Wanted to know if I could connect with Professors interested in field of Large LM, explainibilty, AI for Social Good, Summarization and multimodality at the
@emnlpmeeting
and meet and discuss with them in person.(Aspiring to be a PhD student)

Being an individual researcher it was difficult journey for me but finally I got 2 workshop paper selected and received a D&I funding!
Looking to connect with professors and researchers. Let me know who all are coming. See you soon
#EMNLP2023
3 papers not accepted
1 in the main and 2 in the Demo. My scores were good, but I still couldn't make it.
However I am reading some motivating thoughts from my fellow researchers and it just gives me positivity, Will come back strong.
1 Accept at LREC-COLING 2024
@LrecColing
"Longform Multimodal Lay Summarization of Scientific Papers: Towards Automatically Generating Science Blogs from Research Articles."
Hope I can secure some funding for Turin

So had a great first 3 days at the conference.
Presented my poster on 8th, met loads of great people.
2 days to go now, really want to make as many connections as possible . If you wanna grab a coffee and discuss just reply to the tweet

I’ll be in Bangalore for 2-3 weeks and would love to (re)connect with AI/ML researchers in the area to discuss recent developments in LLMs
Ping me if you happen to be around. 😊
Also my idea is to discuss more on the Indic LLMs that my group is working on and maybe collab.
@OpenAcademics
Hello everyone,
I am Guneet Singh an undergraduate researcher. I have been part of various research projects that range from vision to NLP as well as predictive modelling and analysis. It would be great to know you all
To know more about me visit:
It’s good to be recognised
Aim is to build best LLMs for the Indian Diaspora
I am thinking of writing blog posts about our findings and challenges. Would appreciate any suggestions for the topics that should be covered.

Hi all need guidance,
I have got a paper accepted at the

this year.
Since this project was done by me as an independent researcher, is there a way I can get some funding to attend the conference. Any grants or scholarship I can apply to ……

For me my inspiration is my mother who recently completed masters in yoga at the age of 45 and still wanna learn more and experiment with it.
Happy Women Day to her and all amazing women researchers out there

When I saw this I felt a weird sense of ease in my mind . No more struggle or keeping up with the race.
As
@TheZachMueller
says
Let’s get some sunlight tonight 🫡
One reaason of feeling too dejected is that fact that I thought these works will improve my chance of PhD and masters applications. But doesnt matter. Have to keep my heads up.

An amazing meet up today with awesome people.
Tomorrow I am having another one for peeps around the Bangalore.
Time: 7 PM onwards

See you all
Topics to discuss : LLMs in healthcare , social sciences and Indic Langs,etc
Starting with simple problems is always the key to building up your skills.
A simple Kaggle competition has been curated for the students to begin their journey in NLP.
6 days to go, do participate.............................
@CRforAi
So finally, Bangalore it is...
I will be available on 18,19 March. Even can do 16th ( depends on the ad hoc plans)
Let's connect. I guess Indranagar might be a good spot.
If you have recommendations, I would be happy to explore those as well 😁

Google lost ~100 Billion$ worth of market cap due to glitches in BARD during demo.
The costliest Demo in history
This marks the beginning of AI Arms Race of this decade

Now hoping to get funding from EMNLP to attend the conference ✊🏻😄

But the problems are there in this path
Since being an independent researcher we are not able to get findings to present papers or even sometimes established researchers don’t like to collaborate even though you might be having top class papers
Today I see so many posts of young undergrads from top US universities getting their paper accepted at ICML 2022 and here I am in India (half sleepy) still dreaming of being a part of research group where I can make this a possibility 😂

@prajdabre1
The struggle is real
For me just to make a name
I have been working 8 hours job daily dedicatedly so that I can earn good to support my family .
But since research is passion and to do a PhD you now apparently need to be very elite already I work separate 6-7 hours for research.
On the way to my first meetup scheduled for 7 PM at Araku Coffee, Indiranagar
We are discussing LLMs and AI in general, feel free to drop by or share with your friends who might be in that area.
I love the rickshaws here in Bangalore
@prajdabre1
I have been working on this dataset for the past 1 year,😂😂😂, and now I realize you are one of the authors.
How did I miss it, feel so silly
Recently started exploring Indian Dialects 🌏💬 and their adaptability in LLMs. Keen to hear your observations or findings on this fascinating topic. Feel free to tag anyone working in this area or reach out for collaboration. Still in initial stages .......

but virtually🙃
Induced biases in the language models are really becoming the highlight of the show in NLP, it’s good to see a structured outlook undertaken to make the performance better .Any researchers working on biases would love to connect and discuss further on the techniques 😃
@keviv9
So well said.
I will call myself just an AI researcher or an engineer. Never an expert. You can't be an expert since every day is a brand new day in Gen AI. The ones currently proclaiming themselves to be experts should definitely be doubted.
@nlpxuhui
Hi
I am immensely interested in your research direction
Is it possible to connect with you somewhere and discuss a bit on this
I would really appreciate it
@XYOU
Just joined your discord ,
Very much interested in contributing to your efforts
I have been working for Indian Languages for past 1 year . Really want to extend my learning’s to other languages.
Would really appreciate if you can guide me a bit in your server
@ShubhamC526
Why is this so common in our Indian education
‘My professor asked me for the results and I found my 2 papers had been printed with that proff as the first author with her colleague as second and my name wasn’t even there

Because we don’t have a dedicated support of hardware which we can exploit with a good group of people focused on creating fundamental models instead of a fine tune rat race

Can a person apply with bachelors?

Created account today to find that my papers been claimed by another author with exactly same name. The problem is that you create a single author page for a particular name. Now what if 2authors have same name?
Since he claimed it first it’s his now?
Here's the complete schedule of first Symposium. Don't forget to register and mark your google calendar

@tunguz
The academics should be more open now and welcoming to ideas but sadly it’s closed. I as an undergrad in India still struggle to make a mark in research because I don’t have “conference submissions” even though I might have the right research viewpoint. Alas!
@HeesooJang2
Hi,
In collaboration with Save the Children, I have set up an AI lab for Child Safety at my Uni. We got initial funding from Github. Would you be interested in discussing more on this. I would be happy to connect
@halcyonrayes
@anshuizme
It’s very interesting that you mentioned it here
I wasn’t lucky to be a part of top labs and currently my highest degree is bachelors
However through networking and reaching out to friends online, I kind of built collaborations and was able to publish work

Hi
