate your utter cowardly cynical stupidity.
In their story about single-sex toilets
@BBCRadio4
thinks it's important to tell us what this means for 'non binary' people. There's a quote from Mermaids but not Sex Matters or Fair Play. This is not impartial broadcasting.

If you want to know the real difference between men and women, just listen to the

#Ridge
The chanting of the mantra
#TransWomenAreWomen
is the number one cause of conflict between trans groups and feminists. Insisting that women come in both sexes now, and hoping we won't notice the implications for single-sex provision, is dishonest and dismissive of women's rights.
@VictoriaPeckham
This is a good example of how it is not 'trans rights' that people are opposed to, but the extreme depths that 'trans ideology' takes us to. It couldn't be clearer: if you subscribe to the demands of trans activists you ditch all reason, all safeguarding, all equality.
A man travels the world researching a documentary before making pronouncements about LGBT rights.
When it comes to women's rights he doesn't think any research is necessary, his opinion is all that matters.
We've been here before haven't we?
Can anybody give me an example of when the forced teaming of 'Women's Rights' with 'Trans Rights' has resulted in just one single gain for *Women's* Rights?
Unbelievable from the BBC. This is the second interview giving the trans POV on the EHRC statement on

Steph is a huge advocate for preventing women speaking - I would never have heard of him were it not for his work opposing women's rights. This appointment is a joke.
Our apologies for the misunderstanding.
This quote is from a person that our charity supports. Not from steph herself.
Steph is a huge advocate for what people on the endo community go through.
This is why they were appointed, not because they have their own endo journey.
Trans competitors don't need to *dominate* women's sport for it to be unfair - why is this any sort of argument? Just one woman affected is one too many because if we stuck to the rules it would not have happened.
It's bad enough that a man holds the women's record, but to find out it's this particular man is too much. He has demonstrated clearly what he's capable of if he doesn't get his own way.

You called women fighting for women's rights 'anti-trans' - some of those women are fighting for women's rights in sport.
You said polls show most women don't agree with us - polls show there is overwhelming support for female-only sport.
Sharron has every right to comment.
Now it's been confirmed that Self-ID of sex does in fact affect the Equality Act (ie other protected groups) can everyone just admit that feminists were right about everything all along...? 🤔
The people who say you shouldn't judge a whole group by the creepy rapey antics of a few have recently signed a letter to the BBC defending the creepy rapey antics of a few.
How are we to interpret that?
